Hi, my name is Luke "Playa T." Clebsch. Thank you for watching another one of my free harmonica lessons, "Harmonica Basics 14: How to Play the 12 Bar Blues Form".
One reason harmonica players too often get a bad rap is because they don't know the blues form, so they are not playing the appropriate thing at the appropriate time. If you want to play the blues, you've got to pay your dues, and you have got to know this form!
I chord = 2draw (or 3 blow) or 2,3,4 draw
IV chord = 1blow, 4, blow (or 123 blow, 456 blow, 789 blow)
V chord = 1 draw, 4 draw
The turnaround are the last 2 bars of the 12 bar blues because they "turn" us around back to the top of the tune. Here is the harmonica tabs in C for the quintessential blues harmonica turnaround lick that I play:
2-2- 3-3-(bent half-step) 4+4+ 4-4-(bent half-step) 4-(released) (slide down to) 1- 1+ 1-
