Organist Janet Yieh plays Harmonies Du Soir, Harmonies of the Evening, from Karg-Elert's Three Impressions for Organ, Op. 72 at St. Paul's Chapel of Trinity Wall Street in New York City.
Early 20th century German composer Sigfrid Karg-Elert (1877-1933) wrote over 250 works for organ. Encouraged by Edvard Grieg and inspired by Johann Sebastian Bach, Karg-Elert's musical language is harmonically adventurous and colorful, yet grounded in counterpoint and traditional forms.
Performed live March 2018 on the Noack Organ Opus 161, renovated and installed in 2017. Recorded in concert by the Trinity Media Team.
