I have not used my Pittsburgh ones yet i have had them almost 3 years now though my buddy had the same thing beats the crap out of them on ratchets and impact ratchets and guns, and cordless ones and been using them 14 years and has not had to replace them yet that is impressive and why I bought mine

Keep in mind that impact sockets are highly disposable whereas chromes often are for life, impact versions are created soft for a reason, and they wear much faster. Having said that I've used the same made in Taiwan Pittsburgh impact sockets for 15 years, are they tired and loose fitting? Absolutely, do they still work? Absolutely. Haven't broken a single one. So ask yourself, do you REALLY need that $350 set of impact sockets..

I have the similar socket trays to the us general and the Hansen trays only because I got all of them for $36 oem tools green and black trays 1/4,3/8 and 1/2

I like the 1/2 sae and metric deep Pittsburgh impact socket set $12 and $15 for the 12 and 13pc sets another place where the thin wall is imperative and can't cut steel and aluminum away to make the regular socket fit is expensive aluminum and steel wheels and several sets of aftermarket wheels like the wheels on my laramie slt quad cab long bed 2000 dodge ram 1500 4x4 ... And the Pittsburgh line sells a more expensive set of them and they are supposed to be labeled better but I believe they skipped sizes as well and I have had the craftsman and Campbell hausfled usa made thick wall impact socket set but neither set was cheap to buy and i only had the craftsman metric set because they were not cheap but they don't skip sizes either, but I have also had several sets of the great neck ones that are the thin wall they are cheaper but not as decent of a product so it is why I am looking at the tekton set

What I noticed about those high gloss impact sockets is that they are made in China and the ones with the matte finish are made in Taiwan . I specifically looked for the made in Taiwan When shopping for mine

I'd have to go back and watch the video on them, but I kind of think I ordered them in on a sale because I couldn't get to the store. I much prefer the matte finish. That gloss is sloppy and looks terrible...very well could be a COO issue.

@4:00 -- I wish the 1/2" drive Impact sets would start at 1/2" or 9/16". With 3/8" impact stuff being so much more prevalent nowadays, I'd rather use THAT for the smaller sizes and see one or two more sockets on the larger side of the set. I'd rather have a BIG socket I MIGHT use rather than a smol socket I'll never use.

Can't argue with that. 15/16" and 1 1/8" are the most important sizes for me...would have much preferred a 1 1/8" Shallow over the smaller, shear the head off sizes.

I have a Wright 1/2 drive deep 5/8" that won't fit on my Hanson rack either for the same reason. Considered drilling out that area also. Might do it tonight. Edit: well that was easy. wrapped paper towel around socket, held in in bench vise, and drilled out the hole with a 25/32 bit using a cordless drill. Took about two minutes.

Nice...I can't remember what bit I wound up using, but my little Craftsman wanted nothing to do with it. I actually still have that socket setting to the side of my work bench. It was kind of handy to use as a punch on a few projects and it has just sort of stayed there. Need to take care of that one of these days.

All my deep sae and metric 1/2 inch cheap impact socket set are the black matte phosphate finish, I think you ordered the wrong set and im not impressed with the skips so I plan to buy the tekton because they sell complete sets

I have 4 1/2" drive pp impact sets: SAE and Metric in deep and shallow. They work great and are durable. However, the missed sizes are different between the deep and shallow which is kinda wonky and they are difficult to read.

Yeah, that drives me nuts. It is kind of crazy to see the same line, at the same store, jump sizes between deep and shallow like that. At some point I'll showcase the little 3/8" set...they have seen more use.

I've had pretty good luck with the Pittsburgh impacts but if you're gonna warranty you have to take the whole set back

HELL NAHHH YOUR STORE IS CRAZY FOR THAT!!!! I’ve heard about that for Ivón and I’ve spoken to 8 stores in Nj 7/8 said just bring in the one and we’ll look up your number I asked, what if I bought it cash when I didn’t have inside track…. And they were like oh yeah. I always say when I bought this they told me it wouldn’t matter and the 7/8 said yeah that makes sense ok just bring the 1. The 1/8 store that said no had horrible customer service and angry workers so maybe it’s just your store. I’m a trucker and a lot of shops just throw away old broken tools I always bring ‘em in and i think ive warrantyed over 100 garbage sockets never once did I bring the whole set and never ever had an issue bringing a Pittsburg to all 8 of the store
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 8 месяцев назад
Yeah, I'm kind of thinking that might be something specific to your store. If it is a corporate policy I don't think it is enforced. If you have another store in the area, I'd stop by and ask them some time. The way they do the sets, there are going to be a lot of unused sockets and a few with heavy use...doesn't make sense to make people bring back a hodge podge set, but who knows.

@@lonestarmopars like I said I’ve been to every harbor freight in Nj and never had an issue replacing a Pittsburg impact socket they always tell me bring another set they hand me a new one I sign a receipt and I’m on my way done this at most of the stores in NJ maybe a regional thing??

If all that you showed was Snap On, it would have cost you $1700+😶 That should make you feel better
@lonestarmopars
@lonestarmopars 8 месяцев назад
I can always take solstice in that, haha. I'm not a fan of Snap-on's impact sockets. Wright and Proto are fantastic for fractions of the price. Unless you have to have a thinner wall, there is no reason to spring for Snap-On in this case imo.
