The real hard mode of animal crossing is turning off the game and trying to accomplish the same thing but in real life without going turbo broke in the first week
Meanwhile….. Me when playing Animal Crossing: *visits dream islands* The real hard mode is trying to resist visiting dream islands. There’s so many cool ones to see!
I been playing this game ever since the game came out and I still enjoy the game. I've given myself a set of goals to achieve throughout the years and now I'm working on one that I'm sure I won't complete by the time the next Animal Crossing game comes out. It's to collect every single villager portrait. I placed some restrictions to prolong the challenge like I can only bring in one new villager and until I get that villager portrait, no one else can leave. As sometime who doesn't time travel I don't see myself competing this lol but it gives me a reason to play everyday. I look forward to the surprise when I get the villager portrait.
i tried this on my first island... except even without the rule about not letting villagers leave, i got through about 50-60 photos and then got frustrated and just grabbed all of them from a treasure island. i restarted in november and now i'm trying to get the photo of every villager who moves in but i also never stop a villager from leaving, even if i haven't gotten their photo yet. once i get to a certain ratio, like 6/10 villagers have given me their photo, i start replacing them with amiibo campers. right now i'm trying to have all-bunny villagers in time for bunny day, and so far i'm up to 3...
@@dietotaku oh that's cute gathering all the bunnies for the bunny day coming up. Good luck with that! Haha it's funny that what have me the idea for the new goal was what I was doing in Pocket Camp. The campers at my site couldn't leave until they hit level 20 to give me the portraits and the sparkle stone crafting item. I should also go ahead and do the Hello Kitty villagers just because I won't find them while I'm villager hunting. I just have to hope that the personality matches up with one of those HK villagers. I like to have a one for one replacement determined by their personalities.
I wish there was an update that included unrefined gems and crystals in the ground instead of just fossils. Then there could be a gem/crystal wing added to the museum and maybe even a new NPC to make items for you like jewelry
I did try out acnh hard mode, but after reaching 3 stars on my island and being the type of player that doesn't socialize much with other online players. I found out that it just wasn't for me. So I decided to quit the challenge and play normally. But I intend to play on this island without time travelling.
Yeah I thought the same thing The markets n such sound nice but just not my thing Also I made my island with my mom and I don’t want to delete our hard work, especially since it’s really nostalgic to return to
as someone who’s never really decorated her island besides placing a few signs and planting flowers here and there, i’ve been customizing it more lately and now i can’t believe i had overlooked that aspect of the game for so long speaking of another mechanic i hadn’t tried before, i started planting crops and i think it’s a pretty cool addition to my daily routine and Happy Home Paradise is also a really fun side mode which forced me to develop my imagination quite a bit to make the houses interesting and visually appealing
i’m mainly trying to complete all the nook mile achievements, the hardest probably for me is wisp since there’s no guarantee he shows up, so lots of time traveling after 10pm, i’ve progressed quite a lot in these past few years, but still a long way to go. i was never one to do big builds so i’ve also been trying to decorate areas to the fullest
I've sorta settled on my island layout at this point, but the idea to completely take down all my decorations, move the houses, and change things up completely has definitely bounced around in my brain a lot. I'm still considering it honestly!
I reccomend it a lot, I just did it about a month and a half ago and I'm just now getting to actually decorate and have fun doing builds. I loved doing the terraforming again and designing my island layout before actually flattening and it helps so much
It's really fun to slow down and do things you might have missed out on, even if you don't play this mode! Thanks for all of the suggestions for challenges :D
I find it funny that Hardmode even exists. There are people who are so addicted to rushing through this leisurely life sim game that they had to *make RULES for themselves* in order to slow down and enjoy the day to day of living on an island paradise? Foreign concept to me. Granted, I'm the type of person who is content to do my daily chores and say hello to everyone before putting the game down for the day unless I'm working on something like catching a rare fish or decorating.
