Harry joined 'Liverpool', The Band at Beatlefest 92. to sing.. "Without You" (originally by Badfinger), and "You Can't Do That" (originally by The Beatles) Enjoy.
Miss this man sooooooooooo damn much! As in such poor health at this point in his life and his voice not in form, he gave it all! Thank you so very much for this historic space in time. Give Peace A Chance - ultimate goosebumps. RIP John and Harry.
One of the most underrated and incredible male vocalists of all-time. Before he blew out his vocal cords battling John Lennon in some contest, this guy was phenomenal.
When I hear this performance of Without you, my heart just sinks. ❤😢 RIP Harry, Harry, Harry….what has become of you? My heart is heavy and my eyes are full of sorrow…to see you like this. God bless!
“In 1974 things would forever change for Nilsson. During a late-night party and jam session Nilsson and Lennon engaged in a screaming match to see which one could out do the other. In the process, Nilsson irreversibly ruptured a vocal cord. He chose to keep that information from Lennon in fear that the Liverpudlian would put a stop to the production of the album Pussy Cats, which they had been collaborating on.
Harry was a very unique talent who took chances and created some memorable music. Unfortunately, he also was a well-known party animal. Rest in peace, Harry.
Really think if he was able to live into the 2000s or 2010s he would have def gotten to touring. This is the closest thing to live that he did in many ways. He’s so missed
@Ian Salyer while I was a huge Beatles fan, I didn't quite know Nilsson other than his association with Lennon and Without You. I wish I had at the time I saw him alive.
Watch the documentary "Whatever happened to Harry Nilsson" it explains how he blew out his voice with John Lennon both taking turns SCREAMING in the studio... Sad.... He had arguably the GREATEST voice in the 70's era....
@@bearbear4389 Most I agree... There are a handful that kept their voices intact over the years. David Crosby was one of them.. Robert Plant another...
To Vista... You might want to amend your video description to include the song names "Without You" (originally by Badfinger), and "You Can't Do That" (originally by The Beatles).
Message from JImmy Buffett who just left "BUBBLES UP" THX YOU TWO GOATS Never knew who wrote these treasures. what got me here was Jimmy Buffet who in an interview with his daughter JIMMY expressed his deep admiration of Harry Somtimes on this trashed planet angels are sent in but this low level planet takes a toll on these higher level creative beings and they fall into the Quagmire of the mess we lower level beings have created on this third world planet. Harry happy to hear and see you even after the toll this dark planet has taken on you but You came in to mission immposible and added tons of light RiP you did what could Thanks for the help Harry RIP. God speed on your cosmic journey out of this dump.God bless Not your fault. Only JESUS!!!!!
@@kimwood9119 It was a temporary injury, his voice recovered after. As some one else said his voice being out of whack here is more likely to be that he was drunk.
This is so cool! Wish I could have been there. I understand he didn't like to perform live very often. (Edit: Yikes, he's not at his best in this performance.)
He sounded incredibly good here, considering how badly he damaged his voice in the mid 1970's. That first verse of "Without You" in particular sounded damn good.
So sad. "Without You" WAS his song. Yes, his voice is still recognizable, but barely. So pathetic the way this great man sends his voice randomly wandering around attempting to find the right pitch before sadly leaving it. His sickness is evident in this video, and we understand why this has become his last appearance before his untimely death. Kids, stay off booze or this will happen to you too.
As someone who grew up listening to Nilsson from a very young age, this is very sad to listen to. Here, Harry sounds like your average drunken guy doing karaoke on a Wednesday night at the neighborhood tavern.
Why was he wearing sunglasses? Why did he want to hide his eyes? Hopefully, he wasn't on drugs. Generally, that's the reason why well-known people wear sunglasses.
does it really matter. drugs would have fueled him, giving him energy, it was part of his make up. so much energy with creative people, attracts self abuse.
So sad how Harry threw it all away. Until the accident that blew his vocal chords he was the most incredible singer I ever heard. Right up there with Elvis for originality and sound. He also wrote some great songs including a bunch of hits for da Monkees!.
