Harlem residents held an emergency meeting Thursday night after learning a vacant luxury residential building was going to be used as an emergency shelter for migrants.

Most homeless people are exactly where they belong. And none of them should be placed in some luxury living conditions on the taxpayers. They don't deserve a thing.

They did none of this during the pandemic. Regardless, of how people voted you also have to see the blatant disrespect to Americans who have been asking for livable wages, shelter, better rent and quality of life. So if those things were taken care of with what is magically appearing now it may have not been such a big deal. But I also don't think that it's fair to the southern states to take on immigrants and they didn't vote or have any policies in place to be sanctuary for those falsely claiming asylum.

The only reason The City didn't get away with it, is because people found out about it, (before) they could do it. Otherwise, the migrants would've been living in those luxury apartments.

I am a US citizen/ Harlem resident and I work looooong hrs to put food on my table and provide finacial support for my family. And soon I will be looking for a parttime job due the increase of the rent here. This arrangment just somehow infuriates me. Maybe I should go to Mexico, and walk across the border from there, then I will be entitled to all free stuff.
I hope some of those units are offered to Harlem residents at a discount. I'm happy that homeless US families will get housed, instead of migrants. But hardworking families deserve some units too. I really hope the city offers you a unit as a "thank you" for your hard work. Hard work isn't appreciated by government anymore.

Happy to know someone noticed the bunkbeds; and the community rallied to say 'no.' Adams cannot be trusted. I'd gladly move back to Manhattan for a never-lived-in 1BDRM. I'm now working for a very large corporation that routinely sends young professional staffers from various U.S. locations to work for a year or two in NYC; and many of them would jump on the opportunity. While market rate would've been above their means, paying tenants are better than freebies and bunkbeds.
Harlem residents should absolutely have first dibs 💯 If the luxury building is unused, then let the hardworking Harlem residents live in those units at a price they can afford. Of course, give units to homeless US families. But don't forget about the local residents who can't afford much but still work hard AF. They deserve an upgrade. And good job on protesting 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼. so, you're okay with taxpayers subsidizing the difference in 'what they can afford' versus what's a fair market value. there are neighborhoods i'd love to live in. i work hard, but i can't afford those places. they're just out of my price range. will you send me some money so i can live in a place i can't afford? i'm in the mid-west, so rest assured your contribution has more bang for the buck. it's not like i live in the most expensive city in the country will no job skills that couldn't be imparted to someone in a day or two.
1.) They lyin. They’re moving migrants into that building. 2.) It’s crazy because they literally TRASHED the luxury hotels they’ve been staying in, they’ll trash that building too. 3.) NYers can’t afford their own rents and are either getting evicted or moving out of NY and are going down south where it’s ( slightly…I’ll get back to that ) more affordable to live, yet these people get thousands of dollars, free shelter at luxury hotels, schools ( which children have been forced out of so they can be more comfortable ) free healthcare, at the expense of the millions of people who just got kicked off of Medicaid and Medicare to make way for them, free food and clothing, all while needy, homeless, disabled and veterans go without. Before I finish I’d like to say this: I am NOT politically aligned. We cannot help others if our own are struggling and are in need, send them back, close the border, change the laws and put Americans FIRST. * Slightly because they are leaving in droves and now the housing down south is skyrocketing.

Homeless US citizens and LEGAL immigrants should be able to use that building. The people of Harlem .. need to have the local government define what 'homeless families' means ... because those illegal migrants are called homeless too.
According to another channel there's so many businesses leaving NYC that there's tens of millions of square feet of empty space available in office buildings and malls. Why isn't the NYC government using this empty office space to house migrants?

Remember the mayor visited latin american countries his 1st month as mayor 🤔. There are a lot of loopholes property owners fenagle their way around also. Every migrant head is going for 4K a month. Hopefully these people who voted for the politicians who did this are smart enough to understand these things "don't just happen." I don't feel bad or have empathy for those Harlem residents, Manhattan overwhelmingly voted for these progressive policies and they have the nerve to complain when their decisions come to their neighborhoods. The only way to red pill a progressive is to give them what they want.

Voting has nothing to do with it The problem is that New York City is a sanctuary city because of Ed Koch and no one in New York is willing to take that sanctuary status away No Republicans or Democrats have ever tried so it doesn't come to voting because people don't vote for these types of things They don't get a say whether a city is a sanctuary city or migrants get to come here or not