I have been doing my own version of hard mode for over a year now. I can only let a villager go if I have their photo, and I want to get all the villagers. I am cataloging everything in at least one color and getting every DIY. I am not using any treasure islands. I have to finish the museum, open all of the shops at harvs, collect all bug and fish models, upgrade my house and all the storage space..basically just play the game and finish it without "cheating". I only time travel if I am decorating and want to open a bridge or incline- other than that no time traveling. It's been fun. I also have my main island that I am playing "hard mode" and then I have a second island where I just decorate and then delete and start over. There are just a few things I don't like about nintentalk's hard mode which made me not want to do it. I don't like waiting for NPCs to sell, wearing my own designs etc. That's just too tedious for me.
I’ve been doing themed islands for the last year and a half. It keeps it interesting. I have 14 DAs at this point. It helps to have 2 switches. But I did not restart my launch island for 2 1/2 years or I’d have lots more. Slowing down lately but still loving this game.
@@Lilycatxo i am too lazy, too attached to even restart... so i am stuck at 1; was hoping they would add a feature to keep multiple DAs through one island..
@@ademord I restarted my island once on my birthday thinking that the island would age with me. Then I regretted doing that and stopped playing (this was september of last year). Now I am happily playing again since Tuesday. Resetting is a hard pill for some lol.
It’s sad we could play the past games for so long and still have fun and now we need to put limiters on what we can do to keep it interesting. This was really a design simulator, not a life sim or village like past games.
I have actually never finished a build, the museum or found all items. My first island burned down when my switch died the first year so I had to start fresh so after that I just kept building & rebuilding than a friend got me into flowers now my island looks like someone throw up flowers everywhere and decided to throw junk all over it lol I am in processors flattening it 😆 (keeping all my flowers of course)
I've been playing this game ever since it came out. My island STILL isn't all the way decorated! I'm not sure what look I'm going for. I wanted to do a Dark Academia look but I don't think that's ever going to happen. Right now, I'm hunting down bamboo, breeding flowers for dark ones, and collecting a BUNCH of stone. I'm trying to put the broken pillars all over my island. I've also been going to Happy Home island to collect vines and glowing moss. This is all for the lower part of my island, I'm not even sure what to do upstairs. I also need statues, so I need Red and I need to collect K.K's songs. I didn't play much over the years due to dislike of my island. I don't want to reset my island because I have rare villagers. In 2020 I got Sherb and Reynond by pure accident and most recently; I got Pitire. I don't think I'll be that lucky ever again in my life.
I would try the hard mode out if I had another system, or if it was possible to have multiple islands on one system. I just don't want to lose everything I've been working on for the past three years just so I could do the hard mode.
My hardmode island ultimate goal is to host every villager possible (excluding Sanrio ones since I do not have that amiibo pack). Without Nintendo Online. And maximum 1 NMT villager hunts. My non-hard mode island ultimate goal is to create an island that tells my parents' stories (especially since they are no longer around). And then write journals of the resident representatives (and in my non-hard mode island, her cousin) experiences and post them on my Archive of Our Own account.
I've been playing really casually for the most part and not binging the game so there's still a lot of things in the game to do (museum stuff, for example!) One thing that can add another dimention to gameplay is if you're learning a new language, Animal Crossing can be a pretty great tool. If you're learning a language the Switch supports you can put your system in that language and the game (I think) switches automatically. I practice conversational phrases by greeting my villagers or trying to repeat back what they said in my target language. Also I've written so many more letters now because I'm practicing new phrases, etc.
I've never restarted my island, but I have leveled it to the ground a few times. My island looks NOTHING like the one I started 3 years ago. I refuse to time travel and I am still missing that ONE bug that completes my museum that I can't get until January (Southern Hemisphere: Walking Leaf). I am still working on getting my perfect population of villagers and befriending each to give me their photos. It seems there's always something to do, albeit that I don't play for hours and hours daily like I used to.
I restarted my island back in September, so I've got a bit of collecting to go yet. I have been getting DIYs I never managed to find the first time around, though, so that's been cool.
