The S472 with the stock turbo looks to be the best setup especially if money is in question the 6.7’s sweet spot for towing efficiency is 1600-2000 rpms and that redline looks awesome I get it that with extra fuel the S475/cheetah will give you a lot quicker more fun truck unloaded but the power under the curve with the stock fuel and slightly smaller S472/stock turbo looks to be the best bet.
I know the purpose of a compound to have two stages of boost with quicker spool-up but if the factory turbo is being used as the smaller one and I simply add a larger one for the second stage, wouldn't I just increase power on the top end of the power curve and still have the same stock bottom end spool-up? I really would like more power on the bottom end with quicker spool-up.
Unless you go with a smaller wheel, you’ll never spool faster than your stock turbo. Then a smaller turbine and you get less power down low..... what you said cannot be achieved with only a turbo. Smaller bottom, 480 ontop, injectors, pump... all that but what would help more and people for some reason in the diesel world don’t get it... put a cam and head on these engines.... if you really want more on the bottom, re gear your truck. The spool up of these is literally a half a second anyways? People acting like a stock + compound kit lags like a second gen swap cracks me up.
What are your back pressure #'s ??? Did they go up or down? Take it your setup has ARP Head studs? 425 or 625? What are your boost and air temp number before and after? What is the CFM required for air filter flow? Thanks, Chris
Would the stock manual trans be able to cope with the extra power and if so is there a tuner for this kit or would I have to get it professionally tuned?
Call a shop. Sorry but you’ve got a lot of learning to do. You don’t tune a manually trans. There’s mods you can do to a manual trans much more affordable than an automatic, talk to someone who does this for a living.
Hello, I have a 2015 03/15 MegaCab 3/4t 4x4 auto trans. I used to get 19-20mpg, after 2.5in lift and 295/60/20 with 20x10, I only get 15-17.5 mpg. I want to free up more power and increase mpg. I hear this can be done with a Delete and tune. Can you confirm? Any recommendations?
My stock transmission has 169k. But I'm smart enough to know you don't hammer it down from a dead stop or try to race the Hondas when I'm towing 12k pounds.
yep, all how you drive it. ive got 200k kms on my 68rfe, my truck is a 2015. used it for work pulling 40ft gooseneck upto 30k lbs. zero issues. im also deleted and run the truck on the 125hp tune all the time.
+Jim Cash. you would need the Bully dog gt tuner, the bully dog ecu unlock cable, full exhaust, egr block off plates (xdp sells a nice set up) If you want a clean look buy an H&S intake manifold instead of using the block off plate and also deletes your egr throttle plate. The whole delete was around $2,600, and really not much of a headache to do. Ive been talking to hardway about doing my tunes since I'm not extremely happy with my tuner I have at the moment. These guys seem legit. But do your research and make sure you don't mind loosing your factory warranty first! I also believe that there is no tuning options available at the moment for the aisin transmission. if you have a standard trans or the 68rfe youll be good.
This compound kit would spool so much fast if it had an s467 still be able to make 800-850 whp and instant power it would take no time at all for the cheetah to light an s467.
