Seeing someone as incredibly talented as Travis back out of a trick because of fear is extremely humbling and relatable to people who've started very recently training such as myself. I respect the fact that you leave those bits in and don't make each other seem like robots who were bred to do Parkour from the womb, it's very inspiring and gives off a feeling of hope for a lot of us. You lot are wonderful people
Exactly. Parkour is not just being physically capable of doing these movements. It is a mental battle that is really hard to beat. I have experienced it myself many times even on simpler tricks.
How is it humbling? Its quite childish and dumb to think that anybody is a parkour robot or not human, it obviouly takes practice and balls regardless of wether they include footage of backing out of tricks
@@smashyrashy he’s saying that with all the polished content out there that is meant to make it clean often brings people to forget all the in between bits, the effort practice and years it takes to become such a high level athlete. It’s more raw this way.
@@smashyrashy it also shows how hard it really is, even after all these years, after all these jumps, and despite all the experience, there are jumps they can' t just make. this is good for all those who only know the polished ones. without seeing the struggle that is necessary for some jumps, there is the danger that inexperienced people think it is all so easy and hurt themselves trying to do it.
Travis wasn't happy with the risk assessment so he called it, even though the pressure was on him to go through with the challenge. Nothing wrong there - just common sense.
110% right to listen to his senses on that. He will be really well tuned to when things might be about to go wrong. The human subconcious is incredibly good at detecting subtle aspects and analysing them in the same way as an artificial intelligence does.
That guy who always wants a shit is fucking rank. We all do it, but them people who always announce it are fuckin rank. I can't take in any of his talent. All I see when he's on screen, is shit 💩 Storror please tell him fuck off 🙊
18:35 "scare yourself and be happy about it." Literally so true. That pure feeling of happiness and the adrenaline rush that goes through your body after you've got over the challenge is just euphoric.
Great to see how encouraging everyone is of each other. No cries of "don't be a p*ssy" or anything like that, just a encouragement and support whether it goes well or it doesn't 👏👏👏
Different kind of guts to say 'no' when everyone is there watching too. Really great to see that everyone was so supportive of the decision to not do it on that day when it just didn't feel right.
I love how supportive the parkour community is, regardless if you make the jump or don't. You almost get more respect for not doing the jumps, than the epic ones you do. Fair play.
Favorite bits: Drew's flippy line, Travis' elation when he nailed his line, Lisa lying down to savor the euphoria, Drew's calming assurances while Trav struggles, the support for deciding to wait. BIG LOVE to you all!
Parkour is so similar to skateboarding - constant falling - street sport - doing runs with tricks and obstacles - creativity is key - jumping on and off things - ruined shoes - something always hurts - oversized clothing - super supportive community - people sometimes respond negatively to you doing it in public
It's particularly impressive to see a woman do it--not because it's a skill women can't do, but because one of the most necessary things women have done throughout human history is both push men to take new risks _and step in to tell them when to stop_ (and, typically, to stop her children from engaging in deadly risks). Biologically, women are far more risk averse than men, so it's really cool to see Lisa be able to push through that extra layer of fear, all those centuries of evolutionary pressure, and stick the landing! (It's also awesome to see the encouragement from the guys!)
What you've become of late Storror and the way you've brought all these talented people together, is just incredible. You've transcended not just your own brand but have opened this sport up to the world. Look at all of you now, all of your brands together are pushing this sport in the right direction and making it real for the viewers as we can all have a go. You really connect with your viewers - a rare commodity for RU-vid stars. Thanks Storror 👍
Watching these guys prep for so long and then back out at the end is sometimes more satisfying than watching them send it. Just shows the level of mental acuity they have and how professional they are. On most other parkour channels all you see is the final product. The part of him trying to overcome his mental battle for the kong gainer wouldnt of even made the video. Its scenes like this that show the amount of work that goes into developing their skills. Major props. And just as Benj(?) said, there's always another day. No doubt in my mind he'll nail it when he's ready.
I love how Storror shows the "failures" as some might classify them, when in reality this was a huge win. Staying safe and staying within your own abilities is always a win.
