Are the Progressive Suspension Series 412 Shocks worth the money? This is a review and installation video. Please like and subscribe to the channel. Click the notification button
So many people want to "lower" their rides for style, then comment in all the shock review vids, saying their ride sucks. Lower = shorter travel = rough ride. A taller shock with the proper sag adjustment will save you money at the chiropractors office... and you'll actually be able to ride for more then 10 miles at a time... which might save you some money for those trailers people buy.
I just ordered a set for my 15 ultra limited . Thanks for the video on the 412 shocks on a bigger bike . Most videos are about putting them on Sportsters
@@ozziejim8472 Got them on, took about 1 1/2 to install. Awesome ride, big difference. I adjusted & test ride until I got the perfect feel. I have about 200 miles on them now. 👍🏽👍🏽
@@recondmv6342 Glad to hear that you like them. I ride 2-up most of the time and these shocks made a big difference in comfort for me and my passenger. I'm sure you will get the adjustment to your liking. Ride safe.
If you go to progressive’s website, put in your bike info and it will tell you what the stock length is. For the best ride I would recommend the stock length shock as it should give you the most travel to absorb compression.
Hate to ask, but does the standard work for you? The wife and I weigh about 325lbs total. Think the standard would be enough for a basic touring Harley?
Yes. They made a big difference! It's always best to get a stock length shock so you keep/maintain the appropriate length of travel. A shorter shock will have less travel.
The spring preload only effects the sag of the bike based on the weight of the rider, passenger, and gear. It will affect the compression and rebound of the shock if the shock piston (via the spring) is not set to the proper preload.
Great video man, how are these shocks after a year now. Also want to ask that you got the 13” shocks what is the size after installation? Does it come down to 12.5” or still 13”?
I am still satisfied with these shocks. We have put a lot of miles on them. I did not measure the shocks after the final installation. You set the pre-load on the shocks according to the installation instructions. This ensures that you have the proper amount of travel once you and your passenger are on the bike. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!
My stock suspension on my 21 ultra limited is 13 inch as well as the progressive 412s I just installed but they lowered my bike about 1 inch. Adjusting the preload will raise my bike?
Did it lower without the rider, passenger, and gear? If both shocks were 13 inch then it should remain at stock height with out the rider, etc. If the height was lowered with the rider, passenger, and gear on the bike, then you will need to adjust your preload. Progressive has pretty good instructions on their site. I hope this was helpful.
I just received mine (412-4211c) and the shock shaft has a loose washer on top of the bump stop of the shock (both on the shock shaft) Is this normal? Did yours also have that washer in the shaft? or would it be a assembly defect ? Asking because i dont know if i should bother Progressive before installing my shocks
@@whatcomesnext5865 They were! They told me the loose washer is normal and it is supposed to seat itself when riding the bike. They also had Hotel California on the phone line, which for me is top notch customer support
Had Bad Hips, Both Fixed Now/;-))))2013 RKC Put A Solo Seat , Pro 430 ???Think 10.50 Or 11.00 Was Able To Swing Leg Over ! Without To Much Pain!!! Pain Free Now . Peace I Hope !
I just put 11 1/2 inch on my Nomad. I'm very disappointed in the too firm ride. Maybe the 13 inch would have been better, but with my stock shocks, i floated over pot holes, so would have been no point. It is a trade off as i'm a short guy and have more confidence with this top heavy bike.
Same with me, now i think i need to also change the kickstand to 1inch shorter to avoid drops during stationary stand bec the weight its not properly lean to the left when it is stationary
@@whatcomesnext5865 Hi Mark, thanks for the video! Thinking of putting this on my 95 King. Is there a reason why you did not go with the heavy duty series? I am 220 lbs, 6 feet and the wife is about 5'3" 130lbs and when we ride we probably have 60 pounds of gear, tools etc. Just thinking the Heavy Duty may be better? Thoughts?
@@SteelHorse1015 We are about same weights but don't travel fully loaded very much so I went with the standard duty. I also used Progressive's website for some guidance. If you travel fully loaded alot, the heavy duty versions may be better for you. I would also recommend that you stick with the stock shock length so you retain the greatest amount of shock travel as possible. Good luck and thanks for watching!
My stock air shock length for my bike is 13 inches. I ordered the 13 inch shocks from Progressive. Thanks for reaching out to me. If you have any other questions let me know.
Progressive is expensive in regard of the very average buit quality like the very basic and fragile black painting and the dynamic performances are not very good. I don't understand why so many ppl buy it.
