Sad to see Dipesh mum on Truth as a Historian, perhaps in an attempt to empress Europeans.

Rousseau defined CIVILIZATION in all negative way, nothing to do with civility. What the Britishers, French, Portuguese etc. would have done in the name provincializing the rest of the ' uncivilized world' (as per their vocab), can be said civilizational? Hope Dipesh addresses it, without jargonizing it.
