In this Plugin vs Hardware video we are going to do things a little different.
We're not going to compare compressors or EQ's, but hardware instruments vs their plugin counterparts.
In this video we will compare the vintage Fender Rhodes Mk1 versus the Arturia Stage-73 as well as the Logic Pro X Stock e piano plugin.

Thanks for having me Thomas! I was pleasantly surprised by the stock logic Rhodes, but nothing beats playing the real thing for me :) curious to see more of these comparisons!! Cheers

You should've add the UAD version wich is very impressive, from someone who own a real Rhodes for decades...

Great idea this - nice one! Big difference between the real one and the emulations but the UAD one is pretty good I think..... Would be very interesting to do a real drum vs XLN comparison!

The uadx version gave me chills hearing it the first time and beats the rest !

Very good comparison, I love videos like these! None of them really come close to the hardware here. Both of the emulations sound flat in comparison to the real one. The LPX one sounds surprisingly good tho. The Arturia model doesn’t sound bad, but like through a telephone filter. Distorted and super mid dominant without any sparkle. Not sure if there’s a setting to improve that. Over all very good video!

that's an interesting idea but that hasn't been made with the best emulation in my opinion . The hardware is definitely killing both of the plugs, easy. Wouldn't it be better to battle the real one with Uad's Electra ? Or Rhodes's V8 ?

I wanted to, but the Electra isnt a rhodes mark1 unfortunately. I din’t own the Rhodes V8, but might try in the future. These feel to me as the most common emulations out there

They were very far apart.. almost mk1 mk2 difference. Try keyscape or omispehere and ik multimedia or even Mr ray (free) plugin as well, maybe they will be closer.

Arturia sounds like crap. I would have to grab an eq to fix muddy mess, with the real one there is no need and for logic it sounds ok, acceptable. I couldn't tell the difference hearing it in the whole mix between real and logic one. I usually use keyscape and logic sometime when i am lazy.
