When I met my wife she asked me to get the can opener in the junk droor in the kitchen.It was full of an assortment of shovellhead small parts.It was at that moment I decided she was a keeper.We have been married since 1974 and riding together since then.

I've got a 91 heritage my sister brought new 18000 miles, I got it about 2 years ago when she passed away. I'm finally getting it up and going this year after getting it lined out after sitting so long with untreated gas and such. Would rather still have her around instead but that's life.

"Finding" a twenty dollar bill you forgot you stuck in your back pocket is good..... "finding" new spare parts you had forgot you had for your Harley....even better. Take it from an old guy that has done this more than once.

Way cool. I remember reading a magazine 25 years ago about a guy who traded a new fatboy for a FL pan head which was the article in the mag and thought he was crazy !!! Not so crazy now !!! I had a 89 heritage I sold my brother who gave it to his son at 16 years old !! Bike is still in the family !!!

This is a good channel for happy endings, philosophy, and wisdom. I'm subscribed. My only bikes have been bicycles. Imagine riding from the San Francisco waterfront through Fisherman's Warf, etc. to the Golden Gate Bridge, then over and on to Tiburon. My best days ever on two wheels.

In 1985 when I was 15 years old the first Harley I Road was a new low rider with the Evo 1340 if I'm correct but there is something different about it that just isn't the same as these newer engines. right now I'm rolling the 88 twin cam 04 Ultra Classic, but, I will never forget that lowrider and the fact that a grown man that worked for my dad driving a truck for my mom and dad's company CR Drivers, trusted me enough to ride it up the road and back, 5 foot 8 140 lbs soaking wet at the time. I had been riding dirt since I was 7 and he knew that, thank you Big John, you took my love for motorcycles to another level🤘🏻 so thank you, Wherever You Are🙏🏻. Great video, keep them coming

Be careful with that glued magnet rotor. The magnets like to come unglued and things get nasty fast on the stator. The factory finally went back to a retained magnet design, # 29981-95. It also eliminates the spacer washer that "turned into a frizbee" on your trashed assembly.

I have 1993 evo. I put a 1-1/2" BDL belt drive in it. For $650.00 you can't go wrong. No more compensator. No more oil to change. A better clutch. And it all fits inside the original primary cover. Cheaper than replacing parts over and over. And no more starter kick back or crunch. I love it!

Your video brought back memories. I have a 94 ultra classic and after the first day of ownership discovered the stator was bad. Also beware the original cam bearings in that motor are notorious for disintegrating around 45000 miles. Mine did and I ended up reworking the entire motor with wiseco pistons, andrews cam, single fire ignition, custom lifters from Texas company and recently Barnett clutch. Runs great and very reliable with the exception of the starter button on the handle bars working when it wants to! Thus the need for the manual button on the solenoid.

Your wife is King. Impressed you thought about it long enough not to waste any time or money. I would have went down the wrong road fast. New parts to boot.

You probably already know this, but if you clean the threads really good with Brakleen before you apply the Red Loctite, it holds way better, I don't have a lot of trouble with compensators coming loose after that. Good to see other people wrenching, I was beginning to think it was a lost art.

Never see that kind of love around these big dealer shops around here.

Tatro is Awesome i have spoken to Keenan Tatro several times and he is always helpful. I have 2 scoots 72 shovelhead he helped me with and a 95 FLSTN i just bought so your videos are a HUGE help since the dealership sold it to me with bad stator and voltage regulator. the dealership is taking responsibilty to fix but if they drag their heels i have the same parts your wife found in my shopping cart at JP Cycles. thanks again for videos and i hope your back is better today.

The reason I'm 2 years late, is because I'm just now looking into a 1993 Heritage with 47,000 miles on it. It looks really clean in the photos (they always do). I'm gonna keep my 2012 StreetGlide though, no trades. Good fix there SaddleTramp, and good luck. Looks like the Bike, and the Ole Lady are both keepers!

Nice job man. Way to think it through on the sound not changing with RPM's. That is something a lot of people don't actually list to. They may pick up on a odd sound but don't pick up on it changing or staying the same depending on what they are doing. Can't wait to see what you are up to in the next one.

I had good luck with cycle electric stator or factory hd . Drag , cus chrome don't last. Love the content. I run a 89 heritage with an antique plate . Built it myself. Delcron cases, runs on 4 wires and ape Hanger's! God bless.

Interesting, also pondering a throwback and settle for an EVO - likely an EVO2 , more like I got older and appreciate carburated bikes and the longer stroke sound of the evo's. Problem is ..I'm not such a hot mechanic, can do basic stuff but replacing a stator/ rotor would be a step up for me. Local shops no interest in servicing EVO's anymore - nearest Indy at 200 Kilometers but a good shop indeed. Good luck with your channel

Hey, dig the EVO's. got a 96' FLHRI which I bought new... Now it's a carburated, cammed with new Fueling lifters. Now it's the most fun one can have (with your clothes on anyway). Good info. on the stator situation, enjoy your EVO.

the early Evo engines are known for cam bearings going out and also the pinion shaft race comes loose and eats the casses so if you have not yet been in the cam chest I suggest you do at the very first noise from that area , I am going to find a way to put my spare S&S Evo engine in my street glide so I can have it all in one nice package, also have a softail with a rippin 90 inch eveo built by me in my garage good luck with it

I love that sound(the pipes). I had an 01 Softtail right before my 03 Fatboy, and it had that same sound. Probably had the same pipes.

I was talking to my mechanic the other day and he says there"s a real trend of bikers who have up-graded to the 8 valves etc to going back to the older evo"s.....I"m thinking the modern bikes are the ones you want to hire...but not actually own...cheers from New Zealand.

Man thats cool that the parts were around, when you needed them. And dang I saw that extension mark on the rotor, and couldnt believe someone could ride, It that long with the bolt loose, Great fix, I probably would trade a twelve for that too.

The EVO sounds good. I have a '13 Slim, although considering purchasing an older EVO Bike.

I'm having same issue with 03' Dyna fxdx along with fixing cam chain tensioner issues! I can relate!

I have a 91 and a 94 Heritage Softail classic and I've had to replace the stator and rectifier rotary cap on both of them luckily I've had no problems since I fix it it was my first time

Be sure to check the old coil. If it's good, clean it up and stash it. Those things are notorious for failing as a result of the heat they get from the primary oil.

Wow...I stumbled across your site not long after I bought my first Harley a 2019 Street Glide. Now, I know how you feel about new stuff but it was my first. Now I am hooked on HD and just bought a project bike. A 1997 HD FXDL with 21k! it just needs some love and molding into something for my taste! Hopefully it will get me off my butt and get my channel going! I am now subscribed to your channel and look forward to going through your content!!

Awesome find on that stator I like the the other style a little better because the magnets don't fall out and leave you stranded but you had them right there why not use them GOOD LUCK STAY SAFE AND KEEP THE RUBBER DOWN AND THE SHINY SIDE UP PAUL TAV AUGUSTA MAINE.

Even the twin cam had this problem , just think ,if you were doing this on a shovel you'd be removing the clutch and inner primary to get to that stator , what a pain in Keister !
