For the cost of the Snap On you could have bought almost 10 Harbor Freight guns... and they sell replacement needles.

The trick with cheap tools (grinders, things like this) - OPEN EM UP first. Before use. A lot of brand name tools are made in the same factory as cheap ones. For the cheap kind, They cut costs on the lube (either it's missing, or it's cheap sh*t). Remove the grease, add your own (QUALITY!) grease, and even a $20 angle grinder will last you awhile. Thing is: they use grease that's not intended to withstand heat. After 2 minutes of use, it will be everywhere BUT the place it's needed. No grease = more friction = heavy load on the (probably underpowered) motor = burned out motor in no time at all. For my power tools (rotary hammers, grinders, etc) I use Lucas Oil Xtra Heavy Duty EP2 lithium grease (officially for wheel bearings) . Basically normal EP2 lithium grease, but with some additives; it has a way higher melting temperature, and sticks to metal better under extreme conditions. Just a quick tip for anyone interested.

Excellent tip! To add to it I always recommend running electric motors at no load for a few minutes before their first use.

Alot of tools are made in the same (mostly chinese) factory's and you just can pick your own brand name, and they will print that on your order. And all the big names also just slap their name on those cheap tools because those cheap tools are in fact very good because i use those socket sets who come in a plastic suitcase and cost 60 dollars, and even use the sockets on my impact wrench and never broke one of them, so cheap doesn't mean bad anymore. And as you can see, the tools in the video are exact the same, only the blue one is expensive because it came from the snap on store, so when snap on has it in its collection, then it must be good, is the illusion that they want to create and sell.

the snap-on branded air tools are made by florida pneumatic in the us, but the blue-point branded stuff has always been made overseas by somebody else. in the 80's blue point stuff was made in japan, in the 90's it was made in taiwan and now all blue-point stuff is made in china or taiwan.

You just proved what I always thought was a fact now I know-at least about this tool that Snap On's days are numbered. I also read that my heavy duty HF 3 ton floor jack came from the same factory that makes the Snap On Jacks~!! Mine cost $99 and I bet Snap On's is about $300 plus. Thanks for your time on this video as there can be no denying that they came from the same manufacturer.

Ummm, newsflash.... blue point is NOT the same as Snap On. Nothing blue point is proprietary. It’s all rebranded built buy someone else. Thats why its called blue point and not snap on. The only thing in common is the truck that sells the 2. Buying blue point anything is foolish

Sorry Snap On is Latin for "I am a fool for buying a $50 dollar tool for $200". If you have a mechanical background the Harbor Freight unit is basically the same unit and to increase the power is simply clean up the air valve porting. Have had one for years and used the shit out of it and have had no issues and I did clean up the air valve and it made a significant improvement. Did the same to their other air tools, and they gained a shitload of power.

As comments posted below, yes oil should be used every time you use it and before you put it away. As for quality, you usually get what you pay for, but since a SnapOn truck is dealer owned, it cost them a lot for license, Fees, franchise, truck fuel, maintenance and a pay check. I don't think anyone out there believes SnapOn makes everything, much less the Blue Point line. Sockets, wrenches, ratchets and most of all of the hand tools in this category can not be beat. I have been an ASE Master Tech since 1978 and impact swivel sockets that was used everyday, lasted years. I have cracked them, bent them and other failures but each time I new why. Now, Harbor Freight, Sears Craftsman, MAC, OTC, Kent-Moore, etc., all have tools that can not be made the same way because that would infringe on copy rights. The design and materials, sometimes the manufacturing process is different. Tool boxes start with a design and SnapOns' are built in Algona, IA. Not everyone uses induction heating before a series of two or three strikes are made to produce the tool or socket. The alloy alone is different. I all comes down to what you do. If you make your living working out of your tool box everyday, most all of your hand tools will be SnapOn. I can afford to have a Craftsman break 3 weeks after I bought it...and I need that socket. The SnapOn socket of the same design or purpose has last me 14+ years before it broke. I had a moment of silence, before I stuck it on the magnet on my cabinet for SnapOn to replace while I was gone on a test drive. Just leave the receipt and take off. If you are a weekend warrior or DIY, buy what you can afford, just like me, I would choose how often I used it and what the chances are for it to fail. We don't all have someone to barrow a tool from with a 30 foot walk, then return. My policy, if I had to barrow it more than 3 times a month, I bought my own. I worked in the boonies as well at times in my life and if it breaks, your screwed. Either way, when your retire, it all come home and left for the next generation in the family if your lucky, but if you want to sell them, you only get pennies on the dollar. Hell, pawn shops want almost new price now. So buy what you are comfortable with if you retire, you still end up using them. Good video for this comparison. Retired Tech.

