African crowned eagles (look a lot like harpy eagles but a different continent and different colour) did hunt our ancestors back in the day and now eat monkeys, so i wouldnt say this flying phorusrhachid couldn't catch a body
Beautiful! They are my favorite eagles. Elegant, mythical, majestical, they aren’t called the kings of preys for nothing. As much as a Harry Potter fan, I’d say this fella is a mini Buckbeak. 😍
The Harpy Eagle gets its name from classic ancient Greek mythology because the Harpy half woman - half bird brought the souls of the deceased to the Greek Underworld.
Me: Daww, look at this cute little eag - Eagle: * sky-dives into my face and scratches my entire face while unplugging my eyeballs from their sockets with its mighty talons * Still me: dawww, did you see that? He just landed the most cute attack on me 👁👅👁 * dies *
He's a beautiful bird! I've always had a long interest in Harpy Eagles after seeing an illustration of one in an old bird book as a child. Love all eagles but the Harpy always stood out. Great upload! 🦅👍

I have friends who are active here in AZ who work with a local wildlife rescue. I will share that for them. Awesome! Sad what people do to those birds, though....
@@shelbyrice3860 dude stop it I've met a harpy eagle when I was child it was very friendly and very gentle when I was feeding it and you say ThEy EaT ChIlDrEn...
I noticed the zoos and animal refuges always have the smaller male Harpies. I'm guessing because most of the handlers are usually females and they aren't strong enough to hold a big female Harpy on their arm for long.
Hes beautiful I have never seen one until I ran across a video on tic toc there is no safe space for animals in the wild because of their wing span they can pick up animals heavier than them . Amazing bird
I am from Panama and natives have a tale that Harpy Eagle hunts children when food shortage comes. That's why they never leave a child alone without adult supervision. Just a fact :)
One thing for sure I saw Jeff Corwin holding harpy eagle on his left arm however the harpy eagle is pecking his head but Jeff's head is not bleeding at all like what does it mean? what does it mean if a harpy eagle is only pecking your head not damaging it?
I reallllllly hope this thing does pick up in Falconry, I do not want a baby gryphon tearing at my face, despite how beautiful it is, I would really love to go hunting alongside one,
