Personally, I always found that the hardest decisions for me in any give playthrough is trying to decide what nickname to give to all of my team members

I know that feeling I pulled some obscure shot to theme them My ceruledge is called spada because i looked up names of demonic swords and my corviknighf is named after a female knight (obviously I wouldn’t have if it was male) The worst part of when you forget to check the gender of your team member before choicing a nickname and don’t realise until you’ve finished it

Some Pokémon are very easy for me to give nicknames to. For example, I named my Gholdengo Glorious in reference to Cofagrigus’ Glorious Gold shop in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon, and my Appletun is named Apple Pen. 😂😂 But yeah, some Pokémon can be tricky to find names for.

Strong agree on going in blind! The experience of seeing a brand new pokemon and being like, "Whoa what is this?! What type is it??" is so fun, especially when it suddenly evolves and you have no idea what to expect. It also makes the games harder since you don't know what you'll be facing. Highly recommend everyone give it a try at least once.

I never had a fair comparison between playing blind and non-blind. I do feel like playing blind the first time would make the second play through a lot more fun. The first time is seeing new cool pokemon and figuring things out along the way. The second is planning everything out and having a goal while playing through.

About the evil team question, the answer is obviously skull. Do you know how relaxed Guzma is? The other evil teams are organized crime organizations. Team Skull is much more like a family. Guzma is chill as hell, and he’d probably let you use whatever Pokémon you like, while not asking too much from you. edit: typed this before 5:48 lol

Currently preparing myself to shiny hunt the Pokémon from the Sail Fossil. The shiny form looks so pretty, and upon obtain the shiny on my newest Playthrough of Y, I will be letting everyone know about it. I’ll be putting it into Pokémon Bank (since the Playthrough I’m already doing is a Starter only Playthrough) so, when I finish the game, and play X, I will be using the shiny in all of its glory, upon being able to get the other fossil, and reviving said fossil. I’ll be nicknaming it “Pretty Aura”, and I’ll be calculating its IV’s like I’m doing with my Starter Playthrough. Currently from that Playthrough, the only known IV’s in all 6 stats, for a single Pokémon is the starter that started the entire Playthrough, my Female Fenniken I named Fire Fox, and when she turned level 20, (after evolving into Braxien at level 16), her IV’s are, in order from HP 27, ATK 9, DEF 14, Sp. ATK 19, Sp. DEF 22 and Speed 12 and she has 510 EV’s in total, with her highest 3 EV’s is 108 in HP and Sp. ATK and 104 in Speed. I can’t wait to be doing this in all of its glory when I finally get a shiny Aurorus. Hopefully, it’s a female (I may or may not got off topic, if I did, I am sorry) Edit: After researching, I have came up with a decision to get a an Aurorus that knows Discharge, which means I’m gonna be needing to do some breeding. This means, instead of doing it by grabbing a fossil, I’ll be needing to catch a Mareep, which means I’ll be needing to level it up a ton, until Level 32, have it evolve, so it’s not that awkward, and then, shiny hunt. I’ll probably make my life easier by having X be a save file so I can do the Masuda Method. It’ll still take an excruciating amount of time, but it’ll be 100% worth it when I get myself the lovely Shiny with Discharge

In the first six gens I picked Water or Grass starters, specifically Squirtle, Turtwig, Totodile, Snivy, Froakie and Treecko. When Sun and Moon were announced I realized I had never picked the Fire starter before, so I chose Litten and decided I should pick the Fire starter for the next two Gens to make things even. Scorbunny was a very easy pick for Sword and Shield, and I picked Fuecoco for Scarlet and Violet after some consideration. I’m looking forward to the next generation, then I’ll be free to pick whichever one.

Honestly, in this whole list, the hardest decision for me is easily which version to get. Because it ALWAYS happens where I'll love one box art legendary over the other, but the other version has the exclusives I want. Luckily, that problem is not NEARLY as big a deal as it used to be thanks to the ease of online interactions. Starters sometimes give me a big problem, but usually it's because there's a stage in its evolution line that I don't like that much or something.