Thanks for the comment Dean, I totally agree with ya! The main reason I made this is because some people out there assume that everything In the van is made by god himself. Alot of guys cannot afford to have tools break on the job. Thank you for watching

@@dantweldering7384 Thanks for the kind words. The comparison video is pushing me into HF with a 20% coupon to get one. I have a frame to clean up on a 67 C10 that got an "LS" family 5.3L with 4L60 for over drive. Even as an old carb guy who rebuilt thousands of carbs, I enjoy the fuel injection for many reasons. It brings back memories of my first vehicle, a 65 C10 Apache that a contraction company truck. Wood bed was soaked in oil, diesel fuel and waste oil as they serviced their large equipment on the job site. It would not rot. Yes, I say I have broken SnapOn tools before, but I knew why each time! Good video. When a guy take the time to do a side-by-side tear down with good vocals and pics, give him a thumb up and subscribe. I enjoy a guy willing to do this just from curiosity. Subscribed

When is the last time you ran any oil through those things? They both look dry as a bone. Also, calling bluepoint a snap-on tool is like calling grape juice wine. I get it, you got it off the truck, but there's a reason it doesn't say snap on down the side of it, and there's a reason it doesn't carry the same warranty. Definitely NOT top of the line. Bluepoint is the "economy" branded stuff they sell to people who bitch about snap on prices. (myself included, I've got several BP pieces) but you can't compare it and call it Snap-on either. It's misleading. Buy the $350 one from snappy and then compare.
@maknifeandrods7701
@maknifeandrods7701 5 лет назад
Pat Washington if you sell a tool and have it in your truck then you have to think they check the quality because even though it has your other name it it part of snap on. So if you are going to sell a lesser product don’t take advantage of your customers by selling a $10 gun for $125. They are a rip off company and always have. Sorry that your married to them. I guess you have been taken for a life time.
@patwashington403
@patwashington403 5 лет назад
@@maknifeandrods7701 I'm sorry you're naive enough to feel that way. For starters, you have absolutely no idea how the sales industry works. Why do you think every auto parts store you walk into has a "good, better, best" option? Because their main objective is to sell you something, ultimately separating you from your money. So regardless of your financial situation, or requirements, there's a good possibility you're going to choose one of those options. And it's called capitalism. If you're not interested in doing your own research into a product before buying, that's on you pal. You deserve to get taken advantage of. Try taking some personal responsibility for your actions instead of blaming the big bad snap-on guy for taking advantage of you because you're too damn lazy to look out for your own interests. You presumably looked over the part where I mentioned that I have some bluepoint stuff because it didn't help you support your already weak point. Keep buying your Stanley tools, and I'll buy the tools that suit me. Just stay the hell out of my box shade tree.

@@patwashington403 first of all I'm 66 years old and have been in the sales business for over 40 years. Sec. your attitude sucks because you seem to think your way or the highway. Sorry about that narrow minded attitude you are expressing. If you don't think companies are not trying to find cheaper ways to make a profit in this Chinese supplied world you are screwed up more than I already think you are. Keep thinking the more I pay the better the product. Sorry to step on your snap on buddies toes . they have been around for a long time and are good but don't think that quality over profit is the standard in this country. I have seen quality equipment go south because of competition and profits. I don't believe in it that but it is there. Please don't respond to this with your stupid comments. thank you.
@patwashington403
@patwashington403 5 лет назад
@@maknifeandrods7701 well, seeing as you felt the need to reply in the first place to my comment, I feel I owe you the same courtesy. You're 66 but you feel compelled to call something you disagree with 'stupid'. I think we can both agree that while I'm no rocket scientist, I'm by no means stupid, and Id like to think my comments are pretty common sense. My 'narrow-mindedness' comes from logic. You don't want to pay expensive prices and buy an inferior product, well then I think you forfeit the right to complain about that product and try to pass it off as a snap-on product. If you paid 3x the price, and still got shafted, well then that's absolutely on the manufacturer. Seems pretty straight forward to me, but if you want to continue to argue with 66 years of experience in feelings, I'll continue to rebut with common sense logic all day long. Please, DO respond with YOUR comments. It only makes you look more absurd and continues to justify my point.

Wow, don't expect that kind of quality from Snap-On, identical entry- level tool with a massive mark-up. I think you'd find that all the variance other than the valve are due to quality control. Could be that the aluminum valve is standard and harbor freight had it changed out due to cost. Also, I've never seen anybody use a needle gun the way you do, pushing down with all your weight, that's like a first day apprentice with a drill, pushing with all his weight. - What's the point? Only difference is that there's probably more slop in the HF due to a year's use and abuse. The Blue Point is not worse than the HF bud, they're the same, your one just wasn't built as good.

First of all, thanks for watching, what I was showing in this video is that they are virtually the same. Also, I obviously don't use a needle gun with all my weight, I was just showing the power difference. As I said in the video, the bluepoint would ''stall'' with hardly any pressure. Also, the one from HF worked like that since I got it. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment brotha
