These are fantastic and accurate rifles. My buffalo Classic in 45-70 came with the full length barrel and a lyman tang sight built into the stock behind the hammer. Shoots amazing

They are awesome shooting rifles, I was going to get one when I was younger but found a cheaper i.a.b 74 sharps in 45/70 with a 34in target barrel for 400 bucks and couldnt pass it up, one of those ill get one later and next thing I know they stopped making everything sadly. They made awesome rifles and shotguns that was affordable for everyone. I still have my 17hmr heavy target barrel H&R and its a tack driver.

I love the H&R break open rifles. I try to buy everyone I see. A H&R Handi Rifle in 270win and an H&R 20Gauge pump shotgun were the first guns I ever bought. Bought them the same day at a Cabela's New Years blow out sale. I bought Lee hand loaders for both along with components and powder to reload the spent cases and shells in the same sale. Still using that stuff present day.

That’s awesome! I need to pickup a set of 45/70 dies for this one. I didn’t know reloading would be so fun and addicting when I started it. Thanks for the comment and view!

Hey, that’s my local gunsmith who did the H&R. Maybe I’ll get him to do one like that for me.

The fellow I got this from, is who got them to do the work. They did great work on this!

I hate that the upgrade involved whacking 8” off the Buffalo Classic barrel.

I like that it made it more handy to carry and use. I don’t know the story as why they done it, but it is what it is. I still like the rifle

Man those .45-70 rifles thump, but glad to see that added recoil pad soaking up that cartridge. Nice group too with irons at 100yards. Definitely a cool story on that rifle too. I've been to Germany at least a dozen times as well as Switzerland which has similar hunting restrictions. Things are definitely different over there. Their firearm rules are nuts and fewer and fewer folk are hunting in Germany anymore due to the EU. Suppressors are just accessories in Europe which as restrictive as they are with firearms, it's interesting how lax they are with suppressors. Our government has it so wrong with suppressors. I know of a few colleagues that have hunted over in Germany. All this discussion of hunting season...I still have no clue where I'm going to go to hunt this year. If I don't go anywhere, then I'll just hunt public land here in NC. I've never hunted in Georgia, but wouldn't be opposed to a trip there to hunt.

Man there are some bigger deer in GA, just not around where I am I feel like. I’ve never seen many big deer taken up here. It is interesting to me the differences in hunting here Vs abroad. I’d love to hunt over in Germany someday. And your right, suppressors are a safety device more than anything, no different than ear muffs. Appreciate the support my man!

@@j_c_hunt It's really difficult for a foreigner to hunt in Europe unless you know folk or have money. Even my family in Switzerland don't hunt there anymore due to all the red tape. Germany when I drive around, you can see all of the hunting stands. They also have a lot of wild boar.

... you should be resting the stock fore-end on the front bag NOT the barrel
@j_c_hunt
@j_c_hunt 6 месяцев назад
Your right, normally I wouldn’t do that. I didn’t realize it slide back like it did. I’ll also say, I don’t think it made that much difference on this particular application. The forend is screwed hard to the barrel, and not free float. Resting on the forend is technically resting on the barrel. Either way, I don’t like resting the barrel out of principle and didn’t realize it here.

At least they ruined a Buffalo Classic made in Illion NY and not Gardner Mass.
@j_c_hunt
@j_c_hunt 6 месяцев назад
I wouldn’t say it’s ruined. It made it much easier to field with the shorter barrel, and the recoil pad is nicer than not having one personally. All in what someone wants I guess.

@@j_c_hunt Agree. The short ones are much handier.
