Went to school with the 2 bad mice guys. They were a couple of years younger than me and we bumped into them at many a rave. Top tunes.

I've said it many times before but them FOUL PLAY lads were a production powerhouse! Every single release they remixed and/or produced outright were iconic!

Omni Trio Renegade snares absolute spin tingling iconic, sonic pillar of British dance music history !!! And Omni Trio Thru The Vibe!! love that tune !!!!

Deep blue, helicopter tune. Amazing!. Also Cosmo and Dibs ,starry eyes . So many great tunes on this label.

Thanks for the video. I never tire of Music Takes You. Been listening to it for so long that it (along with others) feels like part of the fabric of me. Even now when the piano comes in on the 2BM remix I feel a wave of emotion, happy memories and some sadness that those days are gone. But I would never be without this music, it's so precious to me and I am grateful that I was there. The best times, never to be repeated. Shout out for Waremouse and also Dead Dred (Origin Unknown remix).

From 91>93, if you was out at any rave it's almost 100% that a moving shadow tune was played.Far to many awesome tracks to pick a fav.Gavin Cheung....what a legend !!

rob playford came up with the name Movin shadow after going to a event at the Astoria in London where he saw projected shadows on the walls created by the lasers and lights. he then payed for some logo ideas based on the images and that now stuck out and the rest is history as they say

Moving Shadow is one of the great 'backbones' of Drum N Bass music! Love Ram Trilogy!

Hyper On Experience - Lords of the Null Lines (Foul Play remix) is, I think, the best tune that Moving Shadow put out, amongst the many top tunes they released. The main drum break used in the track was a Simon Harris made break (of Music of Life records fame) and was probably sampled from the instrumental version of "I'm Riffin" by MC Duke. The "Effin voodoo magic man" vocal was sampled from the film Predator 2. I proudly own the original 10" release of this track and I wouldn't sell it for all the tea in China!

The "glitchy" effect, is gating. Many outboard effects of the day could be syncd to the midi clock, so panning left and right, delay etc could all be orchestrated. Nice channel. Feels like i'm digging through your crates.

Absolutely loved you got me burnin both original and remix…absolute tunage the both of em…classics of the 93 era Steve Gurly of Foul Play went on to become a huge UKGarage producer in the late 90’s I recall, producing heavy weight bass infused two step. Hyper on experience samples were from Predator 2 ( “F&£KING Voodoo Magic Man”) if you remember that one and the sound from the predator pulse gun when it was powering up and locking on to a target with Danny Glover as the hero. remember as I watched the film as a youngster and remember those sounds and the vocal with the rastas with the dodgy Jamaican accents 😂😂😂., Memory Lane fella…I was 15 at the time

I don’t know if you’ve seen it mate, but there is a top Jay Cunning interview with 2 Bad Mice on YT. Some great stories about their musical journey and the evolution of Moving Shadow. Well worth a watch.

Great video again! Have over 35 vinyl on this label! Foul Play tracks are all dope! Also have the original Section 5 you have. My copies exactly the same. Think they were all pressed like that!

Wicked video. 2 bad mice bombscare will always be a banger. It's a sample from Neon, Don't mess with this beat, Another classic. All the early shadow are part of the dna of our scene. I've got the same press of Foul play, finest illusion as you. After the Section 5 press a run with a black label came out. I wonder if it's a bit brighter sounding than the label release. 👊🏻

2 Bad Mice - Hold it Down, I heard this on a Mickey Finn mixtape that I bought from Kensington market and then went to buy the 12". Still love this tune, brings back a lot of memories. Keep the videos coming.

2 bad mice mix of music takes you is in my all time Hardcore top 10, the original is a classic but this mix takes it to the next level, blew my mind first hearing it back in spring 92 such a tune! Great vid as always!

Hearing Renegade Snares again after all these decades, just wow! Same wwith Lords of the Null Lines... I dont think I ever heard IT before, ever. Such a legendary tune... Man, I'd like to get some of these on vinyl one day.. Looking forward to watching more kabel profilen.

Was signed to this label in 94 on Robs house venture sister label (label is red) sold 2000 copies got ziltch, its now selling as a dl on apple music, Playpole as we called his was a shady guy but to have a contract from a rave phenomenon is enough, money wasn’t what it was about.

Renegade snares foul play remix was phernominal, ffs WOW 30 years old and is a quiality banger mate!!!! My first rave was Quest in wolvo 91, dropped a tab and got my nose broke with a head butt, one of the best nights of my life!!!!! Despite the broken nose 🤣

Another great release on this label was Oaysis Open Secrets what a tune. Sampled Rutger Haur (think that's how you spelt his nsme) from an old guiness advert.

