Just bought a 22' Fatboy. Great review. I don't find that large back tire to be an issue at all. I think that some people that come to Harley expect Sports bike type performance out of cruisers........Harleys are meant for cruising, enjoying the journey and aren't meant to be sport bikes. Love them. Thanks for posting this. Nice review.
I have a fat boy 2018 107 great bike handles great people say it’s hard to handle with a rear tyre that size I say not true. It’s so easy to handle and light . I have just put on Vance Hines slip on‘s. Sounds great.
Greetings from Central Coast California! My very first Harley (3 years ago) is a 2004 Fatboy-fuel injected, Vance Hines Long Shot pipes, with 68k miles. Meticulously cared for by previous owner. Comfortable, amazingly well balanced, easy handling. No problems, very dependable. Ride 2 up with my honey on medium trips to Big Sur and Carmel/Monterey (hard leather covered bags). Previous bike was a 1980 Yamaha XS850. Love the Fatboy! Handles like a dream. Plenty of power. Trustworthy local mechanic told me “Keep the fluids changed and she’ll hit 150K with no problem.” I’m at 88k now. Great video-Thank you!! -An Army Veteran and Proud Teacher ❤️🇺🇸
I live in Louisville, KY USA... I’m nearing retirement from a career in Law Enforcement. I would love to go to Europe and bring a bike and just tour... Watching you ride in this video only makes me want to do it more. Maybe after the world calms down.. if it calms down.
At 2:10, a TR-6 ! My favorite sports car, I've owned two of them and they were dependable daily drivers that had an exhaust note straight from Heaven. The glimpse of English villages and country roads were a treat. And, the Fat Boy is definitely the coolest brute on two wheels. All in all a very enjoyable video. ✌
First as always great video good content secondly I have lost count how many times I have watched this video because it is refreshing to see someone actually recommend a fatboy as an every day bike. everybody seems to gravitate towards the big touring bikes and yes they are great bikes but they seem to do one thing really well long days in the saddle munching the miles on the super slab. There’s loads of softail owners doing the same trips 400-500 mile days and not wishing they had a touring bike. Keep up the great work and it wouldn’t break my heart for you to review the new Road Glide...
This is the best video yet I have seen for the new Fat Boy motorcycle. I want to see one taken from another vehicle so I can see the Fat Boy in action moving down the road. I want to see the movement of the front and rear suspension as it is in motion.
Painting Business Thanks buddy! We’d like to be able to film it as you suggest but as we’re working on zero budget we can’t afford to get shots like that unfortunately. Maybe one day 🤞
@@MrDarcy-OlMan Actually when I first read this my first thought was the wifey driving the family car with the kids in the back seat filming! Might be dangerous.
Karl Es Both very impressive bikes. The Breakout is actually a little bit more ‘flickable’ and also extremely stable; the thinner front tyre gives it more nimbleness and the rake/trail the stability. The Fat Boy is a solid, well planted ride. Both ‘push’ a bit at slow manouvering, but once underway are lovely bikes.
I have only owned Pans Shovels and two twin cams all were FLH FLCTC and FLHRIC types bikes not counting my four Flathead Harley's and Indians. I sold my twin cams this year and picked up a 1998 FLSTF Fatboy. I really like the Fatboy it is lighter and more nimble than my other FLH type HD's. It seem more like my old flatheads in weight I am liking it so far. I am down to this 98 FLSTF and my 72 FLH now but at my age that will be enough.
It was between the fat boy and the heritage, last time I bought a harley. Heritage won because I like to do long days on a bike, but I didn't find it comfortable enough and ended up with a Kawasaki Ninja 1000, which is a great all-day bike. Now that covid has put paid to that sort of trip I really wish I had a fat boy.
super video Guys, I believe the Fatboy is named after that atomic Bomb dropped on Japan at the end of WW2 which I think was is 6th August 1945. A test ride on the Breakout, and the Fatbob, would be also interesting, Id be interested to here if they all have this squeaky drive belt, and weak side stand, like the heritage,114ci.
