The song predates the American Civil war by several years, but it became more widely known during the war. Over time it became an emotional anthem for Americans-especially those who study the Civil War and the post war reconstruction era. This song has been a favorite for Mark for many years. When the time came to arrange and record it, he felt that James Mangan had the perfect voice for such a beautiful melody. The video was filmed in the Wasatch mountain range in North Central Utah.
