Wish more writers (and artists who write for others) would play the original song as it was written more often.. Hardy’s a master of the craft of songwriting. Brilliant human
And there is 2 sides to that coin. Sometimes the song is just better sounding when it's done in someone else's voices and styles. One of the best examples i can think of is bad company and five finger death punch. Ffdp did better than bad company did in my opinion. Kudos to hardy for singing the songs he wrote in the first place but he kept himself humble knowing that someone else can do it better than him and he encouraged it.

WOW.. Hardy has helped make Wallen Morgan greater than Garth Brooks. I got nothing but love for both of them. But this is a Hardy song that Wallen made a huge hit. Hardy has my respect. A true all around artist not just a singer this man is a classic artist.

This just sings so much better than "Eastern TN". Its a pity it was ever changed in the first place. Hardy is one of the best song writers in the business.
I like this version but I get why Morgan changed it. He’s from Tennessee so if he’s talking about home he’s got to change some lyrics. Both sound great though
Hardy should have kept this one for himself. He sounds great singing it. Would have still had big success with him on the vocals. I get the feeling he regrets giving this one to Morgan.
Anyone know the tuning and chords he's using? I've tried drop D in standard then 1/2 step down from standard to drop D 1/2 step down but the chords are messing with me the most. I keep zooming in and pausing but I can't figure it out..
The tuning is DADGAD, The intro chords are 4----5----7----9 0----0----0----0 0----0----0----0 2----4----6----7 0----0----0----0 0----0----0----0 havent tried figuring out the rest yet but i assume a lot of it repeats
Coming from Northeast MS I wish he said "a little town outside of Starkville" instead of Jackson. Regardless, the original is way better than Morgan Wallen's version
