We stupidly assume that everyone is tolerant and happy for other peoples success. We forget that as quilting covers such a huge part of society it includes hateful, hurtful, intolerant people too. Some of the comments that can be seen on social media are downright mean. It’s not surprising that you reacted the way you did, when someone attacks you for no apparent reason you want to hit back. The older I get the better I am getting at walking away from things until I can be calm and not hit back in the heat of the moment but it’s not easy. You have come a long way and unfortunately learned the hard way how awful people can be. I watched as you spiralled without fully realising what you were being subjected to, I’m sorry I wasn’t more supportive. The best revenge you can have is to heal and be successful despite their best efforts.

Thank you for putting words to your trauma. No one needs to be marginalized. I had discussions with quilters who were marginalized because of their skin color. I was jawdropped shocked! I had no idea that it occurred. Being a deaf quilter though, I get it. And in that vain, thank you for close captioning your videos. You'd be suprised how many still are not, even after asking them to enable close captioning. So a big thank you on your accessiblity. I am so sorry you had to go through that experience! You are fabulous! Should you get your own manufacturing peeps, and make your own fabric line, notions, the whole glorious thing, we'll be there. We'll support and we'll show up, and well you know we will buy fabric!!!!!!!!!

Ok, just saw this. And I have to say that your choice to learn, to grow, and evolve for the greater good, including yourself, is both inspiring and SO needed. Quilting is an art form and the old guard should make room for ALL artists. Truly, hate is loud as you said. But it stands weak and has no power in the eyes of love and integrity. Hate cowers when the power of our love for ourselves and others is inclusive and generous. This video is the truth of your journey and I respect you even more for your honesty about where your are as a person. Righteous anger is sometimes the worst kinds because we thing it justifies us going as far as we want to go with our anger. BUT...there are people in this world that have (somehow) trained themselves to be triggered to be CALMER in their response; becoming NON-VIOLENT in these situations. I´m so sorry for what you have been thur, it is just not ok, that people use this platform to be mean. Every one should have the right to be who they are. In Denmark our Morning show tried to confront some of the people, that hide behind their screens to post hate, but they all showed to cowards. I started following you when I was still working and in management. I have to say, you teach about more than sewing and fiber. Who you are and the information you give helped to bridge a communication gap with some of my staff that I am not sure I would have been successful with otherwise. Remember to stay honest with yourself and the people around you . Sorry you had to go thru all that , life is a learning lesson . If we don't learn the first time , we will keep repeating it until we learn from it . I know I have missed you my friend , you give us so many ideas, new ideas , different or easy ways of sewing something . Please keep on teaching , helping us all to grow/ learning in the sewing world . The world has changed , even in the sewing world . You do, what you need to do for your healing journey. Good, you have someone to support your healing and also, glad, it did not shut you down that you experienced, what you did. I am sometimes blind and did not recognize your own fabric in one of your shorts where you did hexies with trans fabrics. Once I got the funds, I hope, you still have the fabrics and I can get some to do some sewing magic.

I encourage you to go for it and keep going. I have been bipolar all my life and struggle with low feelings inspite of my many talents. With years of experience now I concentrate on the possibilities in my life and ignore negative people. Keep pushing through to be your best version of you. Quilting is my favorite hobby, I hope you continue to find joy in that space. As an example, I regularly buy fabrics designed and sold by Angela Walters of Quilting is my Therapy, I believe they get complete control of the design process and printed fabric seems to be of high quality, very smooth and has stood up well to washing if you are ready to get back into designing fabrics but not ready to align yourself with a manufacturer, I'm not sure if designing custom printed fabric might suit you? (I'm a complete industry outsider, I have no idea how those things work, just trying to think of options that would not pose any barriers to your creativity.)

Also I find a lot of hard-core quilters are very into religions that are against lgbtq or alternative quilters. I got chased out of a guild because I'm pagan and lgbtq. "No space for people who don't follow god" and "quilting is God's hand to wrap around you, you disgrace quilting" were some of the comments I received. It's frustrating. And unacceptable.

You are f$#%^8# amazing, the haters will always hate, and don't realize the impact of their actions on someone and society. Please look after you for you are enough...more than enough. You're inspiring although I love your vulnerability, I hate the fact you have had to address this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but so is history. I know it is a big project but the idea that you might open your own store is very exciting. The world needs more lgbtq+ businesses. The more people are visible in the world the more prejudice becomes difficult to maintain. It's an uphill climb and scary and you are under no obligation to put yourself out there, but it seems that this is something that you want and I hope you are able to realize it.

I'm horrified by your story but you appear to be healing, although we can all still see your fragility. I could say ignore all the hate out there but its hard. Your healing journey though appears to have placed you on the right track. You recognise that its the haters problem and unfortunately you cannot change them. These bigots (I could use more hateful words to describe them) will use every means to justify themselves and their actions. Worrying times ahead for all of us throughout the world as it would appear bigotry seems to be on the increase. What I would like to say is as a Brit I stand with you, I support you. I'm just one little person but from the comments below, there are lots of us "one little persons" and that I hope gives you strength in knowing. Yeah. Sometimes healing involves a lot of goodbyes. Doesn’t mean there won’t be open-armed, enthusiastic hellos!

Release the negative thoughts and injustice. Jealousy should be considered a form of bullying. You have the right to speak your mind. Maybe think how you form your sentences. Mental health is very hard to balance. Love yourself. Accept the past as just that the PAST. Electricon hug going out to you.

You do NOT have to be on the spectrum to recognize how you react. I think its very enlightened of you. Also not taking things personally, is hard when you are an emotional personal and are putting your heart and soul into every project so it will succeed. Trust me I know. Also maybe downsize your vision/dream and maybe set goals/steps and grown as you reach each one. F ppl who can't accept you for you, but also accept them for who they are. I have learned I'm not having negativity in my life by just removing it and not fighting/pushing against it, bc most ppl won't change. I want to be happy and not argue with anyone and do me. In 2020, so many of us were outrage by a hateful administration and its free hating followers. What made it worse, was being isolated by a deadly virus. However, as a mental health professional, I also saw you drowning. I am so happy that you are in a better place today. I said your creativity inspired me, but your humanity is the true inspiration. Since your last video, I have lost my oldest son to an upper respiratory infection and complications of his dialysis treatment on Dec.10 th 2022. Then in May 2023 we lost our female miniature long hair piebald dapple dachshund Sugarfoot when she passed away in her sleep on May 31. Then in Dec we lost our male miniature long hair black and tan dachshund Gunner's Coal. He passed away in the early morning hours of Dec 16, 2023. Since my son's passing, I have not been doing any sewing.

No idea what’s going on with you. My mantra is keeping passing through the nos until you get to yes. We are all allowed to blow up our lives. Please take what’s left to you and walk through the world getting to yes. There is a yes out there. I have to wade waist deep to find mine. Forgive yourself.

People are afraid of truth and change, life is difficult and true to yourself! Can be as hard. Move forward not backward 🙂

My heart hurts that this was done to you. I will never join a quilting guild as long as they are un accepting of your community.