Honestly if I was stuck to just one starter type. Easy pick water as mudkip is there. Same with being able to fill out my team with grass so easily. I mean every grass starter can be replaced early game by something almost as good Fire types it's a bit more tricky especially pearl and diamond but you can find a suitable replacement by planning it out but the later games give easier options like talonflame and such so that becomes easier with time. Water types yeah every game has great water types but I can make due with ice and water moves on my starter I just like the water types overall the most

Easy access to surf makes it even better. Practically speaking the water type gets a big advantage, there are a few regions where the fire type is just much better though. When I played gen 1 my starter actually did wind up being an hm slave. Blastoise can learn surf and strength and nobody told me that most hms suck. My naivete made me think that just because the moves were mandatory for progression they were probably good, and I never saw the stats of the moves either so onto my starter they went. I also had gyarados who outshined Blastoise so Blastoise kinda wound up only coming out for emergencies. My first pokemon playthrough was a mess.
@onijester56
@onijester56 11 месяцев назад
Incidentally, Surf and Strength are two of the best HM moves to use for combat in Gen 1. An 80-power 100%-accuracy Normal-type move hits almost everything pretty hard. And Surf adds an invincibility-turn, as well as having 95 base-power on top of STAB and using Special. Those said, almost everyone's first playthrough of their first Pokemon game was a mess. That is part of the fun! lol

Awesome video idea! I’ll answer some of these questions on how I personally play. :) - Starter. I chose my favorite, but if I do a Nuzlocke, I chose the best one suited for the region. - I tried to avoid leaks best I could for Violet. I had zero idea on what the starters evolved into. - How I chose a game usually goes with the box legendary. - I’m on Blue game side. Johto & Alola games are my only red side choices out of those. - I’ll give my starter strong HM moves such as Surf or Fly..but use another Pokemon for moves like cut…like Bibarel haha! - Shiny Pokemon - the Gen 9 sandwich method is incredibly good. I got all Violet shiny paradox within a few searches each.

In terms of both Water and Grass type Pokémon, since both are super effective against Rock and Ground types, I end up picking either one or the other, which can be rough because both are starter types. And there are some Pokémon I want to use that are Water and Grass type Pokémon (mainly Water types because of how many there are), yet I end up having to either delay them, or ditch a starter.

In Gens 7, 8, and 9, there are always two starter Pokémon that end up becoming either Ghost or Dark type upon evolving which is annoying if there’s a Ghost or Dark type Pokémon I already want to use, and also because both types are super effective against the same things. So, I either have to have a Ghost and Dark type Pokémon on the same team, delay the Pokémon I want to use, or ditch a starter.

I used my Master Ball on Groudon in my Omega Ruby playthrough. I didn't want to, but it just refused to co-operate with me. It rested when I got its health low enough, always woke up once I got its health back down again, resisted EVERY single attempt at an Ultra Ball and then sometimes just randomly fainted. In the end, I got so frustrated I just threw my Master Ball at it. And then I nicknamed it "Mr Cuddles" just to spite it. XD

5:48 good question, I have a few answers: -poison and bug types are adorable, they’re some of my favorite types just behind rock and grass. -team skull has the best drip imo. -nice to not have some big over the top ideology, just general tomfoolery and deliberate mishap-causing. -catchy as hell battle music. -Salandit is precious.

The starter is my one exception for going in. I want to know what I'm getting myself into. Chances are this Pokemon is going to be on my team the whole game. I try not to overdo it on spoilers for other new Pokemon, though. It's more fun to see those Pokemon in the wild for the first time and be like "yeah, I might use that in my team". 2:44 I tend not to use the Master Ball. I'm not really "saving it" so much as I don't see how I'd ever use it. I always use regular Poke Balls for standard Pokemon and any in my team will have the same matching ball, usually just Poke Balls but sometimes something special (like how I used all Friend Balls for my DLC save with Ogerpon, Hisuian Lilligant, Poltchageist, etc.). When catching shinies, I pay attention to their coloration to determine what ball fits them and so far, the only shiny I've seen I want to use the Master Ball on is Darkrai and I can only catch him in my second stored save of Shining Pearl thanks to the mystery gift's limited-time availability. So in every other game the ball is just useless to me. I hold onto it merely to trade or just in case I do find a use. 4:58 I never have this issue. If I want a Mawile, I'll trade for it and breed one for my own team. You generally only get one box legendary, excluding USUM and technically SV though you can't trade the first one you get, so it makes no sense to me to grab a version where you can't get the box legendary you like. Especially if, like me, you care about it being your own OT. Of course these days I typically grab both copies if my sibling hasn't grabbed one themselves. 6:30 Red. I originally got Sapphire as a kid and I do like Kyogre, but I think I like Groudon more. I also like Yveltal, Solgaleo, Koraidon, Palkia, Ho-oh and Reshiram more (not really a "red" version, and the sequel to White 2 has a red cover). It's not really a hard pick for me, tbh. If I could never play a blue version again, I could still be pretty happy. I also really want to state just how much I love Solgaleo and Koraidon. Those two *alone* make it all worth it. Groudon as well. I mean come on, there are just so many great "red" version legendaries. Even if I could never trade, there are still great options in there for random Pokemon. No more Sableye, but Zangoose? Pretty cool. 7:14 My shiny Gen 6 Greninja is in a Timer Ball. I felt it fits wayyyy better than a Luxury Ball. It's actually insane how good it looks.