Music takes you (2 bad mice rmx) is the track that got me into hardcore when I heard it on KT2.. that piano break in particular. I loved how it was kept as a short section and not made a fuss of.. cool modesty

Another great vid! The section you played of the Open Your Mind (Foul Play Remix), when the vocal sample drops in full "open your mind to me" always sends a little soul-shiver down my spine! The original is also a classic, especially when tunes these days are all DJ friendly with 32 bars of plain beats and the start and the end instead of anything musical, the original version of Open Your Mind goes all rave-tastic right at the end. Other producers would have made that outro the main part of the tune. Also, a bit of trivia over the Illegal mix of "Finest Illusion".. as the sample wasn't cleared and it was put out on Section 5 instead of Shadow if they got sued, Rob Playford asked Foul Play to change their name for the release so as to further obscure who was behind it. He was thinking they would choose something totally different, but they came back with "Foul Play Productions" lol. Also, they were never supposed to be called Foul Play, they were going to be Steve Gurley & 2-High, and Foul Play the title of their first EP, but because the Foul Play was more prominent, they had to go with that as an artist name. You did miss some classics, I.E. everything else ever released by Hyper On Experience, and the 1991 classic "No Idea" by Earth Leakage Trip.

Please take me back to 1992! The magical happy year. Fantastic selection and agree on the choices. Wicked!

I love these videos mate. I was gutted you missed out the foul play dub in you. But I had a look and realised only the remix was on moving shadow. That tune means so much to me and I find it mega emotional to listen to. Was one of the first tunes I heard on an old pirate station called exile fm in Birmingham. Big respect though bro. Keep it up I'm loving hearing all these. It's awesome. 💥😎

Foul Play were brilliant. Drowning in Her under the moniker as Four Horsemen is my favourite and I still have a copy. As for Shadow songs, Omni Trio Feel Good 95 mix is a massive favourite and Soul Promenade (nookie mix)

Two facts anout Moving Shadow. Thier first release was made by Simon Carter who went on to be a member of Spiral Tribe. Bombscare is, at its most reductive, a mash up of Dont Mess With The Beat by Neon, a Belgian tune, and Let Me Love You Rebuilt which was a bootleg made by Evil Eddie Richards.

Top tier label, so many amazing releases. Oaysis - Open Secrets/Enticer is a personal favourite.

I know they only started putting stuff out in 1994, but they're one of, if not THE, most influential label in D'N'B history. Sorry if their most significant releases fall outside of your' 91 - '95 window, but I'd still be interested in what you have to say about their back catalogue. Keep up the good work. Cheers!

Just found your channel, good stuff! Special era for me too. Moving Shadow....what to say really...... For me some others....Hyper on Experience The Frightner slick track, also the synth riff after the acid intro on The Threshold Of Sanity......awh yeah : ). Thunder Grip, Disturbance( Tango mix).....so many tunes. Pitch black (Boom Boom Version). Drumscare, Space Cakes (2 Bad Mice Remix), Illegal Subs....theres so many. I had No Idea what i was getting into when I scored my first Moving Shadow.

For me two records are missing: - SHADOW 38 - DJ Trax - High Time - SHADOW 31 - Bash Street Kids - The Power Of Darkness (Reprise) #31 is sooo underrated in my opinion.

The pioneering dj/production from 90’s rave scene gripped me in my youth and it still has a firm hold on me now. One of my favourite jams was YEAH YEAH YEAH : The Joker. The 90’s . Amazing for those that lived it and a wonderful inheritance for all future ravers stay blessed bro 💯👍🏻

I got most of these, but it got me wondering as you didn't mention it, does your version of Lord Of The Null Lines have the Voodoo Magic Man, sample from Predator 2? I got the 10 inch white Moving shadow and the Black 10 inch remixes. Which are labled completely different to the grey sleeve lol.

Moved well away from Drum n bass & Jungle when it came around. I did buy Earth Leakage Trip: No Idea, when it came out. Was it the first Moving Shadow Release? Also had 2 Bad Mice, Bombscare which contained two main samples Kariya Let Me Love You drums and some Euro New Beat track from 1989.

I 100% agree that the Legal Mix of Finest Illusion is superior. I for one am not a fan of the excessive chipmunk vocals on the original.

So many great labels from this era. Also like that many labels had sister labels that had a slightly different style

Maybe in the minority but I prefer the original mix of Lord of the null lines. The way it builds from half way through. The remix removes all the upbeat bits but is good in its own way.
