This man is so wise intelligent and knowledgeable in all that's going on against, the poor. And he is remarkably candid, Not afraid to speak his mind even with the position he has in society, if we only had a few more like him who would speak out (the way things really are without apology) and stand firm in all that speak. He's a man after my heart. Thank God for His VOICE!!
I have always loved Harry Belefonte, from his early songs, which opened up a new world. As an educated (by living on this earth) person. All respect to another human being. I am not black or brown, but I believe we are all connected. Any injustice to any is an injustice to all of us. All my respect to a wonderful human being.
Wow never realized how much Mr. Belafonte played a part in civil rights. I hope that before I leave this earth I can make a difference the way this great diplomatic gentleman has.
I am with you. It is humbling to learn of his involvement in these matters. I was born 3 days after MLK was assassinated in 1968; the Civil Rights Movement is very near to my heart.
and barry hussein destroyed all civil rights and for the prce of a $20 flip phone, and the false narrative he was african or american. Both of which he is not. He was adopted and raised by one of Geo Bush sr.'s business partners. The leader of the corrupt uni party.
There is an interesting and entertaining discussion on RU-vid during which Harry Belafonte talks about bringing money into the south and how he got Sidney Poitier to do it with him.
I love the closer A remarkable man, a wonderful man is gone, but his soul will stay The world needs it Honest, straightful and always polite Deeply understanding of the challenge and not afraid to name the blocks Shukran, thank you so much mister Belafonte
Harry Belafonte was Not A Racist, but had A Genuine Love for people, World-Wide! He also Wisely Analyzed The Corrupt Political System, and was A Well Balanced Man! He was Well Known, and his Music was Greatly Loved, by South American Folks, of All Races! Au Revior, To A Great, Artist!
Now that was a wonderful interview. The answers were spot on. Who is going to be the next voice that will be able to live and die of natural causes into their twilight years? 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 Be blessed and stay blessed, people.
I admired him in ISLAND IN SUN of which the earlier part of the movie was filmed in Grenada 🇬🇩 which is my homeland. Sleep in n Peace with the Angels 😇 6.31 pm
RIP ❤ Respect to you 🙏 awesome human being. When asked was you your brother's keeper you can say yes I was.❤ Money didn't make me I made money and shared it on behalf of humanity.
🌅🇧🇧🙏🏿My County And I We Honor And SALUTE YOU MR BELAFONTE🙏🏿 Thanks For HELPING Put Barbados 🇧🇧On The Map In The Movie Island In The Sun🌅😢🙏🏿 I SALUTE Your Contribution To The University Of The West Indies Barbados🇧🇧👨🏾🎓👩🏾🎓📚🙏🏿 Mr Belafonte You Have RUN THE RACE AND YOU KEPT YOUR TRUTH 🙏🏿 A HUMANITARIAN, A FREEDOM FIGHTER, A MIGHTY MAN OF VALOR 🙏🏿 Your Name Will REMAIN ON HISTORY BOOKS📚🙏🏿 Travel On To Meet The Ancestors Rest In Peace🇧🇧🤗🙏🏿
Loved the interview for the fact that it features Belafonte, however I dream of the day where an interviewer would just dig deeper on what is given to them rather just go to the next unrelated question down on the prepared list. It was super interesting what Belafonte was getting at, at 07:40, and then the interviewer : "ok lets cut this, I gotta get to my next question,. Have you ever been to the white house?"
HB, a brilliant mind with a deeply compassionate heart. So much more than vocalizing beliefs and strategies, he participated in overt actions and activities in support thereof. Imagine his deepest dissapointments noadays, 9 years after this video interview, as everything he speaks of has proceeded onward in the wrong direction. USA has become worse than ever in all respects of racial inequality, suppression of minorities, unfetterd violence, economic catastrophe for those who can least afford it, environmental destruction, corrupted judicial system and escalating desmantling of basic human rights. At least he set an example just as MLK did. It's unfortunate that there are no competent follow these leaders on the horizon.
Both men came from two different backgrounds. Obama was raised by a white mother and after her death, his white grandparents. You work with the tools God has given you and do your best. Harry B. was correct in saying each has their own prism and so in my estimation must do one’s best to navigate that light. Each man made the most of what was given them.
Actually he would be disappointed by Obama. This was just after his election. Wonder what he thought later... there's a video circulating where Belafonte chides HRC and Obama in 2007 while onstage with them. It'd be great to find an interview with him from later...maybe democracy now has something...
Certainly one of the better interviews with a man I admire very much. The only point of "departure" is that Mr, Belafonte was (had to be) an optimist in outlook. The fact that so many years later, we are at another moment of "great troubles", pushes one towards (total) pessimism. Brinkmanship can only be practiced so many times, without ending in disaster. .
Proud! Unrelenting! Imagine if he were president? And the man was cool as the center seed of a cucumber 😎 As much as I admired former president Obama intellect, Mr. Bellefonte intellect as well as his truthfulness is out of this world. He would have been too realistic for some America's.
Idk why you guys put Maduro in the background, but as a pro Palestinian commie, I approve, and I love Harry Belafonte for working so hard in the liberation struggles!
Obama's hand was tied, so to speak, He was limited in what he could do and tried to be careful not to offend anyone. He had advisors around him who knew exactly how far he was allowed to go. Also he had people on the other side who blocked whatever he tried to do!
A journalist job is to be the recorder of our deeds the keeper of our conscious. Instead there the watchdog for the establishments agendas they are owned by the government that's not fair and unbiased.
Gosh! I really miss seeing you without your hair, Harry. You always wore it naturally and well, so what's with the bald pate? The shape of the head and the natural hair on it made you with that handsome face. Miss it, really do. Good health, there Jamerican 'friend'😰
I think his view on capitalism is kinda limited. Capitalism depends more on a thriving, money spending middle class more than anything else and not so much on "exploiting" low wage workers. Eventually even in countries that have low wage workers their wages will increase as more businesses locate there and have to start to compete to attract and keep labor.