I have all of the furniture variations, and I’m one sock away from having every color and article of clothing. I have all the diys too. Now I’m getting all of the fish and bug models
Always always always close your game after missing a fish for the 100 fish in a row goal. Do not save. Just exit to the menu then close the game. Reload the game, and you’ll be set back to your previous auto save. Check how many fish you had at the time of the auto save. Catch another fish then check again to make sure you don’t have to do it all over again. Get that goal done first.
The way that I keep it interesting is, I just play it once in a while, like once a week about. Then it feels fresh, and my Acnh battery is all charged for whatever I plan to do (decorating and expanding my museum)
Flee market thing is cool, but only selling to flick and CJ is actually easy mode. Cause that's better than selling to the nooks. Also I already played on my own hard mode. I never time traveled, any patterns on my island were made by me in game, never visited a treasure island. And I even went on some 200+ island hunts for the dreamies I got. Thing is I'm now nearly 900 hours into the game and I'm at this weird place where I really don't have much left to do and I kinda don't wanna do it, cause I don't want it to be over, but I wanna do it cause I wanna finish it lol.
I have a house on one island that I was using a while back to try to max out my HHA score. I'm planning on going back to it to see if the 2.0 items and HHP stuff make a difference. I was around 370K points when i stopped before.
when i got bored of my island on my launch day switch i decided to upgrade to the oled model but stopped myself from carrying my island over, instead i made myself start again and i loved it so much.
On my new island I'm challenging myself to decorate my home without buying items. Stuff I shake from a tree, pop from the sky, or make myself. Also, to only wear clothes given to me by my villagers or that I make.
well they are japanese, so likely they'd be working hard for us anyhow, but now they are working hard on new games rather than ac as a gas game as a western developer would push a la fortnite
No, this isn't a matter of not updating your games. ACNL was PHENOMINAL and it took me a very long time to get bored of it. Besides bug fixes, there was a single update that I could frankly have done without. This is a matter of the game itself being empty and passionless. The villagers have nothing interesting to say, a good chunk of characters were cut, everything is very easy and handed to you on a silver platter, the island feels very small, etc. There's just so little in this game compared to the previous titles. I still enjoy this game, I'm a huge fan of the series, but they 100% needed to fill it with other stuff than updates upon release. The updates helped but it was like putting a band aid over a stab wound. They focused too much on the mechanical aspects we wanted changed and rushed the release, losing the passion in favor of sending the game out. No update can fix the fact this was a flawed piece. I hope they can go back to New Leaf and take the mechanical developments of New Horizons to it. The series heart being missing could drive this franchise to the ground.
All I have left in my island is to finish collecting the 232 photos that I don't have yet, the fishing 100 fish in a row nook mile I came up 2 fish short on and 23 happy home paradise vacation homes. I was pretty organized from day one about collecting every item in each variation and crafting and collecting all the DIY recipes. I fully finish my island and then redid it when i was ready to really put all my creativity into it. With that said I'm slowly chugging away at the last 3 things I am working on and only doing the first 2 listed when I actually have the gumption. I do one vacation home a day through amiibo cards so I know I get everyone's homes done but once that is finished I am going to either actually work harder on the photos and fish achievement or work more on my second island because it is less grindy imo haha.
A thing that i have planned thats been going on for the past 3 years is to collect all the nook miles achievements and the max amount of nook miles still nowhere near done
I luckily haven't run into this problem yet because one of the joysticks snapped off my joycon almost two years ago so I couldn't use my switch and I finally got around to fixing it a month ago. so now I'm experiencing all the fun 2.0 stuff for the first time
honestly I just really got into animal crossing but a way I keep it interesting is to not time travel. I have to wait a day for restock or to put a house or campsite somewhere else if I alrrady moved something. it slows things down. I also don't have a set aethetic for my island which has made it a lot more relaxing.
