Yes, you are correct. Your DMC Master has a 20.5” top tube with a 13 1/4 chainstay I think. Todays modern Bmx bikes now have SHORT chainstays. Your older Masters from the 80’s had chainstays over 15”. So, your oldschool Master had a 19” top tube and a 15” chainstay. Inorder for you to get that same size you would need to get a Master or Sport with a 21” top tube. At Flatlandfuel you can get the black Master frame in a 21”. Theyll be ready for delivery late summer. That would feel closer to what you had in the 80’s. I’m 5’9 and a lot of flatland tricks I cant do on these 20.5” top tubes. I have to ride flatland on the smaller Flatland Masters. I use the bigger ones for ramp riding.
Got a question for ya you think those bars aluminum underneath that green paint or raw steel can't find a pair of bars anywhere thought about stripping those and polishing them
4130 Chromoly raw steel underneath. I wouldnt strip them. Somebody out there will want them just as they are. If you strip and polish them you will have to maintain them to keep from rusting. Maybe you can sell them and use the money to buy another set of bars. Check Flatlandfuel, Bmxmuseum, planetbmx, acebmx. They have nic bars for sale!
This is the legendary twin top tube frame you speak of that was first implemented by Torker Bikes back in the late 70’s early 80’s and used by Haro around the same time. Haro uses this twin top tube design for their Master model. This design is used so you can stand on the top tubes more comfortably and is what makes the Haro Master so popular. The circle hole you speak of is in the plate between the top tubes and the circle is cut out inorder to reduce weight of the frame.
Hey Will I'm finding this bike seems a bit small for me I'm 5'9 wondering if you have any advice that would be helpful would this bike be able to use a layback seatpost would that help and maybe bigger bars? All the research I've done tells me this bike should work for my height bike just seems small compared bikes I rode in the early 80s and 90s I want to make it more comfortable to cruise on thinking of a layback seatpost and dominator seat any advice would help thanks
You’ll have to find the seat post that will fit. I think their 25.4 but cant remember. Your seat post will have to be for railed seats if you want go use a Dominator. Check PorkchopBmx. You can ask Patrick at Flatlandfuel for all the tech questions on seat post size and what could work for you.
@@hanssteele3024 well, i am 5’9 also and this bike is actually too big for me for Flatland. I have to be able to sit on the headtube and reach the rear pegs but i cant on a frame that is over 19.5” top tube. This bike is 20.5”. It all depends on the kind of tricks you want to do. Try to find your lay back seat post set up and go with handlebars that have a higher rise. You can send the bars to Chip at C4 labs to powdercoat the green color. He has a good match. Porkchopbmx used to sell repop Dominators. I dont know who sells lay back seat post in the correct size.
@@generationofbmx Awesome thanks for the help I'm surprised it's to big for you lol is there a kid version I accidentally bought lol 😂 I'll have to send some pics to you or a video bike just seems small to me thanks for everything 👍
No I sold it this past summer. Hated to see it go but I was ready for a change. Used the funds for a 2018 Black Haro Sport. They only made 150 of them and someone had it for sale unopened in a box. Had to have it. Lol. I will make a video of it soon.
I have the 2019 Lineage and although it is the best riding bike I have ever owned I don't want to get it dirty or scratch it up! I want to find something like this but a little beat up so I can have a daily rider!
