My god this brings back so many memories of me rushing home from school to play this when I was like 10. I still call this one the best Harry Potter video game
Vasya Pupkin the 3rd one was still good. It didn't quite have the same feeling of wonder as the second but still held out. And you got to play as Ron and Hermonie as well as Harry so that was cool
I agree, i mean you get the most amount of wizard cards in this game (101). where as in the first game there are only 25 and in the 3rd game there are 80. I also like how Harry can gain more stamina by collecting the Bronze wizard cards whereas in the first game he only has 1 bolt of stamina. I even like how the Chocolate Frogs in this game try to hop away from you whereas in the other two games, they stay in one place. Anyway these are a few reasons why i agree with you that the second game was better than 1 and 3.
Ever since I play this wonderful game, the music when Harry walks on the grounds at night always make me melancholic and I almost burst to tears. Maybe I'm too sensitive.
The effort they put into original music for these games is simply mindblowing. They could have just recycled the movie soundtracks, but instead, I believe they hired Jeremy Soule to compose a soundtrack for the first 3 games. The music is one of the main reasons I find myself returning to play these games from time to time.
I remember this game so fondly. Although my PC was incredibly outdated even at the time, so the game moved like a stop-motion slideshow in terms of framerate. I still really loved it. Sadly, it would 'freeze' when I entered Aragog's lair and the spider said "Aragog! A human is here!" and the camera would just stand still and watch him twiddle his legs like thumbs.
Been thinking about watching a walkthrough since I played this my entire childhood. I still have it but it's old and scratched as well as I dont uave a computer. But I'm dead seeing you had the same corruption as me. His glasses and those trees in the beginning. Some stuff had black boxes. But this game I never beat. Not even just the story. The 3rd pc game I beat entirely 100 percent. If only I could go back and be in my 10 year old self just one more time to play this game. My mother was the one who taught me how to play. Oh the nostalgia
I got 49 of 50 bronze cards, 40 of 40 silver cards and all of the gold cards. I never found the last of the bronze cards. It was so hard and couldn't find it anywhere.
Maybe it's the soundtrack, maybe it's the uncanny valley-like graphics, or maybe it's just my own experiences with this game when I was younger, but isn't this game slightly creepy? There's just something about it that rubs me the wrong way. I love this game to pieces, it was one of the first games I ever played, but it's always creeped me out slightly. Maybe it was just all the exploring I did in debug mode I did when I was a little kid...
Oh dear, I always found debug mode to ruin a charm of a game for me, to see how hollow things are in reality. This made me take up on a perspective, where I see everything displayed in a video-game as a mere miniature, of what it is supposed to represent. So even if you see the Hogwarts main Hall displayed here, always try to enhance it using your fantasy, just like reading some written description :)
It's a very creepy game. Especially the Skurge Challenge where the Bloody Baron randomly shows up in front of you, The Fat Friar's spooky laughing, PEEVES POPPING OUT OF THE CHEST, the worst.
i Remember when my parents Used to punish me because of Bad Marks haha. and i cried because i Wanted to play this Game. Damn... Childhood. I was 10 years old kiddo back in 2003. Now Im at University. Life actually sucks
Is it just me, or does the inside-the-castle music sound somewhat Jeremy Soule/ Skyrim-esque. Either way, I like it and I kinda miss this game. Edit: This music WAS composed by Jeremy Soule! No wonder it's so amazing!
Spot on! Jeremy Soule composed the unique soundtracks for these Harry Potter games (I believe first 4 ones). When composing the one for Philosopher's Stone, he apparently refused to see the movie so as not to be influenced/i spired by John William's music, in order to create his own.
It would be absolutely amazing if you’d redo chamber of secrets like you did with the December special of philosopher’s stone. That was awesome! I have the most memories of chamber of secrets for PC but the theme frightened me when I was small so I never played it 100%. Would love seeing you play it with your unique commentaries.
i played this gem on pc when i was in 1st grade (6yo) and i remember really enjoying it. Not long ago i got my hands on a jailbroken ps4 and it had all games from philosophers stone to hogwarts legacy including both lego games on it. I was so hyped to re-experience this game and have a nostalgic trip just to realise the console ports were made by entirely different studios and are not the same as the pc one i played. I was waiting the whole time to get to the haunted tree and never did 😭
I always loved the Harry Potter games. However l wish they kept the movement of the characters the same as in Harry Potter & the Sorcerer stone. It looked a slightly bit better bit the wand movements are great here. I kinda also wished they kept the teaching of the spells the same as in the first Harry Potter game. That was more fun instead of using arrows. But besides that this game is great. Great videos!
Dear zelgadis115, thanks for upload! One of my favorite games ever! How can I download it, i have windows 7, and i reaaaaly want to have this one xD Can you give me some instruction?
I have had great success using Fraps to record this game. The way you describe it sounds like an issue I encounter when recording a game in windowed mode. Still, if the software you're using works on all games except for this one, my guess would be some sort of incompatibility issue with newer Windows, so you might try and take a look at "running as administrator" or "compatibility packs" options in the properties.
zelgadis115 Alright thanks a lot. I'll try that! I might have a golden tip for you. You can stretch your video to a full screen, without those annoying black bars, Insert this: yt:stretch=16:9 in the tagging part of your videos. Just copy and past and voila! I found out last week ^^
I think Jim Dale was the narrator for US release of this game, and Stephen Fry did the job for European release. For Philosopher's Stone, I think it was Jim Dale for both
I'm afraid these games were never officially digitally distributed :( I would only recommend scouring the internet via un-official means for a the executable
@@genie9719 I got 49 of 50 bronze cards, 40 of 40 silver cards and all of the gold cards. I never found the last of the bronze cards. It was so hard and couldn't find it anywhere.
I had Harry Potter 1 2 and 4 as a computer game. chamber of secrets was the first one I got and it was definitely my favorite of the three. I hated goblet of fire computer game
Hmm, I think I recorded this back on Vista. Other than trying the compatibility tab after right-clicking on the .exe file and trying to run it as administrator or activating Windows XP compatibility mode...my only guess would be to download and use a Windows XP emulator, and run the game through that.
Never had the honor of playing the console versions, but I like the fact that the same game is completely different on different platforms, not just a port. Something that's no longer the case with modern titles, unfortunately :(
