I love how the Cursed Child isn’t even an option for Harry Potter canon

I don’t know my sexuality or race because JK Rowling hasn’t told me yet

I was thinking "Why isn't there Cursed Child?" but I realized this is a canon list.

"nothing really happens" = the movie where Harry meets three of his dad's best friends, meets his supposed murderer of a godfather, finds out the truth and who was actually responsible for his parents' death, puts a dude in debt for saving him which proves very useful in the future and time travels and saves Buckbeak which is very important

6:48 Our boy out here slamming my favourite book of the entire series. I especially liked it *because Voldemort wasn't in it* for once. It felt cozy, yet still threatening and the whole time-turner thing was super interesting to read (at least for me at the time when I was also around 13-14 years old). For me, PoA is also the year where nothing and everything happens in a weird way. The series just wouldn't be the same without Sirius and Lupin. Also, the dementors had me shook!

Just a quick note about ‘Quidditch through the ages’ and ‘Fantastic Beasts and where to find them’. You suggest they are money grabs, but when they were first released in 2001 they were done in support of Comic Relief, in fact checking my copies they both say that at least £2 from the sale was going to Comic Relief, each book was £2.50 (or 14 sickles, 3 knuts). So perhaps you were being a little unfair.

Prisoner of Azkaban was my favorite! I was so happy Harry found more family and Voldemort didn't show up for once.

Unpopular opinion: Order of the Phoenix is my favorite Harry Potter book, very close tie to the Half-Blood Prince. It's also my favorite movie.

For me, prisoner of Azkaban will always hold a soft spot to me. First time I was introduced to multiple twists.. such as Sirius black! And also my intro to time travel :) it was so fun to read! It truely blew my mind

Dementors. Boggarts. Hogsmede. More information on how Harry's parents died. Werewolves. Some of these are incredibly important, some of them serve to flesh out the world and give us more context on other things later, but both categories are worthwhile. It's like saying the Chamber of Secrets would've been worthless if Tom and Mouldy Voldy were different people.

I’ve honestly never understood why people thought the prisoner of Azkaban movie was so amazing, I thought it was really disappointing when I watched it. They left SO much out from the book, which was AMAZING

Good ranking Seamus. Not sure I agree with all of the order of them, but the rankings make sense with the way you described them. Rereads and rewatches are always good. I hated on CoS when I first read the book, but after a couple rereads I didn’t feel the same way; especially now that the movies are out and I have the audiobooks!

I watched Crimes of Grindlewald in theaters and I honestly don’t really remember any of it. I stopped paying attention like halfway through the movie and by the time I got back into it I had no idea what was going on 😂

Personally, I love long books and OotP is my favorite of all the canon. I love books that make me actually angry and of course Umbridge does that perfectly.

The books don't say that Azkaban doesn't have walls, they just say it didn't need them. "The fortress is set on a tiny island, way out to sea, but they don't need walls and water to keep the prisoners in, not when they're all trapped inside they own heads." They also say they don't need water in this quote but it is stated at the beginning that it's surrounded by water none the less. It's just saying that it has walls and water but it doesn't need them because of the effect the dementors have on the inmates.

not sure I agree with your book assessments, but your movie critiques are on point. Also, thank you for informing me JK isn't writing the next FB movie by herself. The best news I've gotten in a while.