I wish I could Mod the game to have the villagers say more interesting things, but now i've just made up little stories for them, currently Pietro has a crush on my character and its a little awkward ngl
I'm making an effort to craft every single recipe I have. I have to wait for some fish to come back in season or for Sahara to have a certain wallpaper. But the worst is all the Bunny Day recipes mean I have to actively participate this year :(
i recently restarted my island because i had been off it for almost a year and didnt like it, and I can honestly say its fun and refreshing being able to relive the experience of starting up your own islan again, even if tom nook is scamming me for half my bells :,)
It seems like a lot of people who started playing animal crossing with ACNH expect a lot of updates and new content in the game but…. Old games never got that! This is how animal crossing games typically are. Just having the DLC and new events/items blows my mind.
I've had my og island this whole time, I made other accounts on my switch so I can decorate 2 player homes now too, but I still haven't finished my island at all
I've completely restarted my island and while it came out, I quickly had the goal to get the photo of every villager and I'm still working on it. So yes, I play the game every day. And my new island isn't designed yet at all^^
i haven't played animal crossing in around a year now and really want to start playing again... but debating onnstarting over or continuing.woth my current one.. like i half want to start over with collecting stuff but also don't want to loose certain items cause I'm worried i won't get them again since I don't play online 🤔
I wonder what the new game will be about?…Space Colonization maybe? Imagine nook selling space on a special Space station only for the shuttle carrying the Protagonist getting sucked into a wormhole a d being marooned on a alien planet while the rest of tue passengers are hibernating in escape pods scattered all over the planet. No you and your Robot companion (Robo Nook) must terraform the planet, build shelter and find as many survivors as you can…yeah thats kind of crazy
I haven't gotten tired of new horizons because I played new leaf the exact same way. My goal is to make as many cool dream addresses as possible, so I always have a new theme to work on. Plus my main island I'm keeping as a 100% complete file so I can get furniture to my other islands easier. I also collect consoles and shiny hunt, so grinds don't really bother me at all I guess
All I do in Animal Crossing is buy items and them decide I don’t want them then realize maybe I will later so I dump it somewhere and now I have a trash island.
I've done a lot of things on my various different Islands I've had although I did have my dream villager anka on one of my old Islands I got bored of it and now my Island that have currently which I started yesterday I'm doing a theme for after my state Indiana I also named it Indiana I do this because I really appreciate where I grew up especially going to do the museum build themed after the children's museum because of the Indiana has the biggest children's museum in the United States so I'm excited to do that when I get past KK slider
The thing keeps me playing this, and the reason why this is the best AC game in my opinion, is because i love the atmosphere of the game, the chill music, and that my creativity can just work it's A*s off when playing, it's amazing, if Bayonetta didn't dance as long as there's music, this would be my favorite game of all time!
I wish the game had some sort of "mode" you set when you started your character which limited the way other people online could interact with you. I want to play with all of my friends, even meet strangers too, but I don't want to pay with my hard earned bells for an item that someone exploited their game to get- that's never seemed fair and always felt like I'm getting items too easily myself Ruins my online experience
I have found myself restarting my island every 4-6 months and trying to keep at least one for longer 😂 i hate the fact we cant change our island name or the characters name. I get tired of thr same names after a while and keep doing the cycle over and over lol..
After decorating and trying to finish up my island for the past 3 years, I've just decided to tear down most of it and redo it. I hated one part of my island so I tore it down, and then I noticed something else looked wrong so I tore that down... and one thing led to another... oops.
I've recently completed my DIY / cooking recipe collection, as well as my furniture catalogue (excluding variants, cause Cyrus exists now). Without online trading this would have been an impossible task, the RNG aspect on collection is just way too bad otherwise lol
I’ve already restarted my island because man I have a hard time staying interested in this game. Despite my restart I still haven’t touched the game since 2021, no clue why ACNH is just impossible for me to get into. While a hard mode seems interesting, I’m not sure it’s gonna be enough for me to want to be able to play again
My friend and I are doing a villager hunt roulette, where we randomized 10 villagers that we hunt for by amiibo number and the number of tickets we can spend per hunt should we want to end the hunt early