It may not be as loud as others, but it still has that low "rumble" to it which is adequate in my opinion. Still sounds good in this video. It is still that Harley V-Twin sound. The sound echoed nicely off those brick walls as you made that turn - Definite HARLEY sound! Different exhaust can be added too if preferred.
I have an 09 fatboy! I have 4 Harley’s and my old Fatboy is always special! I think Fatboy is the Standard for what Harley-Davidson is and should be! Roadglide and Street Glide still the best though!!!good review bud!!
I'm 5'8 and would opt for a Sport Glide with narrower profile, slimmer tyres. I've seen one in the flesh and confirmed my vew it would a much easier bike to ride around town or through the twisties.
Admit it is a cool looker but i think the solid wheels could be a problem at speed on a windy day. Great video. I just purchased the street glide special after much much consternation tossing between it the heritage and road king but in the end i just couldnt go past the stereo and gps and the look. Please ride the Road King though, even though i didnt go that way i think it is the best for pure riding of them all even with the 107. keep up the good work.
On my old 1200 Sporty I had 2 Fat Boy wheels fitted with a 32 degree wide glide forks .I rode that bike to work and back near all the time 40 mile round trip and over a high long bridge .The wheels never gave me a problem and these were the solid wheels from a early Fat Boy.
Thanks for sharing! I made a mental goal that after I learned to drive and got my license (which I have successfully achieved) that I would start taking motorcycle lessons and work on getting my license/motorcycle. I'm honestly tied between Iron 883 and Fat Boy 114. I appreciate this video 👍🏼
I was torn on this bike when it first came out. I absolutely love my 2008 Fatboy, and didn't care for these newer bikes. But they're definitely growing on me and I kinda want a new one. But only time will tell
Great video as always. My personally opinion is, that Fat boy is better for man till 6 feet. it's maximum. after 6 feet it looks already little. It's a medium size bike, somewhere between Iron and Heritage.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan That's right! There are already many models for shorter people, so they have to think about big guys also :)...I think problem of Harley today are just ergonomic- specially for big guys and second - prices. they are too high.
Nice looking bike as I have been looking at this one as well as the breakout! Will probably make a decision next year on which to go for as I am still enjoying my Sportster Iron. Good video and thanks for the Info, when are you testing the breakout?
Hi guys. Love your videos. Great work. I am stuck between Fat Boy 114 and Fat Bob 114. I am 175cm and 95kgs Both bikes best in there look. Iconic fat boy and muscular modern fat bob. I mostly go for longer rides including curves. Sat on both bikes in showroom. Bob felt my size and lighter. A video comparing both bikes will be great.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thanks for reply. I bought a fat bob. I test ride it yesterday and loved the sitting position. So natural. Everything where it’s supposed to be and seat is cushiony . Made payment for it. Gonna pick up today. Will send you pictures. Love your videos guys.
Great video . I had been looking for a video in the UK for this bike and picked a 114 fattie up last week ,great fun and handles fine (riding to work) Keep up the good work
Just bought a 2019 in Blue Max. Supposed to pick it up this weekend. Can't wait! That said, how do people travel in both directions on those spartan back streets? I see cars parked facing in both directions, so they have to be 2-way, right?
M109 is an absolute beast I love it but I noticed 10 times out of 10 my completly stock Vrod pulled ahead of it hitting 240km/h only thing was the bars started shaking. (Stock soundless pipes and had no tuner however the M1 was dynotuned)
@@zeuskhan91 interesting. My m109 gets to 150mph also and is dyno tuned with a 2-1 exhaust. Doesn’t matter which is faster as long as you enjoy the bike. Not sure i could ever part with the m109. Thing is cool
I just bought the same exact FAT BOY BIKE. ! Bad Azz Machine ! I will put the Harley 117 ci Stage 3 Kit on my Bike with Cam, Vance and Hines Pro Pipe. new Tune with Mapping
Did this by chance have a tuner? Might be the reason you felt a little increase in performance over the heritage. I had a street tuner installed on my 2019 heritage when I had the eliminator pipes put on. I noticed an increase in power. Thanks.
