Unfortunately my dad passed away before the final book was released so he never knew the ending. He did get to ride this train though 6 months before he passed. He was still healthy at the time and I was so jealous. This is on my bucket list. Hope my wife's is up for it one day. She should be as she's a potterhead too.

Hey! I know it's been like... 3 years since you posted this comment. I just had a thought or a few. Since, you've written that you dearly departed dad, didn't get a chance to know the ending of Harry Potter series... I started to imaging him (not that I know what he looks like, but imaging an amazing and loving person) in a heaven/paradise/good place (choose what suits your beliefs more) having fun with all of the HP characters, that we said goodbye to. Like, I imagined him joking around with Fred, sipping a cup of tea with Dumbledore (or firewhiskey ;) ), having a soul warming conversions with both Lupin and Tonks, enjoying quality time spent with Sirius, talking about you and your family, that he misses while gently stroking Hedwig sitting on his arm. I know it might sounds stupid, but I was smiling while writing this. And I hope all the best for you and your family ✨ have a magical day/night! 💖 Suzi

Oh gosh, these videos made me really nostalgic for scotland! I loved my holiday there. Also to anybody else who's going to ride the Jacobite, ask if you can see the front of the train from the inside! I did that when I was there and holy damn it was awesome! The train driver was very sweet and explained all the funky machinery, if you get a chance to do that it's well worth it! I'm really glad you and Brizzy had so much fun in Scotland!!

The locomotive however is something different! An LMS Black 5 while the loco used for the Hogwarts Express was No 5972 Olton Hall from the Great Western. So indeed they filmed at Glenfinnan in Scotland, but not the exact same train. The Jacobite has been running longer than the Harry Potter movies existed :p Still, a must for every Potter fan.

I went on a steam train in Devon and I asked one if the people on the platform wher to find platform 9 3/4. He said that I had to run through the wall and told me that I was currently on was platform 7 1/2. It made my day. Love you guys. You two are my ravenclaw BFFS.
