Having partially read the first novel of this (in fairness, chapter 2 is over 170 pages), I really like how much they put in this first episode and all the fat they trimmed. At 1:10 your observation is something I don’t think I fully processed as an anomaly, chronologically Oliver sees Nanao before he starts talking with Guy and Katie, instantly intrigued at an Azian girl being at Kimberly (also she was supposed to be incredibly puzzled with the pride plants talking to her). The narration says her country is so Far East of theirs that there’s zero diplomatic or trading ties, so she’s a real rarity. Making it so the cast meets on the walk shortens all the talk right before Katie gets a spell casted on her where Chela and Pete were supposed to be introduced. Works better for a anime episode. I really like too how they show a clip of the last war, can’t wait for anime only folks to see the episode where Nanao finally expands on that fateful day.
07:35 Yep, jealous because he had to work his ass off to pass the exam while she got in because she knows people :D 10:20 Noll is a relatively old English nickname/shortening of the name Oliver. Used extensively in Modernity so 18-19th century. Maybe up to 20th too
Wow, it has a lot of Harry Potter in it, stuff like Clock knots and so many other things. It is waaay more interesting than I thought it would be. I thought it was going to be another "The Strongest Sage" type one season anime, but cant wait for more.
I was really impressed with the work that JCSTAFF put into this, considering they can be so hit-or-miss depending on how much they care (ahem... Date A Live III and OPM S2). This looked even better than Danmachi - and everyone knows that Danmachi is their baby.
Actually, the person that cast the spell on Katie and the person watching over Oliver are (presumably) two different people - the person that cast the spell has a mole under his/her left eye; the person watching over Oliver doesn't. I didn't see this myself initially, but someone else pointed it out and I took note of it.
I need opinions from the LN readers. While I’m also gonna watch the series, is it worth also reading the LN? I’ve heard and read mixed reviews on it so far