Really nice video. It helped a lot to see you on the bike riding down the street to get an idea of riding position. You look hot on that bike too and love that accent. 😁
I wish I could get my hands on one of the new Fat Boys for comparison, because the OG one was a bit of a let-down for me. I was in love with that bike's looks well before I ever got to see it in person or ride it. Then I rode one and it was a bit of a case of "never meet your idols". That was on a 1995 or 1996, EU-spec Evo model. So ... 55, 56 hp ... maybe - on 300+ kg machine. Stock sound was laughably quiet, but the things that struck me the most were the sheer weight and the reluctance of the bike to do anything but run in a straight line. Also didn't help that the (stock) brakes felt woefully undersized for the bike's bulk. My summary of that particular Fat Boy would be: Doesn't go, doesn't stop, doesn't do corners and it doesn't sound like a Harley. On the plus side: It came in that rare yellow/cream white two-tone paint-job they did for a short while in the mid 90s and it *really* looked great when you were walking away from it. ;)
Absolutely beautiful my father rides a fat boy he says he's been on hundred's of bikes but he loves the fat boy by far the best. Such a clean rude I have been on his with him really enjoyable 👍👍
Great review, it is an awesome rid I have one and I love it it handles great, the funny is one or too guys on there reviews was bashing the fat boy, that it’s hard to turn into corners, so much frothier from the truth
Liked the video guys. I think this bike is special due to a few of its simple design details...both tyres are wide and aggressive , the front end is monstrous and imposing, and the front headlight dominates the front if the bike. I actually like it for those reasons...quite a simply review but that's what this bike is all about....well done guys!
Great video brother, priceless work I hope someone can help me with my doubt... I would really appreciate it a lot. Too many negative as positive comments and thoughts about harley davidson bikes (beyond the great lookin of course), and too many comments gave me probably a bad idea of how reliable can be harley davidson, and this model (the fat boy) in particular. I love this bike, it's my dream, but far away from the "good look" for the price you are paying for one of these, the last thing you want to know is that you bought a not bullet proof motorcycle, dont get me wrong, I know all bikes are machines and even the "best" brand can have some issues. But I hope someone can tell me with his own experience, if harley davidson (especially the fat boy) it doesn't worth the price... I mean, I don't care how much it cost, for a dream to came true and for a taste of what you love you pay whatever, but far from that, I want to know if this bike can be a really strong engine that (taking care of him) it will last many years, and achieve the reliability that you have an engine between your legs that you can trust that it will not throw you... and that the dealership will not tell you "we cannot solve your problem" or having that kind of "big issues" with the spare parts... -I just want to enjoy the ride with my dream machine, but knowing that my machine will not fucked me up because it's made of crystal. Want to feel confident with a big smile on my face, just like every one of us. I also saw triumphs, hondas, yamahas, indians, ducatis, and I want this fat boy man, it's kinda hard to explain, you already ride it, you know what that bike can do to a soul, but I'm afraid of her reliable, hope someone can clear my mind. Sorry if my english is bad, it isn't my native language Thank you also for the amazing video, I really enjoyed it a lot, keep up the good work !! Ride safe and stay strong
Thanks for your comment bro. In our experience, having had 4 Harleys, they are very reliable, very well built, VERY cool, and just outstanding! Best bikes on the planet in our opinion. Look at Million Dollar Bogan - he has proven the reliability of the Harely-Davidsons time and time again.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan It was really hard to find someone that takes the time to answer, glad you did! Hearing the voice of the experience, I definitely can't be wrong... thanks a lot. Also thank you for so many great videos, this isn't my first one, all the effort you put on every video, it's just incredible Thank you for your time, you helped me a lot in my final decision I will take a look to that channel definitely, thank you for sharing and help me, I send to you good vibes
Great review, any idea why the bike now doesn't have a heal shifter? Also is that all chrome or brushed aluminium? I'm just worried how it would hold up in bad weather
Thanks Dan. I believe the heel shifter demise is a result of rider preferences but it can be bought as an accessory. It’s brushed aluminium and should hold up ok in the weather.
