HARLOW AND PANDA HAVE A LESSON WITH PIPPA FUNNELL! 

This makes me really happy as Pippa doesn’t need fancy arenas and fancy stuff to become a top event rider she has a little school and has still made it to the top ♥️

I love that Pippa works on foundations. Everything depends on flatwork. If your flatwork isn’t good, nothing can be good

Today I learned that Pippa Funnell is a REAL PERSON. Lol, as a South African kid I grew up playing the Pippa Funnell horsey video games and I was under the impression the name was a series of horse games. EDIT to say that this was such a cool lesson to watch! She sounds sort of like my trainer haha, a good amount of encouragement. I feel like I learnt a lot from this video! Please do more lesson videos!! Harlow's riding has improved so much and I can't wait to see how she does at HOYS!

Glad Pippa mentioned delaying the petting bc it throws so many off and does not prep them for the reality of competition, with more jumps coming. Verbal praise goes a long way without throwing them off balance. As she said, one can alternatively remain in proper pace cantering, then circle at canter, then transition down to trot, then pat. Praise alone often works though. The key is not to train them to immediately lose form and speed after jumping or to expect pats after every jump.

I've always loved Pippa's no nonsense approach!! Basics are so important, fair play for listening and trying.

Now THAT'S what you need, Harlow! I'd love to see you have a lesson from a dressage instructor, but honestly, Pippa basically gave you one. Your reliance on your inside hand she noted right away and spent 90% of the lesson on that--and she is dead right. Turn the horse with your body and legs, and control the shoulder with your OUTSIDE rein. Inside rein should do nothing but supple. Best video of yours I've seen. I hope you take this lesson to heart--it will do you a lot of good! And I hope you can work with Pippa again!

I love these videos where you both travel or have a trainer come in and give a lesson. I don't have access to coaches like this so its super educational watching these lesson videos. A lot of Harlow's mistakes are very common and I find I make those mistakes as well. Applying her critiques to my riding has really improved my dressage scores!
