I remember when these “i” series came out. I was pretty young and the stereo world was still in big chrome monster mode. These were so clean and lean looking. Made quite an impression on me. I own a couple Vxi series but haven’t found a good clean i. Not that I need another HK but, you know how things go. Good vid Trevor and thanks for cranking some Au Pairs last week. Sent me into my vinyl pile and brought back some great memories.
Thank you for your time; your experience shows up in the incremental improvements you made along the way. These receivers were always underrated but a solid investment when new. Time for a little tune-up to give these another life extension, your customer should be very happy - looking forward to the next video, enjoy your weekend!
Is it completely dead or just doesn't pick up signals? If it's completely dead then check the power supply. If it's passing signals or noise it could be faulty antenna and it's wires or shorted tuning capacitor. Outside of that, you'll need test equipment to see if the local oscillator is working and if the IF is passing signals
@@TrevorsBench thanks for replying so quickly! I would say completely dead but I can sometimes hear very faint white noise / crackling coming from it as I roll through the dial but not necessarily when I pass by where a signal should definitely be.
Must have been popular in Canada, have not seen here in the States. 2 fuses missing..................And still works, quite remarkable. That is a nice touch, being able to add 2 more service caps. 50W idle, too high for me, that must have run hot. Green light looks much better.
I took a break in January and I'm posting some vids that were shot but sat in limbo. I'm still kinda on break but am working on a project right now. I don't always have the time or energy to do huge projects. Sometimes the repairs want to take over my time
nice, I think this was not sol in Europe? Last video you just soldered some cracked joints, this time you try the tonyxray method of doing magic with calculators. Your older videos were better, where you fixed issues without magic and had real problems to solve. This is either for beginners or rocket scientists to hack the harman with wrong parts witout explaination, but at least it works. Hope your next videos will be normal again.