@@MrDarcy-OlMan thank you for your honesty and very quick response. My first bike was a sporster many years ago and I am considering purchasing my first brand new harley davidson fatboy and I love everything about this bike except the chrome was a worry as iv heard so many horror stories, I live in Ireland so weather not kind to riders
Dan The Chippie no problem Dan. I guess you could also try to find some videos of people who own Fat Boys and ask them how they hold up in the wet weather over time.
I love the fact that the bike is dirty as hell from roaring around!!! HD`s should be rode rough ! I am tired of the show pony HD videos !!!!! HELL YA !!!!
I had 1340 Evo Fat Boy in 1994 and a twin Cam 103 Fat Boy in 2012, both of which were great. I’m not a fan of the current Fat Boy, however, since I dislike front light nacelle, the brushed chrome look and the chopped rear fender. To me, Harleys are no longer what they were and, after 26 years and 12 Harleys, I’ve recently switched to a Triumph Tiger and, boy, I can’t believe how much better it handles. I’m done with Harley!
I see your points, I guess the gotta try and appeal to new audiences. I test ride a triumph years back and wasn’t a fan but I’m sure it depends on the model which is the same to say about Harley
Riding a Kawasaki Z900RS but very much considering a Fat Boy or Sport Glide. Leaning towards the Fat since I like the look more. I love doing long rides from time to time but mostly trips are around 100km a day, often smaller roads, through towns etc (Belgium). Would a Fat Boy handle well? No way to testride one here in Belgium, going to test a Street Bob and Sport Glide this friday though. Really need to make up my mind...
Road king, around same price but much more accommodating for non-hobbits. Krauss seat raises seat height by another inch easily and lots of aftermarket foot control options to play around between performance and comfort. Also I think it’s a bit more nimble than both those bikes at slow speeds.
I'm asking if it's better handling than a Breakout!🙄💭 By the way....the consumption of this bike? Next year I want to change the bike and I've a lot of doubts...Fat Boy or Breakout? A Triumph Rocket 3...? Gracias for your opinion
Hey there, I’m yet to test ride the breakout but it’s next on the list so stay tuned for that video, I’ll make sure to do a little comparison between the fat boy and the breakout!
Yep beautiful country there .Where i live our village name goes back to the year 774 and in 925 it was given to a loyal friend of the first King of England ( Athelstan ) grandson of Alfred the great .
Another great video! I’m about to start biking and looking at the little yellow Honda 125 as a starter bike for about a year. After that I’d like a Harley, would you recommend something like a 48 special or could I go straight to a fat boy or street bob? I’m 6 foot. Thanks!
Thanks! The monkey is awesome and a great start. A 48 would be a perfect next step and yes you could go straight to a Street Bob or FatBoy but the jump is massive and the big Harleys have so much torque and weight that they take some getting used to.
Saw a review by Blockhead from US. He says it’s difficult in tight turns! More so in UK with our tighter roads. I’m 67 but fit. Think I’ll test one. Any comments regarding manoeuvrability!!!
D Jm Hi! Yes it’s only a small characteristic at low speeds ( ie walking speed). Once moving it’s very nice to ride and corners fine. It’s not what you’d call nimble, but it is not bad. It’s a combination of geometry and fat front and rear tyres that make it need a slightly different technique.
How is the vibration and the buzzing on the fatboy? I've ridden old Harleys and the vibration was overwhelming. I've ridden the fxdr, the vibration was tolarable but the buzzing was disturbing. How is it on this bike?
@@MrDarcy-OlMan I will definitely check on them.. thx.. the fat boy is just amazing. maybe the next season I change my forty-eight sportster for this beauty.
This cornering thing had me worried before I bought my Fat Boy .First time out I was laying it over no prob .Then thought jeez if some guys scrape the foot boards they must be at a crazy angle.I just would not have the nerve to lay it over that far.
Great video, thank you. 👏 Two questions, please ... Does that headlamp actually illuminate very much at night? What is the town you are riding around? It looks a very nice place with a lot of older, character properties.
Real nice ones can be found .I bought a 2002 one 1450cc. Its like new .11000 miles .less than half new price with extras already on it , plus white wall tyres.
