Harley-Davidson Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) Fault Diagnosis and Replacement

My Harley-Davidson Dyna Fat Bob (FXDF) threw up an error code for a Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) fault, so I decided it was time to replace it. This is a simple job, so I recorded the process in case it is useful to anyone else with a similar problem.

I have the same problem. I first changed the temp sensor and it seemed to work. Then the other day I went for a ride to the mountains and stopped to get some water and when i tried turning bike on it just cranked and did not turn on. I waited about 10 - 15 minutes and it stared up again I have been having this problem for awhile now. Did it solve the problem?

So it works well for you now? I have the same problem with mine. Workaround for my problem when hot is to blip the starter and than start normally. It moves the cylinder to easier place to start the bike. I ordered cheap replacement sensore from China to see if it's the problem.
