Linda Champion's harmonic inflections are absolutely outstanding. Her special talent makes the harmonies work with only the three of them singing when there used to be five. Milo does his part too and Willie has always been the voice of the Harptones. Great concert!
I first heard The Harptones "Why should I Love You " around 1953/54 and I and never stopped listening to them. Willie Winfield was a national treasure. He may be gone now but his music will always be here.
Outstanding performance even with only 3 singers. I'm so glad they did Three Wishes - my favorite Harptones' tune and one of the loveliest songs ever composed and sung.23:30
@@dennishorlick7493 Linda Champion's harmonies are something very special. She improvises when she feels it's right and it produces some of the sweetest 3 part melodic harmonies I've ever heard.
I was at his final performance. Amazing. He hit every note on the head. I shook his hand and spoke with his entourage. I saw him 60 years ago at the Alan Freed shows in the Paramount Theatre. I was like a little kid following him to his station and we had a few words. You could tell, he was maybe the nicest man I ever met. And what a voice! Anyone know what groups Marlow Murray was in? I keep thinking Moonglows?
@@alheitzer2438 What years would you say he was when you knew him? I'm still pissed off that he took all my photos of groups (maybe 100, and sold them.
I'm not familiar with any group that he associated with but it WASN'T THE MOONGLOWS. The MOONGLOWS were responsible for Bobby Lester, Harvey Fuqua and the most famous was Marvin Gaye.
