One of the few real tests of Pohl Force knives. Most reviews on YT re Pohl Force knives are nothing more than advertisements for these knives, which are not cheap.

Great testing session. Perhaps not controlled or scientific enough for some, as all forces could not be reproduced exactly the same for both knives. The guy did seem to do his best to be equal and fair. It was entertaining as well as telling for an overall display of how well each knife will perform under the tests and forces/stresses shown. Thanks for taking the time to do the test, film it and share it here for everyone to see. Bravo!

I have owned and used six different Cold Steel knives since 1983 (4 fixed blades, 2 folders)....every one gave excellent service. IMHO, good working man`s knives, especially considering the reasonable price.

You deserve some kind of award for continuing to test the Pohl after its fold failure! Best tests on the internet! THX!

very good video !! thank you for your sacrifice of the expense .....I expected the PF to do a bit better than it did but in the overaqll I was pretty sure the cold steel would win ..still the PF should've held up a bit better for the amount of money it cost....again thank you for your sacrifice so that we may make the best decision on how our money is sent

А Вы не рассматривали вариант,что спартан искривился в следствии того,что попали киянкой не по обуху,а непосредственно по плоскости ножа (22-36 видео)? Если всё таки искривился от удара,то это несколько меняет дело.

It's hard to judge the Pohl Force for being reliable for chopping or batoning when it had already had the locking mechanism broken. For all we know it would break when chopping or batoning too. Spartan is the clear winner. Super powerful locking mechanism. Pocket machete.

Спасибо за видео!) Однозначная победа Спартана. Лучше нож с кривым лезвием, чем сломанный нож. Эхх... А я за Поль Форс болел.)) Нужно им этот Hard use показать, пусть допилят напильником.))) Ножи конечно, очень харизматичные и брутальные.)) Но если быть честным, то позиционирование их, как ножей для специальных армейских подразделений - это просто маркетинговый трюк. Рассчитанный на людей, далеких от военного дела. Что такое складной нож? (фолдер) Это испорченный, гораздо менее надежный и вдобавок увеличенный в весе и цене - фиксед.)) Сугубо гражданская вещь, адаптированная для скрытого ношения в городе. В серьезном походе, или в зоне боевых действий, фолдеры неактуальны. Там нет необходимости, прятать свой нож. Исключение составляют, разве что - швейцарские армейские ножи. Но это уже не оружие, а компактный и многофункциональный походный инструмент.

Still the absolute best knife testing channel. Period.

Отличный продуктивный тест. Достаточно посмотреть один такой ролик, чтоб на все 100 оценить качество ножа, а не собирать отзывы у десятка пользователей. По больше бы таких видио. Автору ролика РЕСПЕКТ!

I have recently procured a Pohl Force Alpha 2 in D2 thanks to your video and it seems rock solid. Ok. I did test the lock on my own hand (ouch!), but was rock solid and good enough for me. I think it should be mentioned in this video that you should not use knives this way, unless you want to destroy them. Blade play is bound to happen sooner than later, and once the knife is chipped and half-ruined, the operator may wish to change it. So in my mind a reasonable use with great haptics and optics is better than a single strong lock without the design I like. In this sense, Pohl Force wins for me! Of course interesting to see the limitations.

Thats why I buy mostly Cold Steel knives. If they only would use some harder steel....

Wow! Pohl did a lot better than i expected! And to be 440C, that's outstanding! And from the looks of the vid, i believe the only reason Cold Steel's Spartan bent, was because if you watch closely he hit the spartan a little on the side, giving it uneven force. BUT that doesn't excuse the fact it still bent. Anyway, like he said, and i believe this true. The Cold Steel Spartan is an total beast!! Thanks for the awesome vid! ;)

Idk where this guy went. He was the most methodical hard use tester I’ve ever seen. Whether you think it’s reasonable or excessive, he would do the same thing, in the same order, every time, and every time, a knife would fail along the way. The Benchmade adamas is the only one I saw make it to the end (and I bought one because of it). I have a lot of cold steels, his test invariably break the blades , but these old vids predate CS using better steel.

