That was a massive flex at the end. The Night King chased them to their ships and then just stared them down while he showed them his power... everybody who dies just adds to his army.
It was a message & a challenge. The NK would may not have known about Valyrian steel, so to him the fact of JS slaying one of his lieutenants would seem to be a feet of magical power. By raising the dead he was saying ‘here is my power’ & also ‘you took one of mine, I took thousands of yours.’ It was epic.
I think there are some that are visually a little better but none of them made me as anxious as Hardhome. It's a battle scene with a horror/zombie movie vibe.
The making of Hardhome is why this show is so epic.. 55 days to film the episode , they brought in 100 year old timber for the walls ❤ hang on, it’s all about to get into high gear! 😊

Season 5 was the first year that GOT won the Emmy for best drama. It went on to win through season 8.i believe this episode is the reason it finally won after the first 4 seasons.

Back in the day i didn't like that this universe had zombies. I thought it was too unrealistic for how realistic the story is. This episode was what convinced me to love that.
@@ItApproaches oh not at all. I didn't like the dragons of the show. (Specially because they were all only on one side) Fortunately they weren't playing that big of a part in most of the Westeros storyline, and when they started to do so i loved the show too much to care.

The one time the show writers equalled the books. Hardhome is only mentioned that a catastrophe happened there but never described. This I've gotta give showrunners props for 🙌 Valeryan Steel is made with dragon glass, dragon flames & magic 😉

The guy you asked "who is he?", he is the Night King and he was showing John what they are facing. He's basically telling John, "If you kill one of ours, our one is dead for a minute and then we make him stand back up. If we kill one of yours, your one becomes one of ours." Basically John's army can only get smaller, but the dead's army will only grow. As for John killing that Night Walker, John's sword is Valerian Steel. They can be killed by Fire, by Dragon Glass and by Valerian steel. The first time he attacked, John was using a normal sword, that's why it shattered.
