the boys have been sleeping on very large parts of the hardcore scene for the last couple decades. lmao john caution had a lot to say about the division between the chaotic side of hardcore and brocore in the 00's- early 10's
Just saw Spacecowboy on Monday . Went in not necessarily a hater or fan just kinda indifferent but I must say they definitely killed it and I now consider myself a fan.
I’m dying for a video series where you and Bo change each others minds on bands. Like Colin diving deep into Coheed & Cambria and explaining why they’re so badass. THEY GOT PIT PARTS! Coheed is my favorite band and when I first heard Colin say he loves them I lost my shit
Hell yeah with the P!ATD A Fever You Can’t Sweat out mention. Thats my favorite album of all time! Meant to ask Connie how it was recording with Matt Squire, who produced that Panic! album.
Will someone let Connie know, as a long time vegan living in San Diego, that I have good news? Gorilla Eats Sushi has the best all vegan sushi imaginable. Litickers in OB has vegan California burritos. And fresh brothers has vegan Pepperoni and cheese for their pizzas.
So happy to hear Connie bring up the pendulum. I've said that for years. When a group of people are forced to YANK back against mistreatment the other side is going to react by pulling back just as hard. It's why you see more public transphobia these days. Back then people were fine as long as they were living in the shadows but now that these individuals want to live out loud and proudly you get these nerds with too much to say about shit that's none of their business.
Connie describing that first time you get absolutely slammed in the pit was exactly how I felt when I saw Stick To Your Guns open for blessthefall. That shit changed my music taste, being a little metalcore kid getting ROCKED during the first song was sick af
Busted my hand on someone’s skull at the SYSC Portland show the other night:) Connie please tell AJ his drum parts are incredible and fuckin hard to learn lol. Been playing along to y’all on my kit since Songs for the Firing Squad, funnest songs to drum to.
I knew exactly what MDK she was talking about. Halftime (pre Mizery), World of Pain, MDK, Brawl, Merauder. I had to miss it and have been crying ever since. That was back in 2012 or something. I also saw TT at che and backtrack with like 40 people in 2012 and TT killlled it. Set was insane.
I keep missing this band when they come to my city, but it shall not happen next time. Awesome episode, I didn’t know much about anyone in this band before but Connie seems awesome! And as a screamo dabbler, all the twinkly guitar shoutouts plus the Moss Icon shoutout are pretty lit
Saw SYSC at Genghis Cohen's in LA last Sunday with my homie Lemus's band Stateside and Foreign Hands opening. Jesus Barti Bhrist bro, prolly the best time I've ever seen them (I've seen them 3 times always opening on some insane bill). Connie was spin kicking, like 4 crowd killers going constantly, tiny packed out room just sweat drenched and GNARLY but good natured pit, people screaming lyrics into the mic when Connie held and crowd surfed it. Foreign Hands I didn't even know about before their set and that was one of the sickest sets I've ever seen. THEN SYSC played Programme like two hours later, fucking lunatics. All that ramble to say, as someone who only got the tail end of the 2000's metalcore explosion when it was already oversaturated and everybody was busy calling everybody else gay (and all the allegations, sheesh) this new rush of bands and the kids are fokken BRÖÖTLE, crazy hooks, great shows, great crowds. Definitely deserve support and more attention.