Holy shit I felt that in my everything. "Sometimes it's better to walk away." "Fear is a self-preservation device." and so on, all apply here good on you guys for supporting that. The most important one though? "Know yourself." My respect goes sky-high for freerunners that can innately understand that 'tap on the shoulder' telling you to not jump right then and there. It will save your life. I ignored that feeling once and ate concrete for my arrogance. I'm lucky I came out of it with minor concussion and some scrapes.
i love how humble all of these guys are. theres no toxic competition to try and do something outside of your range. they all just respect eachother for chucking some steezy lines.
Mad props for knowing when to call it on a challenge. Always better safe than injured, sometimes you're just not feeling it. Another banger video, loved all the other people popping in for a line or two, that muscley black guy was gnarly!
I've always admired the discipline and awareness it takes to not go for the jump, just being able to recognise that todays not the day is a skill in it's own right....well done Verky....tomorrow's another day.....
Thanks for also always showing the fails and also moments where some just can´t get over the mental barrier. Sometimes its just like that and that should be okay, nice to see this side from pros in their craft also! big up
This video shows exactly what goes behind a 5 sec Instagram clip we see. People don't understand how much work, the physical prep and then the mental battle goes on before one finally commits to it if they feel good about it. Big up Trav for getting so many insane lines in such a short interval. The potential in this man is just unreal!! Thanks a lot Storror for bringing such amazing content! ❤
I think there’s a point where we can all overcome fear but that point is just before the point when your gut is telling you that you shouldn’t do it. Not that you can’t but that you shouldn’t. And trusting your gut is far more important than landing a sick parkour trick.
I watch your videos all the time and something in me wishes I could still do this, I used to live and breath it, wasn't amazing but I loved it, but ever since a bad shoulder injury I've never tried since and it's gone on to long for me to try again, hats off anyway to you all pushing the boundaries
this looks like a lot of fun, always wanted to do things like these, but hell just watchin yall do it gives me an anxiety haha maybe eventually ill try to get back into doing parkour myself again
Nice, really liked the little explanation slow-mos throughout the whole video, elegant and efficient to get the point across, wp as always to the editing team !
Same , I started to learn the safety rolls , building my skills and dude I’m excited to actually be good like them . Hah I always imagine myself in assassins creed
Everyone's calm when someone backs out. Because backing out always (uncomfortably) confirms: Yes, the danger is real. Parkour really is a wild sport, in a way.
The thing is when he does the Kong Gainer in the future & looks back at this video he will be SO proud. I really admire & respect the decision, big up to you travis!
Being a teacher and seeing the kids being hyped about this in the schoolyard I 'love' to see how you show that sometimes you actually have to back down and it's not just flashy jumps without struggles.
I have so much respect. Not for the thing you do. That's some amazing stuff for sure. But for the stuff you don't do when you don't feel it's the right time.
oh god why are you lot back on the scooters? I love seeing these larger jams with everyone cheering on anything, it's so great to see. I also love how you can see especially Drew making these much larger leaps in training than what has been shown in previous videos! It's great to see all of you still working just as hard as all the other people at that jam.
I am not a sports person by nature. My younger brother is a hardcore basketball and American football fan. I'm also American, but I don't really care about competitive sports. Yet, my two favorite parkour athletes are truly wired as pure athletes. Max Cave. Travis Verky. Massive respect to you both! Both of you might impossibly kill in the NBA, somehow! Love to Drew as well!
Guys, you guys are just an amazing group! I liken them to a "justice league", a group of mutants! It's great to see them doing what they do! I admire you guys a lot more than football players or F1 racers. You don't compete with each other, you just help each other. You don't have an everest-sized inflated ego, you're happy when your partner makes the jump! And honestly, this addition of Verky, Dom and Joe are awesome! Verky is giving his all, he's pushing the limits that used to be, and I confess it was beautiful to see him give up that maneuver, it gave me a feeling that "you're in control, and you're not going to do anything crazy", despite everything which makes it seem crazy to us, mere mortals who love Parkour! Thank you for existing, for giving so much! And sorry for everyone who can't understand what you really are, everything you mean to this world! You are everything that represents freedom on this planet taken by cloisters! From Brazil, with all love!
