This is the best version of this song and is stupendous as it is hauntingly beautiful. Most people hear Mariah Carey's version, which I think is very screechy, and cannot hold a candle to this version.
I manned the record bar at my Fathers shop after school and Saturdays in 1962, I was 6. I played songs on the shop turntable and when we closed I took the amplifier and made my first valve bass amp. in 1970. This song and Mike and the Mechanics 'The Living Years' always bought tears in my eyes, even now. The reason I believe I play bass and gigged around Sydney for 120 gigs.
Without you was a massive hit for Harry Nisson, but was written by 2 members from the British rock band Badfinger (Pete Ham and Tom Evans).