Я тоже владелец ножей альфа два, со сталями д2 и 440с, 11 и 13 года соответственно. Могу сделать предположение, что данный нож бракован, так как мои ножи не сложились ни об доску, ни после подвешивания 150кг груза. Уважаемый Vininul, обратитесь в гарантийный сервис, он в отличии от других ножевых фирм, работает отлично. Лично проверял на предмет замены стеклобоя. Ответ в течении суток, отправка запчастей спустя час после ответа. Удачи

Im fine with the results of the spartan. I bought it as a self defense blade. Im not going to build a house with it. The lock system is amazing, the handle is awesome as well as the blade shape. And aus 8 is just fine for general use and defense.

Видео попало прямо в тему, спасибо Алекс! Выбирал нож-лом-топорик в пределах 300$ для походов и на долгую службу. Уже готовился заказывать альфу, после просмотра обзора от Вавухи он очень понравился и сразу руки зачесались. Вспомнил про твой канал, посмотрел и расхотел. Не ожидал, что такой адский беклок срежет сам себя :) В итоге заказал спартан, который изначально даже не рассматривал.

the pohl force is a $250 while the cold steel is $70.not really apples to apples.

Vininull is The Terror of knife makers :P so ... the GANZO G704 (at 12 USD) will do better than the 200+ dollars Pohl Force ... amazing. And Coldsteel ... well, truly amazing, too. Best from Greenland.

Spartan получил тяжелое повреждение клинка, но выжил. К тому же кромку повело только на половине клинка. Даже если сточить клинок на 5мм от Spartana особо не убудет ) Если в жизни возникнет ситуация, в которой нож необходимо будет использовать подобным образом, думаю что такие повреждения мало кого взволнуют. Да и благодаря пластинке-вэйву удобнее нажимать на клинок - мелочь, а приятно. При этом Spartan в два раза дешевле Alfa 2. Мое мнение в этом специфичном субъективном тесте спартанец победил

Excellent test, but Spartan is not bent because of hollow ground geometry, but because you hit it with the hammer on the side (time 22:36). Other than that all the other damage on the Spartan is easily fixable with sharpening. Exellent test once again!

Looks like the Pohl Force is better for light cutting and the Spartan is a much stronger and better hard use knife. Thanks so much for this test!

Cold Steel makes a fantastic product. I have their two-handed latin machete, katana machete, and the new double-edged Chaos trenchknife. The trenchknife is AMAZING. A little impractical, but truly a work of art.

Ты чего-то путаешь чувак, при чем тут забавы. Нож -это инструмент, и я им пользуюсь на охоте и на рыбалке, и мне интересно как поведет себя та или иная модель ножа при силовом использовании. Но рубить дерево обухом я еще не пробовал, так же как и забивать гвозди калькулятором.

I'm buying that Spartan ! A question vininull, i have some problems with sharpening Cold Steel knives (recon 1, lawmen)and it's not a hard steel. I have no problems with tenacious, Rat 1, Sog and even Spyderco VG10 or S30V on the Spyderco sharpmaker. So any suggestions on how you sharpen your CS knives? And wich angle works best?

would you say the tri ad lock is better than the axis lock from benchmade?

по факту, победитель - это спартан. он, по крайней мере, остался целым. погнутие клинка, да, есть. но не отломалось от него ничего. им можно вполне безопасно пользоваться дальше. второй нож - ну... чего тут говорить, отломилась от него желязяка. в топку.

I wanna thank you for the sacrfice, now i have understand many things: - pohl force alpha 2 is a good knife with a bad bad BAD lock; blade, ergonomic handle, weight, keeping of the edge (edit, forgot to finish) are really good! - Cs is chinese (taiwanese?) production, bad steal (imho), bad ergonomic, heavy but with a GODLY strenght lock. I have to say that i expected more from Pohl force, i'm disappointed. Perhaps the new models (survival Mike outdoor from 1 to 4) are a little bit better! Have you tried them? Perfects subs, ista-locked inscription to your channel! :)

This is what happened ALPHA2 startling motive, something that would not have ever expected.Depressing quality, paying € 180 for a knife.

