That 3/8 flex head is a piece of shit...I broke 2 in 3 days. When you pay the $110 dollar price for the 3/8 long flex head from Snap-On you save tons of money on gas because the truck comes to the shop every week, rather then having to drive to Harbor Freight every damn time that shit breaks
Then you're stuck all week with a broken tool that may leave you stranded on a job. I'd much rather go to the store and get a replacement within the 30 minutes of it breaking. It'd take dozens of trips for the fuel price to add up to the price difference.
Paid 20 for the longer ⅜" drive ratchet and I love it. Over time the head will get floppy and tightening the screw only works for so long. I took it out and added a bit of loctite and 8 months later it's still holding up. Tight enough that it doesn't flip with a socket but not so hard that I can't adjust it.
+RedWhiteAndBlueVideo I'm superman. I wouldn't have said it if I hadn't used the 3/8 like I have. Plus you can tell if something is good just by looking at it and feeling it in your hands.
I've tried to watch these meandering videos but they are insufferable. The presentation sounds like an ADDH kid off his meds and arguing with himself. For Christ's sake, write a script, study it, memorize your talking points and stay on topic.
I have no brand loyalty when it comes to tools. I have some of all the brands available and they all seem to have their place. All the brands keep changing their lines constantly. I have my first set of metric wrenches still, and they are my favorite: KMC brand (Kmart Corporation).
Fuck yea Roman, about time you did more tool videos. In my honest opinion, NOONE makes better tool videos than you. You really get into em down to the material and manufacturer. Hope to see more thanks
My roommate takes all of his Craftsman stuff down to Sears about twice a year. If it has a couple scratches in it, he takes them in for new ratchets, wrenches, screwdrivers, sockets, whatever. He walks out with all new replacements. Whatever gets the job done, with the least amount of head aches, that's my motto. I liked your video.
Mind|Sculptor They're not even broken, or anything, sometimes they are, but he just says, "this is my profession, I can't have that in my box looking like that". Just don't get carried away, and bring in tons of tools, 20 items or so is cool.
Yup i love love my craftsman set but the the ratchets in this video are pittsburgh pro so they have a lifetime warranty as well how there warranty compares to craftsman i do not know but i would assume they wouldn't give you much hassle
Made in Taiwan Pittsburgh Pro stuff is actually half decent these days. The main downside is that the flex joint has a reputation for being too loose. That can be easily fixed with a thicker washer. It is definitely a far better alternative than the Made in China garbage Sears is trying to sell. Your only other viable option that's even in this price range for flex head ratchets is Gearwrench if you want locking detents. Even though the finishing on the ratchets is not as nice, it definitely beats paying tool truck prices.
A lot of mechanics take apart their ratchets when first bought and grease the gears with white lithium or similar light grease. They say Taiwan ratchets are good, but the Taiwanese don't grease their ratchets enough from the factory. I have done this, and so far so good. Have you ever greased or oiled your new ratchets?
I wouldn't mind having a HF closer to my house. The closest one is a twenty minutes drive which is inconvenient if I need to warranty a tool. A Kmart has gone out of business about seven minutes from my house. I sent a message to HF about it, but I haven't heard a peep from them about it.
For the price, you really can beat the Pittsburgh 3/8 long handle flex. It has the most slender head profile I've seen in with wrenches in its class. I recently replaced a 1st bank O2 sensor in a Grande Am with it that was so buried, I could not see what the fuck I was doing. The compact head of the HF ratchet got in there and broke that sensor loose without a lot of effort.
Nice review. Im purchasing the wheel bearing puller set soon. Prices on the other brands i won't mention names at over $450.00 . Can't afford that shit for DIY home garage work, who can afford to have that much money laying around in a tool that get's used once a year ?. What do you think of the HF 20 ton press ?
I have the 3/8 and I did use it quite often till the swivel head opened up a bit and now the head just kinda flops around I kinda wish it did have that locking head or have that pivot ball that craftsman uses in their 3/8 flex head .. I have warranty it no problem but I just don't use it to break really tough nuts bolts anymore all in n all still great for its buy..... cool vids Roman thaks bro n yes carlyle tools are awesome i have those same wrenches and the long pannel non rachting wrenchs always my go to tools the best
See I don't like the HF 3/8 ratchet, not that it's bad. I just feel it's way too long for what I use it for. I'm sure it'd be awesome to have just for that one situation, but I don't need it I have tools that'll fill that gap.
d Ramirez, if you want to teach the Rockwell test shows Harding of steel there is a fine line between brittle and tempered steel thats it class is over
+RomanAutomotive cant find one on amazon that ship to malaysia... found this but its not cheap www.amazon.com/Drive-Professional-Handle-Ratchet-Comfort/dp/B00PYUYW0K/ref=sr_1_62?ie=UTF8&qid=1463710382&sr=8-62&keywords=1%2F2inch+drive+ratchet+handle
if you had said torque wrench, you statement would be valid. But simply tightening a bolt has nothing to do with the brand of tool......therefore, kick rocks.
On sale next weekend for $150. You must do the suggested break in. Change the oil until it goes clear, and then put in synthetic. look at the reviews for mods.
I'd take the craftsmen over Pittsburg because of the warranty I can take to any Sears and get it replaced free and I beat the hell out of my craftsmen they are very good quality that's why they have a lifetime warranty and very easy to replace no questions asked
I didn't know that where are Pittsburgh made USA or China I've heard craftsman stopped making tools in the USA and replacing with China made cheaper quality tools so if harbor freight has USA made with that warranty I'll start buying all my tools from then from now on
I would prefer USA made to support our own country and I know i will have to spend the money that doesn't bother me as much that's why I was asking I never looked into harbor freight hand tools because Sears is 2 blocks from me and craftsman was American made I appreciate the help with all the other American companies tho I've heard Cornwell has quality tools and snap-on is a waste of money in my opinion paying for name with them the name don't mean anything to me just the quality and keeping our money in our country as much as possible thanks again.
In future, please be aware that lip smacking is almost as bad as those long "uhhhh" and "ummm" audibles that drive people crazy and cost viewers. I like the message you're trying to send and you seem to know the key points of tools, but if you work on your delivery these vids would be pretty cool. No disrespect, dude.
get set up on their text line or look online for a coupon. never ending supply of 20% off. you can only use the coupon on 1 item and there are rules on what you can use it on.
i bought the 1/4 and 1/2 flex ratchet a few years ago b/c i wanted to try a soft grip ratchet and they're junk. i tossed them after 2 days. i know where your going with your video but they are miles away from snap on and are no way on par with them. all i accomplished was spending an extra 50 dollars on shit tools before i bought the snap on ones. the heads flopped around even though i put lock tight on the bolts and they constantly switched direction they suck. the only satisfying thing about the 1/2 drive ratchet was how far it went when i threw it over the fence absolutely fucking trash. maybe ok if your a hobbyist but for professional use save your money
Mike T tf were you doing to break them? I have them and beat the shit out of them and have yet to break them. Even if it does break, just replace and move on.
