No one among the common public knows what really happened. That's all I can say. If one watches all the Tehelka footage, from a time when doctoring videos to that extent was not easy at all, there are serious questions raised on quite a few big icons of Indian cricket.
Tehelka sting is tell all story behind all the underhand dealings that goes on in Indian cricket's dressing room. Most of the top players including captains at that time were involved until honest players like Sachin, Ganguly, and Dravid came along. Right from Sunil Gavaskar, and Kapil Dev to Azaruddin everyone was involved in match-fixing on many occasions. Kapil dev and Azaraddin were the biggest beneficiaries and they pioneered this culture to the greatest extent in the Indian cricket team.

Hansie Cronje honestly admitted to wrongdoing. When the Delhi Police first mentioned his involvement in match fixing, like all human beings, he denied it. And given his record and standing, everyone came to his defence too. I remember Dr Ali Bacher staunchly supporting Cronje. It was his own religious convictions that prompted Cronje to later own up, else no one would have known. If people like Kapil, Azhar, etc won't own up, what wrong with conducting a sting operation to expose them?

Tehelka tapes did not prove anything on Kapil.. All was that Prabhakar was saying kapil came to me and offered and I mentioned... Why did Prabhakar tell at that point of time? Second, was there any evidence produced by Prabhakar that Kapil infact offered or involved in the fixing... Bookies were questioned and nobody mentioned Kapil was involved...

What hurts the most about the match fixers is that they played with our trust and our emotions. After matches that ended in nail biting finishes, I have many times read about people who suffered heart attacks. In my younger days, I have myself wept when India lost close matches. And now I realize that our heroes were playing a different kind of game altogether! Anyways, the game no longer interests me. All thanks to people like Kapil Dev and his likes.

Truth is in between. Its clear manoj was involved before that meet. I think he may have been upset he wasnt offered enough to throw the match, rather than being offered. Maybe he wanted 25 lakhs but kapil refused. I think a lot of it is due to jealousy. To be very honest, I too still hope and wish that Kapil Dev didn't do all the stuff that Manoj Prabhakar accused him of. But the suggestions by the people in the tehelka tapes are too strong to just ignore. That is why I have chosen to think of him as tainted. You would be aware of the legal dictum, "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence". But of course, you are free to believe that Kapil Dev is right, and everybody else in the world is wrong.

To those who are abusing me for all that I wrote about Kapil Dev, I hope that you will get some courage to face facts. Kapil Dev has been idolized and glorified a lot in all these years. But I have not gained any respect for Kapil Dev which I lost for him after watching Tehelka tapes. I too once idolized him, I too was very angry with Manoj Prabhakar when he first accused Kapil Dev, but after watching Tehelka tapes, I gathered the courage to see the truth about Kapil Dev. Those who are abusing me, carry on with it!
