Thank you for the reminder to start the indoor sowing now and to purchase the direct sown seeds if none in my stash.

I'm in St. Louis and they keep moving first frost back! It was Halloween and now it's early November. Oh well! I agree, it's just a range! This is super encouraging! I have some that are on your success list, which makes me thrilled and some that I'm just going to try!

Thank you for doing this video; I’m attempting this very thing for the first time. My hubby just completed my light setup and after some cleanup in the basement, I’ll try soil blocking for the first time, too!

@@backyardbeauty9283 just finalizing my plans tonight! Batchelor Buttons, several varieties of Rudbeckia, Bupleurum, Canterbury Bells, Feverfew, Snaps, Sweet William and Yarrow.

Update: it must take practice to make great soil blocks...I'm blaming part of my non success on poor soil block mixture. As a newbie I also didn't know to place wide weave burlap over the blocks to help retain moisture...only variety that worked and is out in the garden is the batchelor buttons and the bupleurum that I'm hardening off now. Thanks for your encouraging grace filled videos!

Do you hace any tips for growing Ammi Maju? Im in australia so its spring, and while i thought it was supposed to grow like a weed, i cant get it to sprout 😅 ive tried in a pot and in a damp paper towel in a hot house. In the sun, in the shade, and tried stratifying some in the fridge and not others, but ive had no luck...

Thank you so much for this video. So helpful and timely. This is my first year with spring planted Hardy Annuals. I will be trying fall planting now too. Question- how long did your Orlaya bloom? I’ve been dead heading mine (6a) but want to make sure I have some go to seed. Thank you!

What zone are you in? My orlaya bloomed about a month this year. I left the short stems to go to seed 🌱 Happy planting!!

Very good video, thank you so much for your generous sharing. You said you sow rudbeckia sahara in autumn. Did you keep seedlings outside or in cool greenhouse? Cheers.
@backyardbeauty9283

They were kept outside, in the ground, with no protection. Happy growing!!

@@backyardbeauty9283 wow, that is amazing. My only concern is that, since I am in UK, come spring, the slugs will decimate them while they are small. Did you save your own sahara seeds? Since they produce a variety of flowers, I don't know do I collect seeds from one flower, which carries all their dna, or do I have to collect from each different flower? Your advice is so much appreciated. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Do you fall sow your Rudbeckia? How do you overwinter? Thank you!
@backyardbeauty9283
@backyardbeauty9283 2 года назад
Hi there! Rudbeckia overwinters very well since it’s a perennial in zone 6 🎉 they aren’t the easiest to germinate but once they get growing they are very hardy. 🌱
