Our 2001 Harley-Davidson Sportster 883 had a broken motor, so we bought a 1200 motor and swapped it in.

Great job! What year is the bike and the new motor? I'm thinking of swapping out the motor in my 93 sportster with a newer one.

When you used the poles on saw horse. How is it attached to moter. Or is there a sling

Keith Burchell the poles are duct taped together so they don’t separate. the poles go through the narrowest part of the v twin so the cylinders sit on the poles

What are the mods in terms of engine mounts do you have to take into account? Will every other parts of the old 883 bolt right on the 1200?

They are the exact same motor. The only difference is the bore size. Everything else is exactly the same

SaddleTramp at that point it was easier to just replace to motor rather than rebuilding it

Hahaha. We do that with big twins cause it’s easier to hornswoggle them in without the tranny
