Love the Metalheads tune .It's proper mental ! I always migrated to Terminator but I'm going to give Knowledge a proper listen .Hearing all these amazing tunes from 91 , 92 & 93 has re ignited my love of this era . Just wish I'd bought more back then but I was 17 and skint !

Pursuit Thru The Darkness is amazing, such a balls to the wall tune with manic stabs, ruff breaks and just a battlecharge feel, like its unstoppable Hardcore, the Underground is taking over!! I think my first recollection of it being played was Ellis Dee at Fantazia 92 into 93. Mental style and such a sugar rush!! Can only imagine it was such a mad rushing moment when Lemon D was putting it together and arranged it into the beast it is! I love the way you critique and analyse the effects of the music and how it works for you. You have such a soothing style too, you could easily be a narrator for a good lengthy Hardcore documentary hehehe. Wicked Jake, I was only 16 in 1993 and still at school until May of that year. I remember very little too haha :D

Yes Jake another stormer! I first heard Ramos & Supreme Crowd Control at my school rave and when it dropped the place erupted! Kept thinking it was called The Journey as it’s labelled wrong on the record😂! 93 was quite a transitional year but there were tunes to be loved from all the spin off genres, keep up the great work 👊 PS just got a copy of Cloud Nine/Blacka Shade Of Dub EP & DJ Seduction/You & Me in the post! New subscriber here. The 90s rave scene was a bit before my time but my parents were hardcore ravers, DJs and Producers. I like to think videos like these give the following generation like myself a glimpse into what life was like back then. Keep it up mate 💪

I started my current job in 93 😮 we used to go to Quest in Wolverhampton, walk 5 miles home, then go straight to work on Sunday morning for Double time 😅

Love your channel Jake. You've got a real talent the way you talk about these tracks and that time. One thing I'd love you to cover in a future video is whether you think there's ever been a tv documentary that's covered what WE know as that 90s rave scene properly. I don't think there has and I've seen them all (I think). It seems like it always jumps from the second summer of love straight to Castlemorton via the stuff that was happening inside the M25 but without ever talking to actual ravers. I remember Fantazia One Step Beyond at Castle Donington, absolutely massive night but it never gets talked about other than by those of us who were there. Midlands scene and the regional scene in general was so strong but it ain't fashionable to talk about Derby or Coventry or any of them places! Haha, I got that Cyberflux EP - remember it was a really loud press, and that most of the tracks were shorter than typical at the time! Love it.

Great as ever - loved the Lemon D, I am pretty sure that I once owned it. Yes, Darkness and Darkcore, that was a sub genre from that time of 1993. Your descriptive of Tough-Toonz, incredible 'every-cell', I have always loved that tune, captures the Spirit of 1992 in 1993! As for the philosophy...so true, finding the beauty of what is there and how we lived. Great Jake!

A little too young to get into hardcore in 92 but when 93 came, oh my days, all over it. What a year! So many big tunes. Crowd control was just a tune me and my mates loved among many others.

The Orca ep is a classic ....gives me goose bumps everytime ...how awesome is this period of music ...nothing has all the elements like hardcore does...its dark but uplifting at the same time ...like the duality of this whirled perfectly blended together and so much energy its insane ...so glad i was there to exspirence the birth of something timeless and unique...good times i really miss those days ❤❤❤

Hi Jake, I think 1993 was the year I did what I like to call the year i went professional raving ..lol, learnt to dance properly and started Dj'ing, Remember (I think) that it went darker as the year went on and I ended the year listening to more techno DJ's like The Producer, Colin Dale, Loftgroover and the like. I think it was Universe's Tribal Gathering that was the biggy that year, i lost about five hours of consciousness there and still to this day can't remember what went on from 1-6am, just remember bowling up to the main stage as Carl Cox Started...Happy Daze.... Our local clubs were Goldiggers or Brunel Rooms, both now gone, but crazy times.... Anyhoo, great choons and mix, take it E.Z. gezzer.

93, would've been about 17, and at Roller Express and Bagley's mostly. Straight away when think 93 tracks, Dark Stranger always comes to mind as a favourite. ... Let's hear what you got in the selection 👍

Totally understand what you mean about the darker sounds. Don't think you can put it into words exactly; it's just something you feel. I really liked the slightly sinister edge anyway, but I agree it never felt evil. I guess it's partly the speed (bpm, just to clarify 😉 ), but I just can't ever imagine rave sending you into a depressed mood. The whole scene, outlook, lifestyle etc was so positive and optimistic - something to live for!And I guess that's also why they say 'once a raver, always a raver'. Turned 17 in '93, but once those tunes get going, could have been yesterday! Interesting though that the flip side for me is that when I am feeling down, I can't bring myself to listen to anything like this, even though it's so uplifting...think it's probably to do with the fact I'd then start wishing for a time machine!!........ And then Anthem 🤩 Despite having commercial success, it's right up there with the classics and is equally at home with anything more underground. It's also been in my personal top ten from the first time I ever heard it, right up to date and I can't imagine it ever losing its magic. Anyway, I should shut up! Love hearing your narrative with these mixes though and it's really interesting to listen to your reasoning behind the various tracks, along with thoughts, insights and, always the memories. Thank you 😊

The N'Joi This tune would normally be a bit too cheesy for me and just full of samples, but it's really well done and has a great energy about it. The bassline is from Project One - Smokin' Chalice.

Never made it to Sterns we were solid Campden Palace (Orange) aswell as the other Orange dos at Rocket, Astoria, Hipperdrome. I'd actually paused buying vinyl by this time :( so not got any of these. Will have to pick some of them up.

Jake, I've never really been able to say if I prefer "92" or "93" just to many good tunes for both years, but while on the subject of 93, remember Ellis Dee, DJ Krome & Mr Time - Free The Feeling, Tune!

The year of the divorce of hardcore as we knew it. Dark as fuck jungle one way. And then that happy hardcore 180 bpm trash. Rest is history I guess with DnB evolving. Hardcore suited the times and served its purpose with a great legacy.

I left school in 1993 and my dream in life then was to get laid and got to a rave. I finally achieved both of these one special night in 1994 at BYO Doncaster!

That wonderful, all too brief, era when Hardcore mutated into Jungle Techno.

There's one EP I've wanted for years, loved it back in 93 and for some reason didnt buy the record then... But now, it's too expensive for my blood. Swift and Zinc / Ionosphere, Affiliation EP. Really want Joined By God, and Blue Is Beautiful, with the classic Magic Roundabout Dougle And The Blue Cat samples. That is one i regret not owning, and it's unlikely i ever will. Great great tunes though

Nice mixing as always! I know what you mean about Orca. Their original 3AM track’s beats are off count imo. Either way, respect to all these old school artists. And that Untouchables record is an absolute slammer. Pricey too. All 4 tracks are dope on it, but the Roachman remix on the flipside takes the cake for me.

93 was when it all started to change, the scene got a little serious, my group fragmented into garage house posers, moody DNB junglists , and techno nutters. I went the junglist route… by 96 i fell out of love with dance music.
