This film documents James Machaffie climbing Britain's hardest slate slab sport climb. Bolted by the legend Johnny Dawes in the late 80's the route reminded unclimbed until now.
I guess im randomly asking but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot the login password. I love any help you can offer me.
@Harlan Christian thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im in the hacking process now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
I climbed with Ray McHaffie, James Dad many many times in the late 60's,70's. Mac and Margaret,(his Mum) did 'Eagle Front' with them on the day off the tragic Cockermouth Mountain Rescue accident In Birkness Combe. His Surname is McHaffie.
Johnny's wearing old LaSportiva Mythoses isn't he? Customers at the shop where I work, nowadays steer clear of it because 'it's not aggressive and I'm climbing past UIAA grade VI or VII now so I need a better shoe...'
I don't believe it was mythos as the clip was from 86. Mythos weren't in production until the 90's. Perhaps Kamet, Scarpa LeMenestrals or a British brand I've never heard of. The rubber was likely awful as well.
From memory, He was wearing the Boreal Sprint ( carbon fibre stiffening insole) model... He used them also on 'The Very Big Very Small, just before.. Ideal for slate. (Similar to the Scarpa Dominator) a few years later..
