Alf, love the fact that you still attack the roads with a motorcycle-even when wet roads are having to be ridden on, you practice "cautious abandon" when riding! Great example of proper riding technics! You, also, explain this fact out to help the new riders. Doug🏍️👍⭐⭐⭐🤓
I have a '19 SG (w- Stage III). Out for a ride this afternoon, South Carolina, a beautiful day after 5 days of heavy rain. We were 2 up, not how I regularly ride, but I have to say the grin factor was just as big with the two of us as it is riding solo. As you keep saying, the Sport Glide is a great bike. Yes things can be added, brakes and what not, with that the price goes up. I'm happy! And it sould like you are also.
I like your enthusiasm; your emotional report. I love de bike. For some months this year I was passing by the dealer. They have no Harleys to test in Portugal. They dad one of this model but it was sold. I'ts a strict market here. I could command one of them and wait for some months. But I finished by giving up and I bought a Royal Enfield Classic 500. And I'm in love with it, in spite of their rusticity and need of constant care to keep all bolts in place. I loved to compare yous states of mind during your tour with mines. No so different as I thought. The use I gave to Royal Enfield is more or less the same; perhaps in more hilly and busy roads. Not in dual carriage ways, of course.
I have order my 2020 Sport Glide River Rock Gray Denim in August, It should be delivered in mid-december, I can’t wait for it!!! It will be my first HD, my bike will be delivered in Marseille, the Provence roads are waiting me!
Been riding many decades. Never could bring myself to buy an HD. They always had some problem or other. Almost bought a Dyna on 2016, but when I took it for a ride I couldn't get the thing in neutral to save my soul. Neither could the salesman. Nixxed that deal. I was really impressed with the Softies when they came out. They carry their weight much lower than the touring models. That coupled with the M8 that can breath throughout the rev range made them feel much like my former Victory which I loved. I think the Heritage was overall the model I liked to ride the best, but I ended up on a Road King. Kinda prefer the rubber mounted engine. Also like the idea of being able to hook up a tour pak and not having to worry about tube tires. The hard, locking panniers were a plus too. The Road King's weight was almost a deal breaker, but I'm glad I went thru with it. Someone coming from other brands will undoubtedly find the low CoG of the Softies preferable. Thing is, except for moving it out of the garage and a few parking incidents, the weight doesn't bother me anymore. Just takes a little time to get a feel for how to control it at low speeds.
A great machine. In Australia the 2020 models no longer have an alarm as standard and you only get one key. It is still the Harley Davidson that answers all the people who previously would never have bought one. That's why I bought one.

Now if my dealer would loan me a new bike to play around with while they did my service, I'd be willing to give up spinning my own wrenches. That's a proper perk.
I am considering changing my bike in the new year and had almost settled on the Sport Glide, now Im 100% 👍 Also great to see a test ride in my neck of the woods👍

My choice of Harley these days is the club style of the Low Rider S with plenty of add-on's. My second choice,That Sport Glide with a few add-on's as well. 1. 12"riser with the appropriate fairing 2. Replace those bags with Pelican cases 3. Exhaust replaced with the Deep low rumble of the V/H Pro Pipe 2 in1. The Sport Glide would look,ride and sound Bad - Ass...👍😎 my opinion.
Very interesting that you mention bedding the engine in... your right about that it takes a few miles to free up huh.. about 400 miles for mine roughly 550 km.. Then it improves again at about 1000 km. The Japanese in line 4,s don't take much at all , you hardly notice any change, I run in about 4 of those bikes .. I agree with Alf.. The sport glide is an amazing bike, go test ride one, take it out for an hour or so. It's expensive yes but you're going to love it. 😎👍👍👍👍
I recently bought my very first motorcycle, a 2020 Harley Davidson iron 883, in black denim and of course the entire bike is completely blacked out and looks awesome. Blacked out that is, except for the turn signals, indicators to you, and some reflectors which are all in orange. Now everyone keeps telling me to get these dark, smoky colored signals and remove the reflectors and such but I am NOT DOING THAT! I am absolutely keeping them orange! Harley Davidson colors are black and......orange! So I’m keeping it that way. I personally like it. My black and orange Harley Davidson iron 883. I will likely get some LED lights but they are staying orange! Dammit!
Ergonomic is alway,s or should be a point at 6 foot 3 i dont fit i test rode ALL softails and one should do that before laying down hard cash.Just saying anyway great vid.
The Canadians did a great job on the wheels on their Sport Glide in the Battle of the Kings. Did you see it? Otherwise I don’t like the stock wheels much.
I am pleased to own a 2020 sport glide in Barracuda Silver. I had the dealer add a Mustang solo seat and Tab exhaust with Zombie baffle. Waiting for a 5inch tinted screen to replace the 1.5inch HD supply from the factory. This should add a little more protection from the buffeting at speed. Looking for a black rear fender rack any ideas anyone? aftermarket is limited.
That's great. Apart from H-D the only ones I can think of are from a German company called Motea I think do them. I have seen some custom fab ones on Etsy from an Ironworker so that might tempt you. Cheers
What gets me is the main primary is all chrome, it would look better blacked out and what is odd is that you can order the black primary if you want to swap it out and the price is cheaper than the chrome. I will be getting mine powder coated black.
Oh I hadn’t realised it would be cheaper. How odd. When I bought mine, I would have to pay extra for either the wrinkle of gloss black covers. I couldn’t order the bike with my choice, so perhaps that’s changed now? Cheers
RevelatorAlf I think I screwed up, the primary cover where you put the oil in is wrinkled black, but the chain primary is all chrome, if you go online the black chain primary is cheaper than the chrome chain primary. Sorry for the mixup.
