Putting the pushrods back into the 81 Sportster. This video applies to all the adjustable Harley pushrod motors with Solid Lifters. If you have HYDRAULIC lifters there are more steps. I will try and make a video for that down the line when one of the shovelheads need some love.

Thanks so much. I bought an '82 Iron Head Sportster 1000, and have been slowly learning how to wrench it, but was intimidated by doing a valve adjustment when it is due. You made it easier to follow than the manual!

Man thank you so much. Can't believe I have been prying on my fins to install those clips this whole time...

Glad I could help! I did that for years and saw an old timer do that once and had a similar reaction! Thanks for watching!

Lol I got a bendix too and manually flip it, but when you said "little choke" and opened it I just died laughing!

Haha I never realized that but that is pretty funny. It’s massive!

@Wrenching Wrecked lol mine has three settings on the toggle. All the way down is wide open, middle is about 80% closed, and top is all the way closed. I've never had to close it all the way to start it. I have a '74 ironhead.

This one doesn’t like all that much choke either. It’s a butterfly not a bendix, but I have a bendix on the other one I’m rebuilding right now.

@Wrenching Wrecked I mean bendix as in the manufacturer, looks like you have a 38mm bendix/zenith carb.

@@gabrielhearn2274 this one’s a bit later than the bendix carbs. Amf era late model before the cv. The early bendix has an adjustable main jet if I remember correctly. I have one on the other ironhead I’ll post soon
