Thanks a million. Replacing the reverse motor. Borrowed a MC jack but the front wheel comes up way too soon. Showing the tow point jacking I can use a floor jack. Saved me time and lots safer. Jacking a single point allows for surface not being perfectly flat.
@@amosheath777 glad you could use some of the information. It just seems like jacking up these tri glides can be confusing and sometimes dangerous but get it in the right spot. Everything works good.
Greetings from U.K. and many thanks for the invaluable jacking information. Sure, we could find all this out for ourselves, but I appreciate that you have investigated the issue and saved me considerable time in crawling around the floor to find out.
I have a 2020 Trike as well. I made a set of your blocks. I had a scissor jack laying around so I used it to raise one side or the other. Worked perfectly. The scissor jack is narrow and fits between the mufflers and such very nice. I welded a nut to the scissor lift so I can use a cordless drill or ratchet rather than the crank it came with.
Good move. I got the block idea from a guy off of trike talk.com, so I am not the original thinker on that one. I just put new nexGEN DK custom shocks on my trike. What a difference in ride it’s a whole new different motorcycle on the expensive side though.
@@windsurfed1 I ran a one man Harley shop out of garage until last year. Just didn't want to do it anymore but once in a while I get my arm twisted. I'm a firm believer in remaining stock and OEM, especially with regard to the mechanics. Talking to my dealer, I'm looking into a different shock set up (forget the brand name) but he told me to wait a little as they had some issue with the lift kit it comes with. At about 9,200 miles on mine, I'm going to need a new front tire soon. Cannot get an answer from anyone as to why a flat profile tire can't be used. Avon makes a Trike tire so i'm considering that.
@@Greenjeans2020 I am thinking you know what you’re talking about since you ran your own shop for a while. I like you like to keep the engine stock especially. Little do dads here in there does not bother me, but when I add things I like to go to the OEM as much as possible because it’s a perfect fit every time. I put a new front tire on right around 13,000. Went with the stock tire that came on the bike. I guess I liked the ride enough not to change anything out to something different.
Glad you watched the video. Pretty cut and dried where they want you to place the jack. Interesting if nothing else. Anyway, still riding the TG and enjoying it!
I just finished making your wooden blocks (with the 3/4" extender piece. (I made an extension for both sides). I have a real nice "low profile" heavy duty floor jack, but Ilike the jack you use, as it appears more "universal" and you would be able to use it in tighter places or perhaps when your Trike is already off the ground and you may want to raise a certain section higher. So, I'm debating whether or not to buy a jack like that as well to have it on hand. What the heck - it's only money and Lord knows I've already spent a fortune on motorcycles, parts and equipment over the years!! Glad youre still having fun on the Tri-Glide. I just turned 75 and have owned Harley (2 wheel Ultra Classic Touring) motorcycles most all my life and can still "hold them up", but I don't feel as comfortable in tight spots riding them as I used to. So late last year, I tried out my first Tri-Glide (a 2019 used, and a 2023 new, and fell in love! I ended up buying the 2019 used one and actually went from enjoying riding to having fun riding! Unfortunately, because of the season changes (I live in New Hampshire) I had to put the Trike up for the winter shortly after I bought it, but not before I put 1,000 + fun filled miles on it. I've put some nice "extras" on it since, and am anxiously waiting for spring! Be safe and happy riding!
@@rogeramadon4064 I like you I’ve spent a lot of money on motorcycles over the years and I believe this probably will be my last one. They are a gas to ride. glad to hear you buoght a TG. It will extend your riding season as you know. The older we get the heavier the motorcycles get, and the harder they are to move around your garage. That’s kind of the reason why I bought my trike. You will thoroughly enjoy it. I have to admit, though, that I did not like the OEM shocks and almost quit riding because of them. When I went to a new rear suspension, it made all the difference in the world and now I’m back to enjoying every part of it.
Thanks for the tip on the shocks - So far I have not had any uncomfortable experiences. Time will tell and I will make any necessary adjustments. Take care and ber safe!
Yes they are time-consuming sometimes but when you get done, they look nice. Rather awkward in jacking it this way. There are other ways to jack the rear of the motor cycle as you’re probably aware of. Probably a little easier that way too but whatever guy wants to do, right!
Ok, so I looked for a specific video from DK on tri glide lifting/jacking and could not locate one. Perhaps I'm missing something. Can you tell me the title of the video. Now I did look at a couple of Dk videos on shock replacement and It did show how to jack the rear up and put it on jack stands. Very good, as I did not know that method. One thing mentioned was strapping the front tire/wheel down to prevent it from coming off the ground. Get back to me..
Hi there from the other side of the Atlantic ocean, from Portugal. 1st and foremost, GREAT video, lots of detailed information to help around. Just one simple question: what if you don't have a mini jack lift like the one shown and only a car jack? Where should i place the jack (head) to lift each wheel of the ground? Again, keep up the great work and... ride safe. ;-)
Different cars have different jacks. Some have bottle jacks and some have bumper jacks. Don’t know which one you have. But I’ve seen guys jack their Tri glides up from the very rear end frame crossmember in the back that seems to work. It usually get both tires off the ground at once
I put it up for the winter up on the lift. I start it about once a month and let it run for 15 minutes. If I get a chance I’ll go ride for 15 minutes in the cold. Also, I have a battery tender on it and I keep the gas tank topped off with Stable marine stabilizer in a black bottle
I got that one off Amazon for $80 here is the link if you can get to it and the name F2C Wide Deck Scissor Lift Jack ATV Motorcycle Dirt Bike Scooter Crank Hoist Stand 1100 LB www.amazon.com/dp/B01M3QZS5N/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_i_EH9DKA05JJK3Z7QJX5M6?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
@@robertrolinson3821 well, congratulations on your new purchase! You will enjoy the motorcycle. Just be careful, because it can empty your pocketbook fast all accessories. Again, congratulations!
