It is so brilliant how Ryan George has made everyone watch a movie and try to pick out the “ actually it’s going to be super easy, barely and inconvenience” moments of ANY movie!!!!

5:07 when he does some little gesture like that for the producer guy saying “ what’s going on with Voldemort though?” And puting subtle body language action to it….. that make me laugh so hard. Subtle humor.

My head canon convenient way of dealing with the "why they didn't use a truth serum on Slughorn" would be, he is a potion expert, maybe he would have spotted the serum anyway. And Dumbledore doesn't resort to violence or intimidation. So instead, Dumbledore uses Slughorn's weakness. The proximity he creates with his students and his favorite ones which take into consideration the popularity and fame of this student : in that case Harry fits well for the role.

It might not have worked anyways; Slughorn edited his own memory after all. While he still had the other memory somewhere inside, it's quite possible a truth potion would have just resulted in him reciting the edited version.

Dumbledore explicitly states that Slughorn would be on his guard against truth serum in the book. The movie doesn’t mention it though.

I want to blame this film's misplaced romance focus on Twilight, but seeing how they mishandled the first Deathly Hallows film, I don't think I can. I find it hilarious that the Twilight love triangle craze was responsible for public's intense focus on the nearly irrelevant love triangle in the Hunger Games. It's extremely ironic given what the Hunger Games was trying to critique in the first place. That said, I love a number of things from this film. The score in particular remains my favorite of the series.

I find the romance not that much disturbing. Being a child when that came out, there was anticipation on romantic relationship from the golden trio with each other or other students. You just naturally make theories about it as a young viewer and it does provide some payoff from said anticipation. Without it, people would have been pissed not getting confirmed romance through the span of 8 movies. Another good point: it lightens the tone of the movie that would be quite dark otherwise (curses to attempt to kill Dumbledore, Draco being cornered to join the death eater and making sketchy plans, death eaters running around, Harry mourning the death od Sirius, etc) The main drawback is having to cut other very interesting parts of the story which would have been to get.

Sectum is Latin for "Devide/Cut", Sempra means "Infinite/Eternal" The spell is *_LITERALLY_* named *_"Infinite Cuts"._* The ONE possible excuse for NOT knowing it was absolutely extremely deadly is if Latin is not a mandetory class for Wizards. Which is REALLY fakking unrealistic if it isnt since part of your education is to actually create your own spells... and theyre all rooted in Latin so you cant actually do that if you dont study latin, Its kinda like having a school for Ice Hockey and NOT teaching poeple how to skate. Its pretty much a corner stone for the entire concept, you really cant do it without that knowledge. I mean... You probably *_could__* still do it, techncally speaking but you would be absolute garbage at. There is nothing you can tell me that would make me accept that they dont teach Latin at Hogwarts and that Harry some how didnt know that spell was absolutely lethal. And even is he somehow DIDNT know what Sectum Sempra means, just for arguments sake lets assume he genuinely doesnt know, its still a spell Harry has never heard of, dont know what it does or even how to properly weild it and it was created the same completely unknown person calling hiself "The HalfBlood Prince" and who was a God level creator of friggin *_"Liquid ☠☠☠" potions. Just how many red flags do you need to relize that taking taking such a spell, and the very first time using it, doing it on an actal person is probably a stupid fakking idea?
