I don't care what people say about her, I'll always love and admire this woman as an artist. She was the reason I wanted to be an author when I was a young kid, and inspired me to start writing my own stories. Not to mention Harry Potter got me through one of the darkest times of my life.
It’s crazy to think how much joy and hope she brought to the world, all because of an idea that came to her one day (and that she had the talent to write of course)
Crazy that in 1999-2000, a boy aged 9 in Spain will go down with her mum through his town in the Basque coast (Northern Spain) one morning an see her books on a store. My mother saying "They say this books are good", and bought the two first ones to me. Then in a week I had read the first one and the HP and the Philosopher Stone became the first book I ever read in my life and I LOVED IT, initiating my love for reading at the age of 10 in a foreign country with a different language. HP was almost my age as I read so I basically grew with him. I was 19-20 when I read the last book of the series. Thanks for everything Jo! Love you, and the fact that you defend your political views made me even more loving of you. Truly inspirational.
You can tell she was super uncomfortable and nervous, I can't truly imagine the pressure she must've been under in later years of writing the series. This woman is such an inspiring example of how you can absolutely change the course of your life if you put your mind into it
@@Sinjinator We create our luck! The types of people who blame others success on luck are the types who often have untapped potential within themselves, and choose to not be proactive about achieving their dreams
i remember reading the harry potter books over and over again in one of the most difficult times in my life, and I think her books are a great part of what kept my sanity together... this video is truely a treasure! thank you!
While reading the books I had often felt that this world is real and hidden from us and somehow JK Rowling came to know about it and must have interviewed the real Harry Potter to write about him. I kind of still believe the same😜
I don’t care what people say about J.K. Rowling. I agree with her trans views to be quite honest and am willing to look past some of her other liberal views I disagree with to see who she really is, what she accomplished, her impact on my life, and who she was during the early years. Her mind has given birth to so much inspiration in my life and was a MAJOR part of my childhood. My childhood was full of happiness and wonder because of her. I’m writing my own books right now hoping to publish just like she did
I feel your comment is targeted to sarcasm but she's already succeeded in her goals and Harry Potter is now one of the most read books in the world. Lol! This was prolly 22 years ago.
This is so neat. "The Haunted School" :D These HP terms like Hogwarts are just so common these days so the fact she had to explain it and refer to it as such is so funny to see in hindsight.
I'll never understand what she did to have that extraordinary imagination to build a whole new universe in a children's book and the same way attracted to elders. My auntie is 53 and she loves HP Universe lol. Now JK Rowling is one of the most important writers around the world and one of the richest women in the UK. Even JK Rowling still making money with Fantastic Beasts I just can't believe how her name still so relevant!
She will always be a role model and an inspiration for me. I have to add she looks extra beautiful here, I love her long auburn hair. She looks like Lily Potter. Thank you Jo for sharing your incredible mind with the world.
@Tommy Daniels if u r being sarcastic, don't be. Search for the novels read the books and watch the movies. I did countless times. And for the last movie premiere harry potter 7 part 2, they had the biggest movie premiere ever with the world's longest red-carpet and it was live. The potter fan has camped outside for 55 hours or maybe more before the premiere started. Watch it
It really surprises me that videos posted of her on here (especially her interviews as she was still writing the saga) don't get even a fraction of the views the videos do about the child actors who played (badly for the most part) the characters in the film franchise. It's even more baffling when you think of how many of the actual books were sold.
I’m disappointed in the media for not giving the authors more credit and elevating them! Do you know how much research and work goes into a novel… well if the first one does well, then you might get an advance. I think she got some money out of this one. 😉 But before that, it’s a gamble and working and hoping!
Read HP as an adult, at the time of release, only because my children were reading them. Now I was an avid reader as a child, you name an old school children's book and I've likely read it. I clearly remember reading the first chapter of HP and realising that I was witnessing a phenomena in real time. I knew without doubt the books would become as famous, or more, as TLTWATW for instance, and be read for generations. Very strange feeling at the time, not often you get to be there at the beginning and also knowing it's the beginning of something big/huge.
You poor thing it's ok ,to be scared I would be too. If something would be something phenomenal. And it's can be a good thing, and I know I would be too honestly. I'm lover of writing too. Thank you for your inspiration.
@@meesteranonymous8177 I'm not a trans activist, I don't know where that came from. Maybe you could call me an ally? I still love the Harry Potter universe and the books and everything about it. I separate the art from the artist. I do find her views on trans rights horrible though. And I do think she has become smug from the way she replies to the world's reactions to her sayings. She doesn't seem to care at all. I literally read somewhere that she said "Im too rich to care about what people say". Like, seriously!? And that kinda pisses me off. I do like watching old interviews of her though, like this one. And it pisses me off when some people don't realize that yes I can not agree with her views and still love her books the way I did as a kid. There's always a ton of grey tones between black and white.
@@stellaantoniadou4279 her one specific view on trans is absolutely reasonable, and this coming from someone who hated her feminist crap(and still do)and her trying to please your crowd for years. Like the saying goes: "There are no chicks with dicks, only men with tits"
It’s amazing how they’re conducting this interview in the middle of a busy cafe, and no one there is even remotely interested in her because she wasn’t famous yet haha. Just wait a couple years and she’d have been swarmed!
It's interesting hearing about early Hollywood interest then, and now we are well past the entire 8 movie series that has made billions with all the actors becoming stars in their own right.
It’s true that generally you can’t support yourself off a handful of children’s books, but she managed to successfully do that. Harry Potter took the world by absolute storm, it was by far the biggest obsession I’ve seen in my lifetime, it made (and continues to make) a TON of money and got rave reviews and avid fans eagerly awaiting each future book. How many authors can say their children’s books are so successful across such a wide age range that their publisher can justify publishing the books again, unedited, with an adult cover because there’s an army of older readers buying and enjoying the series? She’s a success and a huge inspiration as an author. Sure she may not be making the best decisions lately whatwith beating a dead horse on Harry’s world, but, ultimately, if the money keeps coming and the readers continue reading, nothing else matters.
Jkr was a different person back then. She knew perfectly well that her story was a traditional fantasy for a child being abused and found himself actually amazing
It is just puzzling to see her trying to get everything and every holes of her stories fixed right now by wildly expanding the worldviews. She is trying to do more than “just selling more books” now.
It’s a cold & windy day in Edinburgh so is either late winter or autumn. She says her second book is out (published mid-1998) and she’s writing the third but she hasn’t signed any film rights (WB obtained those in early Oct 1998) so my bet is September 1998. Earlier that year she signed with Scholastic for $100K+ and a month later WB would pay a ‘seven figure sum’. For an author whose second book was hardly out this was all amazing. Within 12 months she went from poor author to millionaire all off the back of just one book.

@@garland3688 I have read most of the Robert Galbraith/JK Rowling Cormoran Strike novels. I haven't read any of the Harry Potter novels, but my sister has. I have seen the Harry Potter movies 🙂. I haven't read the last Cormoran Strike novel, but I have read all the others 🙂.
I think she visited a dentist for sure. Plus, having so much money and being that popular, you would definitely want to do something about your appearance.
she sounded noticeably frantic (at least for me), unsurprisingly from the caffein intake.Next time, ask her if both of you could at least do the interview first before she gulps that mocha cup. No offence, it also happened to me.
What year was this? I really hate when people upload a video interview and 1. Don't provide the year and 2. The outlet doing the interview and 3. The location
