"Hart’s Pass is accessible by car and is the highest point in the State of Washington that one can drive. The road was built in 1893 into gold and silver mines that once were home to over 1,000 permanent residents. This narrow road hangs along a cliff wall providing magnificent vistas and breath taking canyons. The road ends near timberline, over 6000’ in elevation, and opens up into the heart of the North Cascades."

I've been on a wildfire near Winthrop. Twist is a nice area too and Chelan isn't too far. The Lake Chelan is beautiful

Winthrop is an awesome little town. Whole thing is western themed and most of it is original! Great food there.

Awesome video been watching you for about a year now. I was wondering why in the snow you don’t use chains do you not find them needed?

Glad to hear it. I do have chains, but I'm not a fan of them. Most of the time I don't need them.

Great vid man. Was out there this past summer all the way from florida. Unbelievable mountain scenery. Great campstove . Coleman? Are there any hiking trails at slate peak? Thanks.

It's beautiful out there. Yes it is an old Coleman 2 burner. There are more than a couple of hiking trails up there. I actually spoke to a ranger while I was there about some of the trails too. If you go back, stop at the ranger station, they're very helpful.

What do you do if there is a car coming from the other direction?

Someone usually pulls over and let's the other person by. Of course this might require on of you to back up a ways to find a wider part of the road.

Your wife will only do it once. The road is quite narrow and backing up on one of the blind curves is nerve wracking. It is scarier than it looks (especially for most wives).@@RaviWadan

Is it really a pass? Is it a dead-end? I thought a pass crossed a mountain? Elevation ~6200' but you can drive to Sunrise, 6400' on a paved road. That one is a dead-end in the paved parking lot.

Harts pass is an actual pass. The road off of Hart's up to Slate Peak is a dead end road.

The location is pretty remote. So you'll spend way more time getting to the trail than on it. I don't know how long it would take to just drive up there. It takes me way longer because I'm stopping to film and take photos.
