I got the same score as you and also missed the heat conductor question (I thought it was copper) and the moon size (thought it was 18%) which was an auspicious beginning. Had to guess on a couple of others (name of rocks ejected from a volcano was one) but got lucky and guessed correctly. I knew tesseract from the Captain Marvel movie.

@@Dr.TJ1 A couple of things: A multiple choice test measures more than the number of facts that you may have memorized - it tests deductive reasoning and critical thinking skills. Additionally, this is mostly mid-range high school material today - I graduated high school in 1968, so if you are not devoted to life-long learning, you could wind up an old fool, spouting gibberish....like the MAGA cult.

when comparing the relationship of the moon to earth try using diameter, mass or volume rather than 'size' as they are all different. It's diameter is about 27% of the earth but it's mass is just over 1% so 2 of your answers are both correct

@yzScott
@yzScott 2 года назад
By volume, the 2% is best for the moon. The question doesn't specify what we're measuring. And by mass, it would be 1.2% Several other questions were technically incorrect or ambiguous. There was nothing I could not answer before consulting the options except most chromosomes per organism. (trivia) 19 of 20.
@Jinn174
@Jinn174 2 года назад
Measuring volume compared to the Earth, if the Earth was a 4 liter bottle of water for example, the moon would be a 1 liter bottle. So you think the moon is 1/50 the size of Earth by your comment, not sure where you get that the Moon's mass is 1.2% of Earths either, it is easy to work out the mass of the moon, just a basic equation.
@yzScott
@yzScott 2 года назад
@@Jinn174 Really? What's that basic equation? If you don't know the moon's density, you're gonna have fun with that. The moon's mass has been measured in other ways. I'm quoting those figures. Also 4 liters to 1 liter would... 1/4 the size... Yes, it is 1/50 the size by volume.
@fubblitious
@fubblitious 2 года назад
This was the loosest question and gave me 13 instead of 14 (!) as I did not have the linear answer either, but the question variety was fun and I learned a couple of things along the way.
@Skank_and_Gutterboy
@Skank_and_Gutterboy 2 года назад
@@Jinn174 So you're saying the moon is 1/4 the earth's volume? No it isn't. Volume of a sphere is 4/3*pi*r^3. Calculate it for yourself using 1079 miles for the moon radius and 3958 miles for earth radius. The moon's volume is on the order of 10^9 cubic miles and the earth is on the order of 10^11 cubic miles. Just looking at the powers of 10, there's no way the moon is 25% earth's volume. And please tell us what that simple equation is for mass. I can't take your word for it considering that you've screwed up everything else.
@waynehodgin1322
@waynehodgin1322 2 года назад
That's the same as saying a tennis ball is 31% the size of a soccer ball since a tennis ball's d=6.86cm and a soccer ball's d=22cm. The correct statement is; the size/volume of the Moon is 2% of the Earth's volume. Or, the size/mass of the Moon is 1.2% of the Earth's mass. Because of #2 people who don't know anything about math or astronomy will believe the Moon is a quarter the size of the Earth. IRRESPONSIBLE!!!!!

@whoviating
@whoviating 2 года назад
The difference between size and volume does matter, and I like some others assumed diameter. However, I'd say "no" to mass as as option because we would in that context normally refer to an "amount" of mass, not a "size" of mass: Applied to mass, "size" is usually a characteristic (e.g., "a sizeable mass"), or, to put it another way, used to describe a quality, not a quantity.

I gave this quiz to GPT-4-turbo, and it got 18 of 20. Although it knew, when asked later, that diamond has a much greater conductivity than copper, it chose copper for Q 1. It also knew the number of chromosomes for every choice in question 13, but made a simple arithmetic mistake by saying that 56 was greater than 80 - this type of arithmetic mistake is a known issue with Large Language Models. - I had initially given it a version of the test without the multiple choices, and it answered all questions that were not open ended correctly and gave an explanation. - I then gave the same test to Claude 3 Opus, and it made the same mistakes. When asked to “think step-by-step”, it got the answers to questions 1 and 13 correct.

Great point. (No, I'm not just automatically agreeing with you!) It's possible that the given answer would be correct for the first few meetings of the "group", but would rapidly become closer to your far more nuanced answer as the "group" continues with its interminable agenda, grinding each member's identity and freewill down, until full brainwash has been achieved! The slow march...?

I only got five. That’s better than I thought I would do-science isn’t my bag. I only took four science courses in my entire schooling, and I flunked one of them. I only stayed for the jazz. 😂 Michael Del Brown at the end there. Good taste.

18 correct. I am a retired science teacher. I should have got the moon size, I suppose, but it was poorly written. Is "size" diameter, volume, or mass? I knew that the moon's gravity is about 1/6 that of Earth. 1/6 is 17%. The chromosome question seems quite trivial. We should know the number of chromosomes of every species? And there are no principles to apply to guess the answer, because chromosome numbers are largely arbitrary.

Got an 18. I was quite surprised that diamond is the best conductor--I always thought that it was Gold, with Copper as second. Also didn't know that pigeons have that many chromosomes. I guessed strawberry, as I know that some plants have a ridiculous number. Nice quiz.

I am no scientist, but I consider myself to be fairly well read in the arena of science and I got 9 right although there were a couple that I got right and then changed my mind, gotta learn to trust my instinct. That was a truly testing Quiz, which makes a change on YT, I usually find myself getting 80%+ on these so called hard quizzes.

17/20, Diamond question (#1) had a surprising answer. Request: please make these quizzes quicker: i watched this one on speed setting 2, and i had to wait and wait for the answer. With the science you either know or not, there is no need to have time for guessing.

For the Moon-Earth question you need to specify whether you mean diameter or volume. For volume, 2% is the correct answer. The last question: there is no extinction caused by 'ocean acidification'. The ocean's pH has changed from 8.2 to 8.1 in a century and is still stubbornly alkaline. That change is much smaller than natural variation in pH.
@MikesTropicalTech

15/20. Your question about the Moon's "size" is ambiguous. Your answer was comparing diameter, but it could also have meant volume or circumference.

Indeed, this was a hard quiz. I missed 1 question, and that was #4...(3!).I took 5 years of mathematics in 4 years of high school, (algebra 1 & 2, geometry and solid geometry, and trig.. and don't remember ever seeing or learning what that meant. Anyway, I learned something new and that is great. I am 75 and a person should never stop learning. You do a great quiz. Thank you! 😊 👍 🤔Keep making us think!!
