Thanks for taking the time to make this. I found the info really helpful. Train whistle in the distance at 11:18 reminded me of growing up near train tracks.
I bought one of those several years ago for my scroll saw so I don't know if it is identical to yours but you said that you can add a shelf on the Craftsman but not on the Harbor Freight. Well, I had some scrap 6" melamine boards that I cut to length and they fit the Harbor Freight stand absolutely perfectly between the legs where the braces are. I have probably 50 pounds of tools on the shelf and it has been fine, and it also helps stabilize the tool stand - not that it really needs it. Also, I bolted a 12"x24"x3/4" melamine board on the top of the stand, and bolted the scroll saw to the board. This allowed me to bring the saw closer toward the front of the stand so that I don't have to reach as far toward to the blade.
+Pro1er Thanks for sharing. I was worried that the metal being thinner, it would not really be up to holding much weight. The board on the top would be an excellent upgrade as well.
Hey! I’m really hoping you’re still paying attention to this video. I’ve been fiddling with this thing for an entire day now and cannot figure out how to get it together to fit the 16 in variable scroll saw. Could you please tell me exactly which holes you have the legs in? As they’re 3 holes for the cross bars on the top and bottom I can’t figure out which ones make this thing work. The directions are completely useless, props to you for getting the thing together and useable.
I'm sorry to say, I no longer have the scroll saw, but what I remember is that the cross bar didn't even come into play when mounting the scroll saw. I did use three screws. The two side ones went in holes along the side of the frame, and there was as rear screw that went in one of the short ends. The cross beam was just pretty much there for stability, if it even added that. I do remember one of the screws, I think the one under the motor, I had to put in it's hole on the machine before setting it on the stand because there was not enough room to insert it after it was sitting on the stand. It was an awkward fit and it took me a while to work out too.
I just put one of these things together for my 10 chop saw which it didn't fit, so I put plywood on the top and mounted the saw on it. It's a little heavy so I'm thinking about putting wheels on it. The directions do suck though.
It would probably be ok. It sits pretty solid with the scroll saw on there. Make sure the screws are tight and none of the legs are spread out and not in a bind.