For the masterball question, me and a friend of mine were discussing it last week and the conclusion we arrived was one Pokémon for every game: (btw not including event Pokémon) RBY + FRLG - Mewtwo GS + HGSS - Raikou/Entei RSE - Latios/Latias DPP - Mesprit/Cresselia BW - Thundurus/Tornadus B2W2 - Regigigas XY - Mewtwo SM - No conclusion USUM - Any shiny ultrawormwhole legendary SS - Calyrex (or the box art legend if you don’t have the DLC) SV - The second box art legend Basically the conclusion we arrived was: save the masterball for roaming legends, high chance to be shiny legends or just the one with the lowest catch rate

i used my master ball on virizion in white 2, it took me whole packs of ultra balls while it was low health and paralyzed, yet it would not stay in the ball, eventually i ran out of pokeballs and was forced to use the master ball on it, in return however it carried me throughout the rest of my journey, one-shotting nearly everything, and it became the first pokemon i ever trained to level 100 without rare candies, gave her close combat, sacred sword, energy ball, and giga drain. i still have the copy of pokemon white 2 and virizion is just chilling in there along with zoroark, kyurem-white, emboar and a shiny swanna, hopefully having fun~ wait i forgot to feed them-

The stuff I absolutely relate with are debating between starters, I always try to go into a new Pokémon game blind, I use my Master Ball on a roaming legendary, I would eat a Miltank without hesitation, type overlap is painful, and properly ordering my favorite Pokémon is excruciating. Picking favorite types is also really hard.

I have a specific reason for always concidering the grass starters. Sure, there might be a ton of options in terms of other grass types available, but they do tend to be on the weaker side. If you are running a fire-water-grass core, and you don't want a specific type combo, then I'll bet the starter is very likely to be the strongest grass type you can find. Even Meganium. In gen 2 I'd say ESPECIALLY Meganium. Movepool sucks but it's very tanky.
@JStamato
@JStamato 11 месяцев назад
Meganium sucks and all grass types in Johto suck, dont use a grass type in gen 2 or the gen 4 remakes you get no benefit from using a grass type, just use a water type it does a grass types job better.
@DegeneratronMedia
@DegeneratronMedia 11 месяцев назад
@@JStamato well yes. I said if you are running a fire-water-grass core. I usually run Cyndaquil-Red Gyarados myself. Water resists more and kinda hits almost the same types. This has been a thing all along.
@JStamato
@JStamato 11 месяцев назад
@@DegeneratronMedia we bother with a fire water grass core when grass sucks. Use an electric type to hit water and a water type to hit rock and ground. The only time a grass type is better is for defeating water and ground types, so you are gonna suffer through using meganium just to defeat a couple of Quagsires
@DegeneratronMedia

my hardest decision is to make my teams different. In each game i need to have my most favorite pokemon as leader, then having starter in fully evolved stage, electric type to deal with water/flying enemies, one flyer to travel across region, one bug type that knows False swipe and ground type to defence. I played Heartgold and romhacked firered and my team: HG: Trapinch, Feraligatr, Pidgeot, Ampharos, Scyther and Steelix FR: Trapinch, Venusaur, Pidgeot, Pikachu, Scyther and Golem

If I had to pick one Pokémon for real life? I'm probably going with Arcanine. I love dogs and have a service dog in real life, so that be a cool huge fluffy service dog to have. Its large enough to ride and runs fast which is great cause I can't drive due to disabilities. Its very loyal and powerful so I feel safe with it and Im always cold so a large fluffy fire type is great to have around.
