No narrator. No cheesy music. Crystal clear instructions on what to expect when you get your sawmill. I wish I had seen something like this before I tried to set up mine. Owners said printed instructions were lame. They were right. If you ordered or are considering ordering your own, it will benefit you to watch this.

My sawmill is arriving on Monday (in 2 days) and I needed the crate dimensions. You provided that information and much more. Thanks so much for keeping the video short, to the point and like you said, no cheesy music. Many YT's have a lot to learn from you. I hate it when they get off track and talk like they are looking into a mirror. Thanks again from a soon-to-be-sawmiller, lol.

A thoughtful, helpful, generous thing for you to do. Thank you! HF should copy this on a CD and ship it with every machine. I have tried (unsucessfully) to do ONE YT video, of a far simpler subject and can appreciate the effort it takes to do a good job. Hats off! Ticket to heaven may have been punched.

I lifted the mill up with an excavator using a chain, slid the square and round vertical posts down from the top, then assembled the top brace, left and right wheel frames before setting on on the rails

+ray29999 You are more than welcome. If I had more of the parts on hand, I might have considered making my own, but at $2,199.00 I decided to go this way. Plus I didn't have photos like these to show me how to do one either. I am glad this helped you. Thanks for watching and subscribing !!

+Ronald Carroll Thanks. This got me started back to doing videos. I couldn't find my video camera, but wanted to do this because so many reviews of the sawmill complained about the poorly written instructions....and man, they were right!

Hey, so how is the mill working for you after 8 months? Any major things to watch out for?
@DoingItCheap
@DoingItCheap 8 лет назад
I am very pleased. I haven't made one yet, but it could use another hold down..... the screw part that holds it tight to the side. Keep in mind that the last cut you will make will leave approximately a two inch slab unless you build it up.

What is Harbor Freight's 20" sawmill's max heigth of cut? (how high can blade be raised above the bed?)

now that you have had this sawmill for a while what do you think of it? I see them for $2000 on the website, I see some people say they paid $1800 after delivery with a coupon, what is the best & cheapest way to get one? also would you modify it. PS Harbor Freight should cut you a royalty check cuz after seeing your videos I'm now a customer.
@DoingItCheap
@DoingItCheap 7 лет назад
How about YOU telling them online and sharing the link to my video !! LOL !!! The days of the 20% off coupon on the sawmills are no longer. Remember, you will still have to pay freight and you might want to do what I did. Check the freight costs if YOU pick it up at the local terminal instead of them delivering to your door. It saved me enough to make it well worth my while to drive 75 miles one way to get mine. In a perfect world, I would lay 24 foot pieces of angle iron on piers for the tracks and that way I could cut much longer logs, but that only benefits you if you have the equipment to handle long logs.

+grizz270 I studied on this a LONG time. Parts are easy enough to find if something ever does go wrong. The blades are cheap enough from Cook's in Alabama. About $150 for ten of them. The reason I showed how far apart the rails are is in case someone wants to mount a couple of twenty foot sticks of 4x3 angle iron ahead of time so you can cut longer logs than just over 8 feet. Of course logs over eight feet are gonna be very heavy unless you have the right equipment to handle them. Basically, it is just a bandsaw on wheels. But I LIKE IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I could not build one for the price. I give it two thumbs up all day long. I am going to build a shelter for the saw and mount twenty foot pieces on concrete pillars.

a friend of mine gave me a 14 by 24 metal carport 14 feet tall i have a small kabota 1860 but have other meens of moveing logs as well a friend of mine keeps a rather large exavator here i can use if i need , i have timberland and know many loggers , so im lookin forward to this , 1 more question , can you contact harbor frieght and work out a deal with them before i purchas that you get somethin out of this for me findin it on your channel ?
@DoingItCheap

+grizz270 LOL !! Thanks for the thought but no bird dog fees are paid by harbor freight. But I do get a penny or a half a penny for every three or four views !! Just tell all your friends to subscribe to my channel and watch my videos. That would be thanks enough for me !!

can you give me kinda an idea how. "CHEAP" those sawmills are?
@DoingItCheap
@DoingItCheap 7 лет назад
I will tell you this much.... I could not build one of equal quality for the price. The only thing that is "CHEAP" about it is the hold down for the logs. I would like to see it come with two of them, but I am gonna make a second one to help hold the log more secure. Other than that one point, I love mine and wouldn't change a thing (except I plan to purchase two 24 foot long piece of 3" X 4" angle iron so I can cut logs longer than 8'6"

thanks for the reply and even more info... 8'6' is not very long!!