Насчет Спартана, радует то, что случилась все же пластическая деформация, клин не сломался, не лопнул и следовательно, в экстремальной ситуации им можно продолжать работать.

I'd beat the Spartan's blade back into shape. Their AUS8 is intentionally softer for durability, It probably bent from hitting it at an odd angle instead of perpendicular to the spine. Great tests!

I'm pretty sure the problem with the lock on the pohl isn't common, maby happens in 1 of 100 or 1000 (don't even know the brand, but doesn't looks like a cheap knife you'll expect to break). But for me, in a folding knife, the locking mecanism is the most important thing, i prefer to change the knife than cut my index finger to the bone (happened to me once, wasn't very nice) and in locking mecanism, there's nothing like cold steel... Really like your videos, with the tenacious vs rat 1 i decided to go ontario :P

Эх, если бы КолдСтилы начали ставить на клинки лучшую сталь, цены б им не было. Или хоть АУС-8 правильно оттермиченную, как на Крысе. А то дизайн ножей у них часто интересный, замок великолепный, а сталь... Я свой Спартан где и как только не использовал: рубил, резал, землю копал, всяко-разно экспериментально перетачивал, наконец, купил второй (потому что первый жалко стало - столько труда вложил), всё равно он остаётся одним из самых любимых, только вот сталь клинка:( Алекс, спасибо за тест!!!

Cold Steel Spartan could use 440C steel, as the Pohl Force Alpha, it will hold its edge longer, but I'm happy to have bought the Spartan.

Cold Steel made a very good blades ! A friend of mine have a 6' Ti lite and its just amazing knife ! Good video btw !

bought the pohl force, did some light testing, same problem...its just not safe. Ik believe they now use the framelock system like lion steel, so it will be improvement. all that said i still like the blade on the pohl force. the steel works fine and can hold an edge. with the money i got for the pohl force i boght a cold steel black rhino instead. ( did have to add some money for that deal offcourse)

Я еще при анонсе говарил, что бэклок у полфорса не выдержит. Я думаю что при целевом применении не плохоц нож.

Во первых, Hard use конечно не целевое использование ножей, и нужен чтобы выяснить пределы живучести конструкций и материалов, попутно оценив эргономику конечно (о чем кстати тоже было бы интересно послушать, ведь тактических перчаток может и не оказаться...). И во вторых, о Coldsteel: не дай бог конечно, но если судьба вынудит меня ВЫЖИВАТЬ, с ножом в руках, где нибудь в дали от цивилизации, то будет это раз в жизни, надёжности хватит с лихвой, зато сталь не перекалена и не сломается! Спасибо!

Что тут сказать?Спартан невероятно крепкий нож. И невероятно красивый, с сильнейшей харизмой. А с БД 1 он стал ещё лучше.Я считаю, что он прошел тест отлично, то, что повело РК, это ерунда, во первых, повело слегка, во вторых он остался рабочим, да и выправить клин не проблема. Не согласен, что сталь слаба. Да и доставалось Спартану явно сильнее, Поля берегли больше. А в целом очень классные видео, спасибо! Жаль, что больше не выходят...

Very interesting test. Thank you! Cold Steel has a super lock, maybe the best actually available. Would be nice if they would use a better steel. What do you think about their VG 1 they used in older models? I have a VG 1 Voyager. I guess they should have continued with that steel.

8:21 wow! "Folded - Folded - Folded..." I wasn't expecting that, and it's such a heavy knife. Lesson learned is weight does not equal strength. Just think about how they advertise this knife and the capabilities that are implied, several people even label these 'as strong as a fixed blade' oh Pohl Force, the shame.

Oh how i love the Cold Steel Tri-Ad-Lock, they may use weak steel, but at the end of the day you still have a functional Knife. A bent Knife is still a Knife, a Knife with a broken lock is not. Oh how i wish you would add Eng-Sub to all your videos, i know i know thats very time comsuming and iam pretty sure most of your audience is speaking Russian so it may be a waste... i still wish you would :-) have a great day !
